Is your laptop unbearably slow and you don't know what to do with it? No need to yell, get nervous, throw the mouse or hit the keyboard with your hands. It won't help! I have more effective ways. If your laptop worked quite normally right after purchase, but today it started to glitch and slow down, then you will find the solution to your problem in this lesson.

How laptop slows down sometimes, is very familiar to me. I myself have a laptop that has to be optimized from time to time for normal operation. Let's look at 8 steps, after working through which our laptops will start to work well.

Laptop overheating

To date, a laptop is such a technique that most often heats up well, and if you do not clean the device from dust for a long time, then the laptop simply overheats and starts to slow down. The user begins to notice this in games, and a little later, glitches appear at every turn ( when watching a video, opening a browser, launching programs, etc.).

Use the program first AIDA64 to look at the temperature of the processor and graphics card. You can download it.

After installing AIDA64 on the left, open the Computer tab and then Sensors. The temperature will open on the right. pay attention to CPU(processor) and GP(video card).

If the temperature is very high, then it means that it's time to disassemble the laptop, clean it from dust and smear new thermal paste. If there is no experience in this topic, then of course I would entrust this work to a specialist.

Viruses in the system

If the speed of the laptop deteriorated not gradually, but sharply, that is, it worked well yesterday, but today it is terribly stupid, then the problem may be in malware. If you picked up somewhere, then it is because of him that the laptop can slow down.

I advise you to scan the system for malware. The installed antivirus is unlikely to fit here, it's better to download the free CureIT utility. It is free, does not require installation and always has fresh databases.

Run the downloaded file and click Full Scan.

At the end of the operation, neutralize the found threats and restart the laptop.

Of course not always laptop slows down due to viruses or overheating, since in order to bring components to overheating, you need to try hard, and malicious software enters the system mainly from novice users. In your case, the reasons " glitches and slowdowns"can be very different, and let's talk about them further.

Startup programs

The more programs you run on your laptop, the slower it will run. Sometimes we ourselves do not pay attention to how many different applications are running. The fact is that with some of them they are added to startup, that is, they automatically start when the laptop is turned on. These include Skype, ICQ, torrents, antiviruses, download managers and the like. Some of these programs are extremely rarely used, so why do they always work? Let's deal with them!

Press the key combination WIN + R on the keyboard and in the running program Run enter the msconfig command.

Will run System Configurations where you want to open the tab.

If you have Windows 7, then here you will see a list of all the programs that run with the laptop. And if you have Windows 8 or 10, then you still need to click the link " Open task manager". In this window, sometimes there are several dozen programs that, in addition to slowing down the startup of the system, also slow down the laptop during operation. So it turns out that the laptop slows down due to workload random access memory and processor. Remove the checkmarks from those programs that are not needed to work immediately after Windows starts.

Please note that there may be names of programs unknown to you. Do not rush to remove this program from startup. First of all, use the search engine and read the description of this program. Then draw your own conclusions!

After removing unnecessary programs from startup, it remains to apply the changes and restart the laptop.

Not enough space on the system drive

If the system drive on which Windows is installed is packed to capacity, then this can also be the cause of the laptop's unstable operation. I advise you to free up disk space using the following methods:

Littered registry

From all the trash - an important step towards the stable operation of the laptop. If you often install and remove programs, then the number of unnecessary entries in the registry grows greatly, and this affects the work. If you don't want to wonder from time to time, why laptop slows down and what to do, then remember to clean the registry.

You can clean the registry by clicking a few buttons in the free program CCleaner. Download, install and run.

Open the Registry tab and click Check for Issues.

Found entries need to be corrected and the operation repeated a couple of times.

6. Not enough RAM

Right-click on the Computer section and select Properties.

In the window that opens, find the line Installed memory. It shows the amount of RAM on our computer.

