It is up to consumers to decide whether to change their smartphone or not, but it is definitely worth looking at the latest smartphones from Sony, especially since it is proposed to compare them with existing competitors. The released XA line was replenished with two models at once, one of which is Sony Xperia XA1... Its full-fledged counterparts can be considered, first of all, in terms of the main technical characteristics of the Xperia XA1 Ultra smartphone, but in terms of display size and overall dimensions - with Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), Lenovo Vibe S1 and others.

Smartphone design

Quite compact, discreet design Sony Xperia XA1 well in harmony with the five-inch touchscreen display, the resolution of which is 1280 by 720 pixels. Media Tek - the Helio P20 modification processor copes well with its work at a frequency of 2 and 3 gigahertz, while completely based on the android 7.1 operating system. Expandable up to 256 gigabytes of internal memory was originally designed for 32 gigabytes, but for the operational developers have provided 3 GB. Mobile communication is provided both through the Internet space and through operators with two SIM cards. All available additional applications work on this device.

Video capabilities of the model

Particular attention of manufacturers was focused on improving video capabilities, thereby bringing an ordinary smartphone closer to a professional camera. For selfies, it will be important to know that the main camera of the Xperia XA1 was made with the latest technological advances in mind. Hybrid autofocus and electronic stabilization (Steady Shot) give you 23 megapixels at their best. The eight-megapixel front camera also has autofocus and a wide-angle lens. For filming, just wave your hand in front of the module's peephole, and a start has been made. Moreover, there is a small run-up between the start and the start of photographing - within 0.6 seconds. This is enough for the photographer himself to get ready. In such conditions, the high quality of random frames and their clarity are guaranteed. Individual face and smile detection, even in group and panoramic photos, helps you see the smallest details.

Surprisingly, the improvements don't end there. There are also changes in the battery field. For work, a 2300 mAh battery is used, but endowed with functions of instant and quick recharging. There is no need to worry that it is discharged, and sometimes just have a spare tire with you.

Sony Xperia XA1 is the new mid-range model presented at MWC 2017 and is the most inexpensive option among new products. In shaping the appearance of the smartphone, Sony applied the Loop Surface design concept, and in comparison with its predecessor Xperia XA, the novelty turned out to be more brutal and already corresponds to the features of the new flagship. The company representatives noted that the smartphone carries the flagship design and functions. But here are some technical parameters that could beat and better, even within their price segment. Overall, the model is noteworthy.

Personally, outwardly, the smartphone is very impressed with me, you definitely cannot confuse the hand of the designers of which company was attached. Thin side frames add even more sophistication, which cannot be said about the margins at the bottom and top.

The side panels are aluminum and, despite the prevalence of plastic in the body, the smartphone feels to the touch not as cheap plastic, but as a completely monolithic, pleasant tactile bar. The manufacturer did not miss out on the abundance of body colors: a choice of gold, white, black and pink options.

The screen of the Xperia XA1 received, like its predecessor, a 5-inch IPS matrix covered with Gorilla Glass with an oleophobic coating, but its resolution is 1280 by 720 pixels (HD). Pixelation is not noticeable if you pay attention to it. Some will consider such a resolution to be normal, but in our humble opinion a Full HD matrix would be much more appropriate and attractive.

All functional luggage will be carried by the Helio P20 chipset from MediaTek: 8 Cortex-A53 cores with a frequency of up to 2.3 GHz and a Mali-T880 MP2 video. I am glad that the memory was not deprived - the volume of the operative is 3 GB, while the internal storage is 32 GB with the possibility of using microSD cards up to 256 GB. The volume of the battery was not changed - all the same 2300 mAh, and this brings a touch of disappointment. Of course, the improved energy efficiency of the chipset and a small screen resolution should play into the hands of moderate battery consumption, but I don't think we should expect outstanding battery life. The presence of a software solution for a sparing attitude to the Qnovo Adaptive Charging battery and support for fast charging MediaTek PumpExpress 2.0 was noted. It is important to note that the model received a USB 2.0 Type-C connector. It should be noted that only the Sony Xperia XA1 Dual SIM version will officially enter the Russian market.

