samsung galaxy A 2019: A complete comparison of the smartphone series

Today we will have a very interesting article because we'll be talking about new series smartphones from the company - Galaxy A 2019. We will compare seven smartphones, from the budget - Galaxy A10 to the flagship - Galaxy A70.

In fact, only three mobile devices and already available for sale - Galaxy A10, A30 and A50. Other smartphones - Galaxy A20, A40, A60 and A70 - will be released next month - in April 2019.

We decided to compare specifications new smartphones and find out the main differences between them.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Specs

In the table below, you can see the specifications of all seven smartphones from the Samsung Galaxy A 2019 series.

I want to note that the Galaxy A60 and A70 have not been officially announced yet, so some specifications may not be correct. Anyway, we can present the big picture and find the main differences between these devices.

Let's talk about them in more detail.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Design

Smartphones from the Galaxy A 2019 series have a similar design. All of them have a waterdrop notch above the display and a plastic case in different colors: black, white, red and blue.

Budget smartphones like the Galaxy A10, A20, A30, A40 have dual cameras on the back while the Galaxy A50, A60 and A70 come with triple cameras. In addition, budget models are equipped with a fingerprint scanner on the back, while more expensive devices have an under-display fingerprint scanner.

All smartphones of the Samsung Galaxy A 2019 series have two SIM cards and a dedicated slot for a microSD memory card. It's great that even the budget smartphone Galaxy A10 supports a memory card up to 512 GB.

Only the Galaxy A10 and A20 have microUSB ports, while the other five smartphones ship with the new USB Type-C.

Of course, smartphones come in different sizes because they all offer a different screen size.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Display

As far as the display is concerned, only the most budget smartphone - the Galaxy A10 - has an IPS LCD panel. Other devices from the Galaxy A series received Super AMOLED panels.

You might think that the Galaxy A10 has the smallest display, but it doesn't. In fact, the Galaxy A40 has the smallest display size at 5.9 inches. The Galaxy A10 has a 6.2-inch screen while the Galaxy A70 has a 6.7-inch one. The rest of the smartphones come with 6.4-inch screens.

In terms of resolution, only the Galaxy A10 and A20 have HD+, while other smartphones come with Full HD+. I don't think it's a surprise. Most budget smartphones have a low screen resolution.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Performance

As we have already found out, the Galaxy A10 and Galaxy A20 are the most budget smartphones in the new Samsung series. They are powered by an Exynos 7884 processor. The smartphones score around 90,000 points in AnTuTu, which is a pretty good result.

Galaxy A30 is powered by Exynos 7904, Galaxy A40 has Exynos 7885 and Galaxy A50 comes with Exynos 9610.

On the this moment we do not know the Galaxy A60 and A70 processors because the smartphones have not been officially announced.

In terms of memory, the Galaxy A10 only has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, the Galaxy A20 has 3GB of RAM, while other smartphones come with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. The Galaxy A70 also received a version with 8 GB of RAM.

As I said, all devices support microSD memory cards up to 512 GB.

Well, the Galaxy A10 has entry-level hardware, while the Galaxy A70 is the most powerful smartphone in the lineup. The Galaxy A50 is the sweet spot because it comes with a 10nm Exynos 9610 processor.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Camera

As you might have guessed, the Galaxy A10 is the cheapest smartphone in the series, which is why it only has one camera on the back. This is a 13 megapixel sensor. On the front, it has a 5MP camera. In fact, I do not expect high quality photos from this smartphone.

The Galaxy A20 has a dual rear camera setup with 13MP and 5MP sensors. Front camera 8 MP.

It looks like the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A40 have the same main cameras - 16 and 5 megapixels. On the other hand, the Galaxy A40 has a 25MP front camera, while the A30 only has a 16MP one.

The Galaxy A50, A60 and A70 look very impressive with a triple camera on the back. They all have similar photomodules with a 25MP main sensor, a second wide-angle lens and a third depth effect sensor. They also offer a 25 megapixel selfie camera.

As you can imagine, the last three smartphones are in the flagship category, and they will take high-quality photos. The Galaxy A30 and A40 are mid-range smartphones, but they can still take good pictures.

