In this short article, we will consider the units of linear density measurement (tex, den) of threads used in fishing as a material for knitting set cloths, which are later used to build fishing nets, as well as for planting, repairing nets, etc.

Why not just measure the thread thickness in mm? For the reason that, unlike a fishing line, this cannot be done with great accuracy, because the thread is not so tight. And since it is impossible to carry out measurements with great accuracy, then the diameter of the thread in mm does not reflect its real characteristics.

For greater clarity, consider an example: all threads (nylon, nylon) are obtained during the production process by winding fibers of the appropriate material. The more the thread is wound, the smaller its diameter in mm, but the breaking characteristics remain practically the same, since the same number of fibers are consumed per unit length. Therefore, both in everyday life and in industry, it is customary to measure the thickness of the thread in units of linear density: tex, den.

Let's take a closer look at what these units are.

This is the ratio of mass to length. Linear density unit texshows how many grams 1000 m (kilometer) of thread weighs. Marking 93.5x3 tex means that a thread weighing 93.5 grams per 1000 meters is used, and x3 means that 3 thread folds are used. Those. one kilometer of such a thread weighs 93.5 * 3 = 280.5 grams.

Denier(den) unit similar to tex. But unlike tex, it shows the weight of the thread at 9000 m. 1 tex = 9 den. Marking 210den2, means that the weight of 9000 m of thread will be 210 grams, and the number of folds of the thread is two.

The table shows the characteristics of the threads most often used in fishing:

2017-11-13T00: 00: 00 + 03: 00 Tex (tex) - the designation of the linear density of the thread in the textile industry for further use for various purposes.

Tex (tex) - the designation of the linear density of the thread in the textile industry for further use for various purposes.

The density of the thread is very important in the manufacture of the mesh. It is calculated according to the Tex system for off-system units of linear density. 1 tex is equal to the weight of 1 thousand meters of thread, and the number indicates the length of a thread weighing 1 gram. The number is supplemented by a unit indicating the multiplicity of twisting. For example, "3" is twisted from three primary ones.

Twisting allows you to get a multifilament thread, consisting of several fibers, which can perfectly hold the structure of the finished product without losing the desired properties. Such material has a high breaking load, is resistant to abrasion, and can bend many times without compromising quality. This increases the linear density of the thread.

A kind of yarn is obtained from a multifilament thread (the fibers are twisted, tightly connecting to each other into thin and long threads) or primary threads. They are subdivided into weaving, knitting, thread, rope and net knitting. This is a semi-finished product required for the manufacture of industrial products.

They have increased strength, last a long time, because they choose polyester yarns, the density of which varies depending on how the net will be used.

In net knitting, as well as for sewing and repairing gear, a harsh (unpainted) thread from 29 texx1x2 to 187 texx3x3 can be used. The thicker the twisted fiber, the greater is the linear density of the tex thread; if T is twenty tex, then this thread is thinner than the one with T equal to 50. The meter of the first has a weight of 20 grams, the second - 50.

Chemical industry enterprises produce threads for weaving fishing nets, taking into account the requirements of GOST. Their linear density can be 5, 15.6, 29, 93.5, 187 or 250 tex. The resulting twisted fishing threads are even and stable. They can be used for netting or for planting fishing gear.

The higher the density of the tex thread, the stronger the finished product is.

The largest structures have an upper pick up to 150 meters long, a vertical opening of 30-35 meters and a horizontal opening of 50 meters.

The twisted yarns cannot "loosen", because the primary yarn is twisted in one direction, and groups from it - in the other. If the process goes clockwise, then the twist is right and gets the designation Z, and if against, then the left and S. Based on the fact that the final twist is usually to the right, the Tex marking can be SZ or ZSZ.

Save Save

), which is the world leader in the production of monofilament and multimonofilament (twisted fishing line) filaments, as well as nylon (nylon) thread.

Set-sheets have been supplied to the Russian market since 2006 with dimensions traditional for Russian fishermen: height 45; 75 and 100 cells, 150 m long.

Material

The basis for making Chameleon canvases is nylon thread. The Russian analogue of this thread is an extra strong polyamide thread for the fishing industry. Net cloths made of nylon thread in Russia are called nylon.

Breaking load of nylon liners Chameleon

Colour

Main color: smoky gray. It is versatile for net fishing.

Set canvases have a special Chameleon coating that reduces their visibility.

As a result, thanks to its special chemical composition and special processing, the chameleon nylon netting is hardly noticeable in water.

The manufacturing technology of this coating is patented and is the "know-how" of the MOMOI company.

Thread structure

Capron (nylon) threads are twisted from several primary threads of the same linear density folded together. The threads are received in stages. First, the primary threads of two or three pieces are twisted into groups, and then several groups are twisted together, as a result of which a thread is formed. These threads, in turn, can twist among themselves several pieces into a thicker thread, etc.

The main characteristic of the thread is its structure. The structure of the thread is expressed by the linear density of the primary threads and their number.

To indicate the structure of the thread, 2 classification systems are used: russian- tex (tex) and foreign denier (den).

1 tex is the weight in grams of 1000 m of thread.
1 den is the mass in grams of 9000 m of thread.
1 tex = 1/9 den.

The designation of the thread structure 29 tex x 3 means that the linear density of the thread is 29 tex and the thread consists of 3 threads.

The designation of the thread structure 210 d / 3 means that the linear density of the thread is 210 den, and the thread consists of 3 primary threads.

Designation

All chameleon nylon network canvases have the same marking:

 • the first digit denotes the structure of the thread in den;
 • the second is the mesh size in mm;
 • the third is the height of the webbed “in the bundle” in meters or the number of cells;
 • the fourth is the length of the webbed “in the bundle” in meters.

For example, the designation 210d / 2; 60-60-150 means: the structure of the thread 210d / 2, mesh 60 mm, height "in the bundle" 60 cells, length "in the bundle" 150 meters.

The “towed” dimension means the fully extended dimension. Consequently, the dimensions of the finished net will be smaller than the dimensions of the “bundled” web.

Blade height

The height of the web can be expressed in cells. To convert the height of a set-canvas from cells to meters, apply the formula:

H = Q x 2a, where
 • Q - number of cells in height
 • a - mesh step.

For example, a set-canvas with the designation 210d / 3; 50 mm; 45 cells - 150 m has the following parameters:

 • 210d / 3 - the structure of the thread, expressed in denier
 • 50 mm - mesh pitch
 • 45 cells - height in cells
 • 150 m - length.

As a result, height, m (in a bundle): H = 45 x 2 x 50 = 4.5 m

Packaging

All Chameleon canvases supplied to the Russian market have branded packaging with branded labels and are delivered in the form of a rolled "doll" that unwinds easily without tangling.

Features:

Advantages - strength, durability, ease of repair.

These canvases are characterized by:

 • high softness and elasticity
 • high breaking performance
 • thermal stabilization of nodes
 • long-lasting smoky gray color
 • increased resistance to salt water
 • increased resistance to ultraviolet radiation and temperature drops

disadvantages

It should be borne in mind that nylon nets, as a general rule, have a lower catchability than fishing nets when it comes to clear water. They are designed for low visibility conditions (muddy water) and at night. In addition, they require longer drying times.

Quality control

According to the reviews of Russian fishermen, nylon network canvases "Chameleon" in terms of their characteristics, they are currently the best among the nylon network cloths available on the modern Russian market.

The production of the Chameleon nylon setpole is certified by the international quality standard ISO 90002.