What used to be flagship is now quietly used in mid-range models. Here we are talking about the main camera, which migrated to the novelty of the Sony Xperia Z5 - a 23-megapixel 1 / 2.3-inch Exmor RS sensor with hybrid autofocus, a quick-start camera function from a button, a wide-angle lens with an aperture of f / 2.0. It is interesting to look at the optimization of the software part and whether Sony was able to improve the quality in comparison with the same Z5.

Selfie lovers will also not be upset by the 8MP front-facing camera, which is already familiar and does its job well. Well, you can see more detailed parameters of Sony Xperia XA1 below:

  • Physical dimensions: 145 x 67 x 8 mm, 143 grams
  • Display technology: 5 inches, 1280 x 720 pixels, 294 ppi

  • Android 7.0 out of the box

The Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra is a new widescreen phablet with an impressive screen. It belongs to the middle price segment and has good technical characteristics. The smartphone appeared on the market quite recently, but has already won its audience. After several not very successful models, in this device the manufacturer decided to take into account all the disadvantages and try to make a device that would look like a premium model, had a decent filling, attract with additional features and at the same time would be quite affordable in terms of cost. Let's take a closer look at how they succeeded.

Design and delivery of the smartphone Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra

The device looks very stylish and recognizable, like any modern product from Sony. For a long time, the corporation has been trying to adhere to one direction in the appearance of its mobile gadgets, and with this they clearly did not lose. Those who prefer elongated cases with prominent, contoured right corners and sloping, rounded for convenience, side edges, minimalism and aristocratic brevity, especially inherent in business style, will definitely pay attention to the Xperia XA1 Ultra model. The device is available in the following colors:

  • black;
  • White;
  • gold;
  • pink.
And if the first two colors are unconditional classics, which will always be in demand, then the latter will definitely find their admirers among stylish girls and fashionistas who follow trends.

Also, the product boasts a small thickness and a very large screen area. In general, the dimensions are as follows:

  • width - 79 mm;
  • length - 165 mm;
  • thickness - 8.1 mm.
The novelty weighs 188 grams.

It seems that with such dimensions it will be quite problematic to operate it with one hand, but this will cause difficulty only for a fragile girl with an elegant handle. Although, in this case, you can get used to it pretty quickly. The device is not slippery at all, it is easy and convenient to hold it. It should be borne in mind that there is a mini-display function that greatly facilitates management.

All parts are well matched to each other, nothing lags behind, there are no backlashes, wobbling and rattling. There is an aluminum frame around the body, there is a reliable protective glass with a 2.5D effect. The edges and surfaces flow very smoothly into each other, which creates a feeling of reliability, integrity and high cost. The back cover is made of high quality, non-soiled, matte plastic. On it you can see the name of the Xperia series in the middle, and on top in the corner there is a camera module and a flash. The front part is occupied by the screen itself, wide top and bottom, as well as narrow side frames. On the upper frame is the name of the company, a proximity and light sensor, a front camera and a flash for photographing in the dark. On the side faces there is a lock button, a rocker for adjusting the volume, a key for quick access to shooting. All connectors, speakers, control buttons are located in intuitive and accessible places, as convenient as possible for the user.

Together with the main product, the buyer is delivered:

  • all the necessary paper documentation;
  • Bluetooth headset (speaker SBH56);
  • convenient cover stand;
  • charger using fast charging technology.
The company store also has a number of accessories suitable for this model. If you wish, you can also get a charging dock, a personal assistant Xperia Ear, a bracelet with a heart rate monitor and fitness tracker, various types of mono and stereo headsets.

Screen specifications Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra

The Sony Xperia XA1 has an excellent 6-inch large screen. It cannot be called frameless, like the Sony model, since when turned on, small black borders are visible. The resolution of this Full HD model is full 1080 pixels. This is normal for daily use. You shouldn't expect anything beyond incredible from the image, but for a mid-priced device, everything is very good. As for useful innovations, there is:
  1. Tempered Corning Gorilla Glass. It protects the screen of the device from external damage, shock, falls. Its rounded edges create a 2.5D 3D effect.
  2. Image enhancement technology.
Fairly good viewing angles, adjustable brightness and, of course, size leave a positive impression on the display. I was pleased with the high-quality color rendition and the lack of inversion when tilted.