If you have 2 gigabytes or even less, then this can cause programs to run slowly, suddenly close, or even freeze. Ideally, you need to increase the amount of RAM to 4 gigabytes by buying one or two memory sticks. Of course, it is not always possible to do this, so at least make sure that y is set in the system ( The swap file is the addition of RAM at the expense of memory hard drive ).

Checking and defragmenting the disk

The next step to saving a laptop is checking the hard drive for errors and defragmenting it. You can read more about that in my other lesson, but here I will only show you how to do it correctly and thereby speed up access to files on your hard drive.

Download Defraggler and install (free and easy).

After starting, we need to right-click on the disk and select Advanced - Finding disk errors.

After the analysis is complete, you can start defragmenting. Right-click on the disk again and select the next item Defragmentation.

This procedure is not fast. It can last for several minutes or several hours.

Laptop is very weak

If your laptop slows down, then you can speed it up by following all the above steps. I just want to say that this not a solution to all problems, especially if you have the cheapest and weakest laptop. Do not run a lot of programs, make sure that the laptop does not overheat, do not litter it with rubbish and remove viruses at the slightest danger. This will be the basic rules for the more or less stable operation of a weak laptop.

Bonus Chips!

If nothing helps and laptop is still slow, I'm very surprised. Usually these 8 ways solve most of the problems and the laptop starts to work much better. But in extreme cases, I have additional advice.

Installing an SSD drive

My incredibly slow laptop after installing an SSD disk on it and installing Windows 10 on this disk, it began to work much faster.
I already wrote about this in my article:. There I described all the "miracles" of this type of drive. Unlike the classic hard disk drive (HDD), the latest SSD drives are much faster, which greatly affects the startup of the system, programs and work in them.

Reinstalling Windows

I understand that it is not always possible to fork out for a new thing. In this case, follow all the above-voiced points to optimize the laptop. Let me remind you, there are eight of them! Well, if nothing helps, then you have to "kill" all possible system problems at once.

Buying a new laptop

Of course, if you have a laptop bought a couple of years ago, then it's too early to look for a replacement.
And if your friend"Already 10 years old, I think it is extremely outdated and it remains either to put up with constant brakes and glitches, or buy a new modern laptop.

I hope my great article helped you" swing"your laptop. Good luck and see you in new articles and video tutorials.

IMPORTANT! P.S. Well, if your computer lags, then I advise you to read the lesson: There I told a few more tricks on optimization.

We will reveal the reasons why the laptop boots for a long time and slowly, what affects this factor and how to speed up the download operating system.

If you need professional help with laptop optimization or repair, please contact our service center in St. Petersburg.

In the course of using a laptop, users are faced with a situation where Windows takes too long to load or does not load at all. There are several reasons for this development.

Laptop needs to be cleaned of junk

People use a variety of programs in their work. Some of them leave behind files that load the computer. A large amount of system garbage leads to a serious processor load, which prevents the operating system's executable files from installing at their usual speed. The way out is to clean Windows. The service center masters have a complete set of programs that will return the OS to full performance.

Laptop needs to be dusted

Dust collects in important parts of the computer stuffing. This leads to the fact that the fans on the coolers stop spinning at the proper speed, which leads to overheating of the laptop parts. Accordingly, when the temperature of the central processor is too high, its work slows down - the computer takes longer to load or it becomes impossible to use it.

Cleaning a laptop is serious business. Unlike a desktop computer, there are many small parts, fasteners and clips that are easy to damage with a lack of experience.

Search and removal of viruses

Computer viruses are the scourge of the modern generation. They are united by the fact that any of them slows down the operating system, which results in a slow laptop boot. Fighting viruses is a complex process. It all depends on the severity of the malware. Service center programmers have the skills and the necessary software to fight viruses.

Reinstalling Windows

System failures render the operating system unusable. It becomes unusable. Another situation is that Windows files are damaged by viruses. It is almost impossible to restore them. In such cases, reinstalling the operating system will help. Only licensed programs and quality services are found in the service center.