The Galaxy A20 is a budget smartphone, but it has a dual camera on the back, so portrait mode will be available.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Battery

The Galaxy A40 has the smallest display at 5.9 inches, so it has the smallest battery at just 3100 mAh. The ultra-budget Galaxy A10 smartphone is equipped with a 3400 mAh battery.

The Galaxy A20, A30, A50 batteries have a capacity of 4000 mAh, while the Galaxy A60 and A70 have 4500 mAh. In addition, the latest two smartphones will support 25W fast charging.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Price

Finally, let's talk about price. I think you already understood that the price goes up from Galaxy A10 to A70. You can see the approximate prices of smartphones below:

  • Galaxy A10: $120
  • Galaxy A20: $205
  • Samsung Galaxy A30: $245
  • Samsung Galaxy A40: $260
  • Galaxy A50: $290
  • Galaxy A60: $405
  • Samsung Galaxy A70: $500

Conclusion

So we have compared the specs of all Galaxy A series 2019 smartphones. As you can see, Galaxy A10 is the cheapest smartphone with 3400mAh battery and single camera on the back. However, it has a modern design, waterdrop notch, large display and pretty good performance.

If you want a compact smartphone, then the Galaxy A40 is worth looking at. It has a 5.9-inch Full HD display, 25MP selfie camera, good performance, but only a 3100mAh battery.

The Galaxy A50 is the sweet spot. It has good performance thanks to 10nm Exynos 9610 processor, large memory, triple rear camera, 25MP front camera and 4000mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy A20, A30, A50 Video review

Brilliant books withstand dozens of reprints. Among smartphones, this is a rarity, but if the series is “re-released”, this only means that buyers appreciated it.

Review of the Samsung Galaxy J 2018 line - read

Samsung has re-released the Galaxy J series. New devices - from J1 mini to J7 - are budget branded smartphones with decent features, traditionally impeccable build and emphasized stylish lightweight design. Each of them will find their fans. Why, we tell below.

The Samsung Galaxy J1 mini is a versatile entry-level smartphone.

Compact and inexpensive. At the same time, he received a very good “stuffing”. It is based on a Spreadtrum SC8830 quad-core processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz, which is complemented by 750 MB of RAM. And this is the first reason for the low price of a smartphone.

Of course, now 1 GB is considered the “gold standard” for budget smartphones, but thanks to proprietary optimization technologies, a rare application on the J1 mini will slow down. And, to be honest, this is not the device that is bought for the coolest games like Asphalt 8. However, it launches “light” toys perfectly, as well as applications for social networks, instant messengers, fitness programs, etc. And the browser is working fine.

Built-in memory in J1 mini - 8 GB, if it seems a little, there is a slot for microSD cards up to 128 GB. There are two SIM-card slots: one can be used for cheap Internet, the other for inexpensive calls to numbers of all operators.

The resolution of the main camera is 5 megapixels, enough for shooting everyday scenes. The matrices of Samsung smartphones are traditionally sensitive, so the camera is ahead of many budget "Chinese" with 8 megapixels in terms of quality. The resolution of the front camera is 0.3 MP. Skype is enough - cameras of the same resolution are usually installed in laptops.

The second reason for the low price is the screen. Its diagonal is only 4 inches, resolution is 480x800 pixels, matrix type is TFT. In general, the ratio of diagonal and resolution is excellent, individual points can only be seen from a distance of several centimeters, but in bright sunlight the display contrast is lost.

The smartphone is powered by a 1500 mAh battery. With such a processor and screen resolution, you don’t need more, the charge confidently lasts all day. J1 mini comes pre-installed with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, supports connection with 3G, GPS and GLONASS networks.

The Samsung Galaxy J1 is a full-size version of the J1 mini with improved specifications.

A smartphone based on a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor includes 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of permanent memory (a microSD card slot is present). This means that in comparison with the mini version, it will be possible to run more applications at the same time, set higher settings in games. But the shell in both models does not slow down, standard applications run smoothly and do not freeze.