Review of cameras and sound Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra

Both camera modules, both main and front, have high resolution. According to the manufacturer, now even dim light and evening time will not interfere with high-quality photos. Selfie Camera Key Features:
  1. Wide-angle lens, 23mm f / 2.0 aperture. With its help, you can shoot a large company, and none of your friends will be offended without getting into the frame.
  2. Optical image stabilization. Your photos will not be blurry or blurry even in motion.
  3. Good light sensitivity (up to ISO 6400). The output image is of high quality, with good detail and no noise.
  4. Resolution 16 megapixels. For a front-facing selfie camera, this is just a great figure today.
  5. 1 / 2.6 "Exmor RS sensor. It is specially designed for mobile devices and allows you to get good photos even in a nightclub or in the twilight of an evening city.
  6. Smart flash. It adjusts itself to the light around it to obtain the best image.
  7. Gesture shooting function. To turn it on, just show your palm to the camera, it will work on a timer.
The main camera did not disappoint either, its characteristics are as follows:
  1. The resolution is 23 MP.
  2. 1 / 2.3-inch Exmor RS sensor.
  3. High sensitivity ISO 6400. Sometimes, thanks to this, the photos may not be entirely realistic and too saturated, but such a picture has many fans, so you shouldn't call it a minus.
  4. The lens in this case is also wide-angle, at 24 mm. Aperture - f / 2.0.
  5. There is a Clear Image zoom with a 5x magnification.
  6. State-of-the-art SteadyShot technology that stabilizes the image while shooting video. A very useful innovation for those who like to shoot on the move.
  7. Hybrid Intelligent AF.
The side panel has a mechanical button for quick launch and shooting.

To listen to music in good quality and at high volume, there are technologies:

  1. SmartAmp. It delivers brightness, depth and rich bass.
  2. Clear Audio +. Branded, from Sony, it adjusts the equalizer and sets the frequency balance, which makes the sound clearer and clearer, without noise and distortion.
The possibility of stereo recording is supported. The set includes a Bluetooth headset. Many users today are not very flattering about the overall experience of wireless sound, and this applies to gadgets at different price points. Therefore, the manufacturer took a prudent attitude towards this and put codecs and aptX / A2DP profiles into the device, which allow you to achieve stereo sound without losing quality. If you still doubt it, you can always separately purchase the headphones that suit you.

To watch a movie without a headset, you can position the phablet on the stand case. The sound produced by the single speaker located at the bottom of the product is loud but of poor quality. Many testers noted excessive noise and significant distortion in it. Also, the earpiece caused criticism when using, due to insufficient volume.

Hardware and operating system Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra

The heart of the device is the MediaTek Helio P20 64-bit processor with eight cores of which:
  1. 4 are clocked at 2.3 GHz.
  2. 4 with a frequency of 1.6 GHz.
This is an energy efficient and reasonably efficient chipset with advanced multitasking.

As for the memory, it is quite enough for normal operation, but of course it is not enough for modern resource-intensive games:

  1. RAM in the device is 4 gigabytes.
  2. Internal can be 32 or 64 GB eMMC type. Of this, about ten gigabytes goes to software.
The device supports microSDXC (up to 256 GB), so you can always increase the volume, if the need arises, simply by purchasing and installing a card.

The gadget has the Android 7.0 (Nougat) operating system. The user interface is pleasant to the eye, simple and fast, does not slow down and quickly performs all the tasks. There are a number of pre-installed applications with a lot of functionality. In addition to the standard ones (Music, Album, News, Video), you can highlight:

  1. Spotify. Streaming service for listening to music online. Not yet available for use in Russia.
  2. Movie Creator. For creating short videos, working with video cuts, adding various effects.
  3. AR effect. An augmented reality application that creates instant effects for videos and photos.
  4. Sound Photo.
  5. What's New. An analogue of the Play Store.
When using it, one gets the impression that this smartphone thinks and develops together with the owner. The longer you use it, the more convenient and intelligent it becomes. Thanks to Xperia Assist, the device learns the wearer's habits and quickly adapts to them.