Hard disk and RAM need to be checked/replaced

When system errors and malfunctions are excluded, attention is paid to the components of the laptop. Bad sectors of the hard disk and a malfunction of the RAM lead to slow loading. First, the wizards check the state of the hard drive memory cells using specialized utilities. If there are any, then the problem is fixed by deleting bad sectors, or by changing the entire hard drive.

Laptop upgrade

Any technique wears out over time, morally and physically. Therefore, sooner or later you will have to think about upgrading your computer. The service center specialists will select and install the necessary parts:

  • Video card.
  • RAM.
  • HDD.
  • CPU.

Laptop gets very hot

In the processors that modern computers are equipped with, protection against overheating is provided. With insufficient cooling, their clock frequency is gradually reduced, which slows down the speed of the system. Having heated up to a critical temperature, somewhere around 70 degrees, the laptop automatically turns off to prevent damage. The video card reacts similarly to overheating. discover this problem not difficult. As a rule, the laptop case becomes very warm, and not only the bottom. The cooler also starts to work intensively inside, creating a lot of noise. To accurately track temperatures, you need to install a specialized utility.

Due to overheating, the laptop runs slower and over time this can lead to breakdown. Usually the reason lies in the dust accumulated on the cooling elements. Be sure to periodically disassemble the laptop and clean the inside of the case. You can do it yourself, but if you don’t know how, then it’s better to contact a service center.

Offline mode

To increase battery life, the system reduces the frequencies of the processor, video card and memory. As a result, the laptop can last longer without recharging, although the overall performance is slightly reduced. But even in this case, the power should be enough for most programs.

If the decrease in performance is very noticeable, then you can manually switch to the standard mode. Then the speed of the processor, video card and memory will not be limited.

Virus infection

There are quite a few viruses that are written in such a way that they use the computer's resources to the maximum. Moreover, the longer the laptop is turned on, the more CPU and RAM resources are consumed. It is easy to identify this problem. It is enough to turn on the laptop and let it work for one or two hours without running any programs. Then we look in the task manager: are there any suspicious processes that use a lot of RAM and heavily load the processor. If yes, then with 99% probability the system is infected with viruses.

You can deal with the problem with any antivirus program, but it is recommended to use something different from what you currently have installed. Just do not forget before installing a new antivirus, uninstall the previous one. We do a full scan of the system and remove viruses. If suddenly the antivirus can not cope. Then by the name of the process we are looking for a solution to the problem on the Internet. Most likely, other users have encountered this problem and there are already solutions. If everything done does not help, you need to reinstall the operating system.

Registry clogging

Many in the process of using a computer often install and remove programs, games. When uninstalling, information from the registry is not always correctly deleted. Therefore, over time, it becomes clogged, which greatly reduces the speed of the laptop.

You need to clean the registry with special programs. Some of them can do registry cleaning on a full automatic basis according to a given schedule, while others will have to start the process manually. For example, the RegCleaner and CCleaner programs do an excellent job with this task. They can also be used to clean up startup lists and remove programs that you rarely use. This will reduce the boot time of the laptop.

"Programs-devourers" of system resources

Sometimes, due to improper installation of the application or due to the algorithm of their work, programs can continue to consume unreasonably many resources. As a result, the laptop will run slower than usual. You can identify such programs in the task manager.

If you cannot do without the program, then you can try to reinstall it or update to the latest version. As a rule, developers quickly eliminate such errors in the work of programs. As a last resort, you can manually stop the process every time you close the application.

Hard drive not defragmented

Information on the hard drive is written in a certain chain. But every day, thousands of files are overwritten, and as a result, fragments of one file can be scattered across different parts of the hard drive. Such files are called fragmented, and in order to read them, the hard drive reader has to make many “jumps” from one place to another. The more such files, the more noticeably the speed of the laptop decreases.