The screen of the smartphone has a diagonal of 4.5 inches. Close to ideal: for example, recent studies have shown that the most comfortable screen size, according to residents from different countries world is 4.7 inches. But the most important thing is that the display here is Super AMOLED: which means that neither the light of a huge chandelier nor direct Sun rays he is not afraid - it will be possible to consider even small print.

The smartphone can work in 4G/LTE networks, providing a stable high-speed Internet connection. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and GLONASS are also supported.

The resolution of the main camera is the same 5 megapixels, the front one is 2 megapixels. Selfies will be much better than the mini version!

The battery capacity of the Samsung Galaxy J1 is 2050 mAh - enough for a whole day of use, or for 9 hours of talking or surfing the Internet without interruption.

The thickness of the smartphone is only 8.9 mm! Slim, stylish and very harmonious, it is perfect for those users who do not buy a device for latest games, but they want an elegant "workhorse" for a reasonable price.

Samsung Galaxy J3 is a functional smartphone in an elegant body with good performance and LTE support.

A 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, a 5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels - almost everything you need for happiness.

The device has 8 GB of permanent memory, but thanks to the microSD memory card slot, it can be expanded by another 128 GB. Battery capacity - 2600 mAh: this is up to 11 hours of browsing the Internet or playing video. There is a power saving mode that allows you to seriously increase the battery life - very important on vacation!

One of the main differences between the Samsung Galaxy J3 and J1 is the camera. The resolution of the main one is already quite serious 8 megapixels, the front one is 5 megapixels. You can get impressive photos in any conditions, as well as selfies that will collect hundreds of likes on social networks.

The smartphone supports GPS and GLONASS networks, 4G/LTE, Bluetooth 4.0. It will provide instant application loading, launch of almost any game and comfortable switching between simultaneously running programs.

Samsung Galaxy J5 - It is very cool: powerful and stylish!

The Samsung Galaxy J5 is powered by the popular 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, a time-tested, battery-saving processor. 2 GB of RAM is enough for “heavy” games like dynamic racing, and you can’t even talk about the fact that you can simultaneously run several clients for social networks, a messenger and a browser - everything works without “brakes”.

The amount of permanent memory Samsung Galaxy J5 is 8 GB. If you need more, a microSD card slot up to 128GB is available.

The smartphone received a bright 5.2-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. Samsung screens are traditionally considered among the best: rich colors, maintaining brightness and contrast in any conditions, wide viewing angles, tempered protective glass - that's the secret of success!

The cameras are also decent: the resolution of the front is 5 megapixels, the main one is 13 megapixels. The quality of the selfie will not disappoint you!

Of course, the Samsung Galaxy J5 supports 4G/LTE networks, connects via Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS and Wi-Fi – everything you need is at hand. The battery capacity of the smartphone is 3100 mAh - up to 13 hours of video or Internet surfing is provided to you.

In general, Samsung gets a solid "five" for this smartphone - a cool model is relatively inexpensive, while objectively it has no shortcomings.

Samsung Galaxy J7 - The most productive smartphone in the line.

Galaxy J7 received a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels and a design that is very reminiscent of last year's flagship Samsung Galaxy S6. By the way, the body of the Samsung Galaxy J7 is metal, which is rare for budget smartphones.

Samsung is one of the few consumer technology manufacturers that has chosen not to compromise. In the model line of this company there are the most powerful and largest smartphones, which are also recognized as the most stylish. In general, we can probably distinguish two main series of devices from the Korean company - these are Galaxy S and Galaxy Note. There is a significant difference between them, because the Note line is positioned as full-fledged phablets, and the Galaxy S as productive smartphones. A phablet is essentially a smaller tablet computer that can be conveniently used as a phone. The diagonal of phablets is from 5 to 7 inches, making it very comfortable to read news, print text and work with documents with their help. But unfortunately in the electronic world, the criterion "the more the better" does not always work. Many users simply find it inconvenient to hold such a large unit as a phablet in their hand.