Autonomy Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra

In this case, the battery with a capacity of 2700 mAh is responsible for work without recharging. This is quite a small figure for a phablet with such a large screen. How quickly the device sits down is not indicated by the manufacturer, but the first official tests pleasantly surprised, showing that with an average load with the screen always on, it will work for about ten and a half hours. Among the interesting, useful additional features, I would like to highlight:
  1. Qnovo Adaptive Charging. This is an adaptive charging technology that regulates the level of the transmitted current during connection to the network. Thus, it protects the battery from unnecessary wear and tear and allows it to function normally for much longer.
  2. Quick Charging. The fast charging function allows you to charge your device in minutes. This is very useful for business and active people who always need to stay in touch.
  3. STAMINA mode. Allows, by restricting access to some applications and other tricks, to reduce battery consumption, thereby extending the overall battery life.

Price, pros and cons of the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra smartphone

Finally, let's take a look at the pros and cons of the product. The positive aspects include:
  1. Big, good screen. It is pleasant to work, play, watch videos on it.
  2. Mini display function. To reduce the work area, create a mini-copy of the screen, which is convenient to operate with one hand.
  3. Android 7.0 (Nougat).
  4. Sufficient battery life.
  5. Flash and selfie camera quality.
  6. Affordable price.
Among the cons:
  1. Oversaturation of colors in the photo from the main camera module.
  2. Poor sound from speakers.
  3. Some useless preinstalled apps that cannot be completely uninstalled.
Everyone can attribute large sizes to both positive and negative sides. It's a matter of purely personal taste and how comfortable it is for you to use such large devices. To summarize, the manufacturer has turned out to be a very good device with a good technical filling, which can be purchased at an affordable cost. It looks expensive, works well, copes with the stated tasks to the fullest. What else do you need to say with confidence that the model turned out to be successful?

The price of the Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra smartphone in Russia is from 27,000 rubles. A video review of the device is presented below:

One of three smartphones presented at IFA 2017. A mid-range model with seemingly ordinary characteristics, but a number of small, but nice chips and features.

Appearance and materials

In terms of design, we have a typical Sony Style: sharp corners, austere appearance, large bezels at the top and bottom. The smartphone is sold in four colors: pink, gold, blue and black. It was the last one that I had on the test.

The back cover is made of practical matte plastic. In the black version, smudges and prints are noticeable at a certain angle, let me assume that all this is not visible on lighter cases.

The upper and lower ends are also plastic, while the side edges are made of aluminum.

Controls, assembly

Above the display you can see the peephole of the front camera, light and proximity sensors, a mesh of the earpiece, as well as an indicator light.

On the right side are the power button, volume rocker and camera key. The button contains a fingerprint scanner, so it is slightly recessed into the body. Placing the scanner on the side saves space under the screen and simplifies the unlocking process, because your finger immediately rests on the scanner, but if you need to view information from the lock screen, it will be problematic, because when you touch, the display will immediately unlock.

On the left, there is a tray for two nanosIM cards and a slot for a memory card. Important: the slot and the tray are not combined, now this is rarely seen.

At the bottom there is a Type C port and an external speaker, and at the top there is a minijack and a second microphone.

For a month of use, I did not have any problems with the assembly, the device does not creak, does not play, and there are no gaps.

Dimensions (edit)

I always want to call the design of Sony smartphones strict and light. The renders and photographs give the impression that the devices are thin and light. Unfortunately, these descriptions have nothing to do with the XA1 Plus. The smartphone is thick and heavy, while it is completely incomprehensible what this is connected with, pay attention to the competitors from the table, each of them is thinner and lighter, while the smallest battery capacity is in the XA1 Plus. After the same XZ1, XA1 Plus feels completely different. I know that there are people who love to feel the weight of a smartphone in their hands, but I am not one of them, so I will attribute the dimensions to the shortcomings of the model.

Compared to Apple iPhone 7 Plus

Screen

The smartphone uses a high-quality display: it has good viewing angles, there is no air gap, the color rendition is close to natural, the brightness range is above average. I liked the good oleophobic coating and the high resolution of the screen. Automatic brightness is too aggressive, you have to manually tweak it.

Separately, I note the small side frames around the display, it feels like the glass bends a little at the edges, literally a little bit, but the perception of the frames is completely different because of this.

But the upper and lower bezels, traditionally for Sony, are large. Someone may not like this, but I did not feel much discomfort during use.

Despite the large diagonal, the smartphone has a rather large interface, I would attribute this to the disadvantages of the model, but, fortunately, you can change the scaling and size of the elements in the settings.

Sony is traditionally pleased with the ability to fine-tune the display. You can change the white balance yourself and choose from three color presets.

Operating system

The smartphone runs Android 7.0 and the proprietary Xperia UI shell. Sony has plans to update it to 8.0, but so far the current firmware is running on the G7.

The Xperia UI changes the stock Android interface very neatly without modifying its appearance much. I like this approach. We recently released a detailed review of the Xperia UI, be sure to read it if you want to know more about the smartphone.

Performance

The performance of the device, in my opinion, is the second weak point of the smartphone (after the size). I tested a number of FHD-resolution models running on the Helio P20, and, in theory, this chipset should perfectly support FHD, but on the XA1 Plus there are slight slowdowns when scrolling the interface. This applies to both desktops and browsers with third party applications. Let me assume that it is more likely a lack of optimization than a lack of power in Helio P20. By the way, at your request, I am now running an additional test for the speed of the RAM. Its results are below.

Autonomous work

As I wrote above, the battery capacity is surprising with such a thickness and weight of a smartphone. However, let's not judge the book by its cover and look at the test results. And they, in general, are not bad: 10 hours in video mode, and 2% of the background discharge per night. Add to this that in everyday use you can count on 4-5 hours of the display on, and we get a pretty good picture.

By the way, the smartphone supports fast charging using MediaTek Pump Express + 2.0 technology, the smartphone fully charges in about 80-85 minutes.

Camera

Daytime shots with a smartphone are quite good, but artificial lighting and night photography are much harder for him. Keep in mind that shots in this light will be either blurry or noisy. At night, the picture also turns out to be overexposed, you have to manually reduce the brightness.

Video shooting is usual for this price segment, but the selfie camera pleased with the presence of autofocus. Examples of pictures are below.

Wireless interfaces

Sony can only be praised in terms of wireless interfaces. Firstly, the smartphone supports the aptX codec, secondly, it has separate slots for memory cards and SIM cards, and thirdly, it has a full-fledged NFC module, which is rare for this price segment.

Conclusion

I have no complaints about the quality of speech transmission, you and your interlocutor can hear each other perfectly. The external speaker is mono, but at the same time loud enough, you are unlikely to miss an incoming call or notification.

The retail price for the Xperia XA1 Plus is 20 thousand rubles. For this money, the device turned out to be somewhat contradictory. On the one hand, it has many advantages: good battery life, Type C port, NFC support, aptX wireless codec, high-quality display, separate slots for SIM cards and memory cards. On the other hand, there are also enough shortcomings: thick and heavy body, average performance, not such a good camera.

In the segment up to 20 thousand, XA1 Plus has many competitors from Chinese companies, here both ordinary smartphones and newfangled full-screen ones. True, half of them lack a Type C port and almost none of them have an NFC module.

But the Chinese aren't the only competitors for the XA1 Plus. The Samsung Galaxy J7 2017, a strong Korean opponent, deserves a special mention. The J7 2017 also has an NFC module, a better camera, and the only drawbacks are the microUSB port. And even the trump card XA1 Plus, a separate slot for SIM and microSD, Samsung responds in kind.

And what happens in the end? If you need a bundle of NFC + Type C + separate slot + almost stock Android, while dimensions and the camera do not play a key role, then you should look towards the XA1 Plus. As soon as the priorities shift, strong competitors immediately appear in the form of Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi and Meizu.

In fact, Sony did almost everything perfectly, I would slightly work on the dimensions and performance (I would take the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 625), and an excellent device would come out. Especially for geeks who appreciate all these little things like NFC, Type C and split slots so much.

Sony at Mobile World Congress 2017 presented new models in the XA series, which received improved filling and will be the most affordable option for brand fans who cannot yet afford expensive flagships. Sony Xperia XA1 review showed that the smartphone received amazing audio and visual technologies, which, combined with a good camera and user-friendly interface, should ensure good demand in its niche. As part of this article, we will consider the strengths and weaknesses of a budget device so that you can understand whether it is worthy of your attention and the money that the manufacturer asks for it.