The Galaxy Note line of devices today has already received four generations, exactly the same as the Galaxy S. At the same time, smartphones were released to the market in 2010, and phablets a year later. The Galaxy Note diagonal has grown over the years from 5.3 to 5.7 inches, and the S series from 4 to 5 inches.

When it comes to performance, phablets undoubtedly win here. For example, the latest Galaxy Note has 3 GB of RAM, which is comparable to a full-fledged PC, while the Galaxy S 4 has 2 GB of RAM. But on the other hand, the smartphone is equipped with an eight-core processor, and the phablet is equipped with a quad-core one, which also has its impact on performance.

The resolution of the cameras in the two competing devices was almost always the same. The latest models of phablets and smartphones have acquired a 13 MP main camera and a 2 MP front camera. At the same time, at the very beginning of the development of devices, the resolution of their cameras was 8 megapixels, which is a lot even today.

All Samsung devices are equipped with Super AMOLED, which provides excellent color reproduction and image clarity. Also, all devices work under the Android operating system, which has already become a tradition. Additionally, the Samsung phablet is always equipped with an original stylus for convenient work with applications.

In terms of battery capacity, the Galaxy Note is undoubtedly equipped with a more powerful battery, but this is only due to large sizes display that requires a lot of resources.

What to choose - Galaxy S smartphone or Galaxy Note phablet is only a matter of taste. By and large, the difference is only in size, and the reliability of these two devices is at the same level.

It is the most popular in the world trademark smartphones, from flagship and super-expensive, to more modest and very affordable workhorses. Sometimes, the devices of the middle and lower lines from this manufacturer are so close in terms of parameters that it is difficult to choose one model. And this is where our collection comes in.

The best Samsung smartphone

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus

Samsung has flagships and a little cheaper - these are the S8 and S8 Plus models, as well as the rather interesting Samsung Galaxy S8 Active model. All phones in the Galaxy S series are resistant to dust and moisture, but Active can be considered the most protected of them.

Worthy of mention:

Samsung Galaxy Note 8

After a difficult and controversial 2016, samsung line Galaxy Note leveled its positions and even improved them. High-end specs, great design, dual cameras, and new software make the Galaxy Note 8 one of the best Android smartphones around.

The almost borderless 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Infinity display with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 is one of the highlights of this device. It may seem a little big, but due to the form factor it fits comfortably in the hand. The smartphone's new App Pairing feature allows you to work in multi-window mode with two applications at once, and the S Pen stylus will also delight you with new features.

The dual camera setup with an additional 12-megapixel sensor and optical stabilization allows you to take clear and sharp photos, as well as portraits with a bokeh effect in almost any lighting conditions.

The disadvantages include only the inconvenient location of the fingerprint scanner and the high price.

Mid range Samsung phones

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) and A5 (2017)

The Galaxy A family can be attributed to the middle line of smartphones from Samsung. Despite the fact that the parameters of the Galaxy A7 and A5 are simpler than those of Galaxy smartphones S7 and S8, they fill their niche and are attractive at a much lower price.

In the first model, the diagonal of the super AMOLED screen is 5.7 inches, and in the second - 5.2, the resolution of both is 1080p. The battery capacity is 3600 mAh and 3000 mAh respectively. Both devices are equipped with a Samsung Exynos 7 Octa 7880 processor and 3 GB of RAM. Built-in volume

Worthy of mention:

Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

Despite the fact that the Galaxy S6 series is two years old, it offers users quite solid options. The problem, again, is operating system, which is already a little outdated, and there are not so many chances for users to wait for an update.

Samsung Galaxy C7 / C7 Pro / C5 Pro

The C7 series is not as widespread in the markets, although it is much more productive than the more famous A series, offering more RAM and internal memory.

The best budget Samsung smartphone

Samsung Galaxy J7 / J7 Prime / J7 V

If we talk about Samsung's budget smartphones, then you should pay attention to the J7 series. It has several models - each with its own parameters. For example, the J7 and J7 Prime have an Exynos 7870 processor, while the J7 V has a Snapdragon 625. The Prime model offers 3GB of RAM, while the other two come with 2GB of RAM. In addition, Prime and standard J7 are equipped with a main camera of 13 megapixels.