Specifications Sony Xperia XA1:

Equipment

Smartphone Xperia XA1 went on sale in a white cardboard box, which boasts a compact size. Removing the cover reveals the charger, USB Type-C cable, and documentation. No frills, just everything you need.

Sony Xperia XA1 design

The choice of buyers is available in four colors, among which everyone will find the best option for themselves - white, black, gold and pink.

The design has undergone some changes when compared to the original XA, but these smartphones have similarities. The XA1 stands out primarily for its more angular design, which is typical for the manufacturer's flagships last year.

The top as well as the bottom edge are flat, decorated with thin shiny bevels around the perimeter. Sony Xperia XA1 dual review showed that they decided to save on the materials of the case - it is plastic here, but the side edges are almost completely made of metal, which is needed to give the case more strength and protection in case of a fall. Due to this, when you hold the phone in your hand, you get the impression that it is all-metal.

The dimensions of the case have practically not changed, it has become 0.1 mm thinner and 1.5 mm less in height. But the XA1 weighs about 6 grams more. Sony Xperia XA1 ultra review showed that the bezels around the perimeter of the display have been reduced, making them almost invisible.

But the top and bottom margins are still large, and when the screen is unlocked, they seem especially large. They are even larger than in the first generation of the device. This resulted in the display-to-bezel ratio deteriorating from 72% to 71%. But there are also positive aspects - an oleophobic coating has appeared in the new model, which has a positive effect on the practicality of use.

The Sony Xperia XA1 ultra dual smartphone review shows that the space on the upper edge is occupied by a 3.5 mm mini-jack for a headset and a noise canceling microphone.

USB Type-C and the main microphone were brought down.

On the left is a tray for placing a pair of nano-format SIM cards and, which is pleasantly surprising, a separate slot for a microSD card.

On the right is a volume rocker, a power key and a proprietary physical button for releasing the camera shutter and quickly accessing it. The buttons are rather tight and do not play. Accidentally clicking on them will be very unlikely.

Fortunately, the back side is matte, there is even a semblance of a soft-touch coating, so fingerprints are not as noticeable as on the glass.

Sony Xperia XA1 black review makes it clear that the device is compact, which is the merit of a small display of 5 inches. Due to the almost complete absence of side frames, it is perceived as narrow and fits well in the palm of your hand, even if you have it small. The absence of sharp corners and smooth surfaces has a positive effect on the practicality of use.

The only thing that will be worthy of claims from our side is the wide bezels above and below the display. By the way, the keys here are on-screen, so you don't even have to try to find them on the bottom panel. This is a common trait for all devices of the manufacturer, which he is not going to give up.

Display

A review of the Sony Xperia XA1 ultra smartphone showed that it has a 5-inch IPS display with HD-resolution. Of course, this does not allow you to get a high density of pixels per inch - there are only 294 ppi. In terms of its characteristics, the screen has not changed a bit compared to the first generation. If we talk about the picture quality, then everything is typical for IPS matrices: natural and saturated colors, maximum viewing angles.

The dark color turns out to be a little lighter when you look at the display at a right angle, and when you change the viewing angles, the dark background is "illuminated" with purple or silver. The rest of the colors remain unchanged, only slightly decreases the brightness and contrast of the picture. This does not cause any discomfort in everyday life, because we are used to using the phone at a right angle.

There is a margin of brightness, but you can't call it big - 440 cd / m². In the bright sun, the screen fades noticeably, the picture remains readable. The minimum limitation of brightness could be made smaller - as much as 30 cd / m², so that in the dark it will seem bright at first. Contrast also leaves a lot to be desired - just 600: 1. But the strangest solution is a stripped-down multitouch that only supports up to 4 touches. There is a proprietary mode for improving the picture quality X Reality, but in reality the difference with the standard settings is practically zero.

Performance Sony Xperia XA1

The Sony Xperia XA1's specifications have improved in almost every way over the original XA. First of all, it is worth noting the use of a more powerful Helio P20 processor from Mediatek, in the structure of which there are 4 cores at 1.6 GHz and the same at 2.3 GHz. The amount of RAM was increased to 3 GB, and user memory - 32 GB, of which about 22 GB is available after the first start. Mali-T880MP2 is used for video processing. In terms of its filling, the smartphone has stepped far forward, approaching the middle segment.

Synthetics:

Sony Xperia XA1 specifications give a tangible performance boost and do well not only for everyday tasks, but also for games. But the problem common to most of the manufacturer's devices has not gone anywhere - when you create a large number of widgets on the desktop, the smoothness of the shell animation slightly sags.

Two modifications of the device are available for sale - with support for one or two SIM cards of the nanoSIM format, and a microSD card can be installed next to them.

Sound

Sony g3212 Xperia XA1 ultra review moves on to its multimedia capabilities. The volume of the earpiece will suit most users. The voice quality of the interlocutor is not ideal, but there is nothing to complain about. The multimedia speaker, which is rather average in quality, is another matter. There is a volume reserve, but it is not large, which makes it possible to miss a call in a noisy environment. The quality of music reproduction is average - there are no low frequencies at all, medium ones are sharp, and besides, there is an unpleasant rattling when the volume is set to maximum. For playing music, it is poorly suited.

Wireless communications

The review of the Sony Xperia XA1 phone shows that it is stable in all conditions. There is support for Russian LTE frequencies and Wi-Fi, which stably catches the signal even at a distance from the router. GPS and GLONASS finds satellites in a matter of seconds and accurately determines the location, without causing any difficulties when navigating on the ground. With Bluetooth, everything is just as smooth.

Interface

The Xperia XA1 works under the control of Android 7.0, but with a proprietary shell, which practically does not differ in its design. Additions are made to maintain the corporate image of the company. The user can use ready-made design themes and customize almost any interface element for himself.

Autonomy

Sony Xperia XA1 ultra 32gb dual black review goes to the battery, which has become one of the weakest points of the new model. When playing HD videos, it lasted about 7 hours, and in games about 20% of the charge is lost per hour. The battery capacity is only 2300 mAh, which is the main disadvantage, it only draws out a good optimization of the shell and the famous Stamina mode. When you activate the latter, you can almost double the autonomy. In emergency situations, Ultra Stamina will help, but it not only improves autonomy, but also severely limits performance, which will cause the smartphone to fail when performing complex tasks.

Cameras

Sony Xperia XA1 review of the camera showed that they did an excellent job with it, it became much better than its predecessor. First of all, a new sensor of the main camera of 23 megapixels with an aperture of f / 2.0 is installed here. With a standard aspect ratio of 4: 3, you can get a picture with a resolution of 5520x4144 pixels or 23 megapixels.

In an aspect ratio of 16: 9, it is trimmed down to 20 megapixels. At the same time, it is slightly, but still increasing, the number of pixels horizontally - 5984x3376. For quick access to the camera, you can use the physical key located on the right edge. she launches the Camera application at that hour, even if the screen was locked.

Sony Xperia XA1 ultra 64gb camera review makes it clear that in most cases the “super auto” mode will be enough. It offers a minimum of custom settings - brightness, saturation, frame size, self-timer and activation of tracking the subject. When the scene turns out to be too complicated for automation, you can switch to manual shooting mode, which opens up the ability to set your own parameters for light sensitivity, white balance, shutter speed, as well as manually control the focus and much more. The video is recorded in FullHD at 30 frames per second, there is no 4K shooting mode.

With good lighting, it is possible to get really high-quality, rich and well-detailed images. The work of the sharpen filter becomes especially noticeable when peering into small details at 100% magnification.

Sony Xperia XA1 ds 32 GB review demonstrates that noise appears when shooting at night, detail suffers. At the same time, the work of the “noise control” cannot be called aggressive, in this regard, in order to obtain good quality pictures, you have to do several takes, one of them will definitely turn out to be good. HDR works very carefully, making details hidden in shadows more visible without oversaturation.

The review of Sony XA1 makes it clear that the overall impressions of the camera are pleasant, you can't expect such good results, given the cost of the device. It's not for nothing that Sony produces its sensors, which are installed in most smartphones around the world.

Conclusion

The advantages of the Sony XA1 include high build quality, a decent camera and modern hardware, which makes it a striking proposition in its price range. It will suit most users, but it's not perfect. Our complaints concern the display, as well as the battery, the capacity of which is very small by modern standards.