As for the screen, it is the same size in all models (5.5 inches), but the resolution and manufacturing technology are different. The Prime has a 1080 x 1920 LCD (compared to the J7 and J7 V which are 720 x 1280 Super AMOLED and TFT respectively). The rest of the parameters are the same - 16 GB of internal memory on board, a microSD card slot, a 3300 mAh battery. In the Prime model, the battery is non-removable.

Worthy of mention:

Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017)

Are you looking for something budget but small? Then Galaxy A3 with its compact 4.7-inch display will be a good purchase. Its other parameters are the same as those of the J7 series, with the exception of the battery - here it is smaller, only 2350 mAh.

Samsung Galaxy C5

If the C7 and C7 Pro models are practically the same phone in different sizes, then the difference between the C5 and C5 Pro is much larger. Model C5 is suitable for owners of not too much money, but it will offer good options. This is a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080p, and a Snapdragon 617 processor, plus 4 GB of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of internal memory. The main camera of the device is 16 MP, the front camera is 8 MP, the capacity of the non-removable battery is 2600 mAh. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0.

Samsung Galaxy S3

May 2012 marked the release of the next smartphone in the Galaxy S line. Samsung Galaxy S3, iPhone 5 and Lumia 920 became the top three smartphones of the year. In addition to improved technical performance, the phone has a new Smart Stay technology.

Its essence is to save the display brightness settings and not block the smartphone when front-camera fixes the user's gaze on the display. Smartphone voice control technologies have been added, a vibration signal if the user picks up a phone with missed calls, people recognition in photos and matching among friends on social networks, and several other functions.

All modifications are based on a 4-core Exynos 4 processor with a frequency of 1.4 GHz, with the exception of a device released specifically for the United States, based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 with 2 cores. Samsung Galaxy S4

Less than a year has passed since the introduction of the Galaxy S3 to the public, as a fresh flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S4, appeared on the shelves of electronics stores. Unlike the phone of the previous year, according to the latest trends, the novelty has a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and a pixel density of 441 dpi, a 13-megapixel camera, 2 GB of RAM and additional functions.

The performance of the Galaxy S4 has improved compared to previous models in the line, as it now has an 8-core processor. Depending on the required performance, the necessary 4 cores are included. For some countries, they released a model with a 4-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. The smartphone was equipped with several new sensors for measuring weather conditions (atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity) and gesture control. The device is able to work as a remote control.

The company abandoned FM radio in its devices, explaining that users began to listen to music on social networks and YouTube. In the arsenal of camera functions, panoramic shooting and the ability to overlay pictures one on top of the other, taken by different smartphone cameras, appeared. Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE was also released (more about it - http://spb.aport.ru/samsung_gt-i9505_galaxy_s4_lte/mod430516) and a "miniature" version of the Galaxy S4 mini with simplified specifications.

Samsung Galaxy S5

By tradition, at the beginning of 2014, a new Galaxy S5 model was released. Changes have been made to design, performance and camera. The highlight was the addition of a fingerprint scanner and a heart rate sensor. An additional bonus was the compliance of the smartphone with the IP67 certificate (dust and moisture protection).

As before, phones with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor (4 cores, 2.5 GHz) or Exynos 5422 (4 cores at 2.1 GHz plus 4 cores at 1.5 GHz) are presented for different markets. The RAM remains the same, only two memory options remain - 16 or 32 GB, supported removable storage media can have a capacity of up to 128 GB.

The screen has increased slightly to 5.1 inches, the resolution has not changed, the pixel density has decreased by 9 pixels. The 16-megapixel main camera can shoot video in the new Ultra HD format, while the 2.1-megapixel front camera shoots in Full HD. Initially, Android 4.4.2 was installed on the Galaxy S5, later updates to version 5 Lollipop became available.

Samsung Galaxy S6

The Galaxy S6 was announced in March 2015. Most of the characteristics have been significant changes. The design has changed and the body has become completely made of metal. For the first time in the past few years, the company decided to release its flagship only on its Exynos 7420 processor.