The defragmentation process will clean up the hard drive. In some cases, the speed of the system can increase by 50% or more. Windows already has this feature. The easiest way is to type the “defrag” command on the command line and press “Enter”, then select the disk partitions that need to be defragmented. There are also many third-party programs that do the job just as well. For normal defragmentation, partitions must have at least 15% free space. It is advisable to carry out the defragmentation process at least 1-2 times a month.

Today, a laptop is an extremely popular device, which is preferred by more and more users, even replacing their home desktop computers. However, over time, even a very powerful laptop starts to work more slowly, which can result, for example, in a very long boot at system startup.

The causes of the problem of a long system boot can be divided into two types - hardware and software. In the first case, problems with the hardware of the laptop can affect the system boot, and in the second case, the software is to blame.

Below we will consider the main reasons that may affect the occurrence of the problem we are considering.

Reason 1: Crowded startup

First of all, if the computer enters Windows normally, but it is possible to start using it only after some time, then it is necessary to clean Windows startup, removing all unnecessary programs from it.

To do this, open the window "Task Manager" keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+Esc. In the window that opens, go to the tab. Leave only the most necessary programs in autorun, it is highly recommended to disable others.

Reason 2: viral activity

A Trojan can easily cause a computer to turn on for a long time.

To exclude or confirm this possibility of a cause, run the system analysis process on your antivirus for the presence of any types of threats. In addition, after using antivirus scanning, you can separately use the Dr.Web CureIt curing utility, which is available for download completely free of charge, does not require installation on a computer, and does not conflict with antivirus programs from other manufacturers.

Reason 3: conflicts in the system

A similar type of problem may occur, for example, after installing drivers for a device that do not fit or “stand up” incorrectly. In any case, in order not to be engaged in determining what could have gone wrong, it is worth trying to perform a system restore procedure by rolling back the laptop to the moment when it booted normally.

To do this, call the menu "Control Panel", and then navigate to the section "Recovery".

In the window that appears, make a choice in favor of the item "Starting System Restore". After a couple of moments, the available rollback points will be displayed on the screen, among which you will need to decide and select the one when the computer was working normally.

Please note that the System Restore feature will restore the entire operation of the computer. Only user files, which include music, movies, various document formats, and so on, will not be affected.

Reason 4: The presence of errors in the system

Next, you can try to fix the problem by checking the disk for errors. To do this, open windows explorer on the menu "This computer" and right-click on the drive on which Windows is installed, and in the context menu that appears, select "Properties".

In the new window, go to the tab "Service" and in block "Checking for Errors" click the button "Check".

After starting the disk check, wait for the process to complete. If errors are found, the system will automatically fix them.

Reason 5: Battery problems

We smoothly move from software causes of the problem to hardware ones. First of all, spend enough simple procedure: Turn off the laptop, disconnect the battery from it, connect the power and start it up. If the computer starts normally after following these steps, then the problem is with the battery, which looks like it needs to be replaced.

Reason 6: Hard drive malfunction

If the laptop has been disassembled before, then it is worth checking the connection of the hard drive: it is quite possible that the connector could have come off, due to which it cannot work correctly.

To check the performance of the hard drive, try connecting another HDD to the laptop and check its performance. As in the previous case, if you confirm that the problem is indeed with the hard drive, most likely it will need to be replaced.

And finally. If you rule out the possibility of failure of any component of your laptop, you should try reinstalling the operating system with a full disk format. This step is guaranteed to eliminate the system from possible software problems, returning your laptop to its former speed.

Each device tends to fail over time or reduce performance. However, this does not mean that the equipment is no longer usable. In most cases, you can identify the source of the problem and eliminate it. Therefore, in the written article, we will talk about possible malfunctions.

Laptop takes a long time to load and slow down

IN modern world this technique is in high demand. And when this or that problem arises, it is desirable to resolve the issue of its elimination immediately. So, possible causes there may be several. Dust often accumulates, viruses appear in the system, automatic boot overflows, hard disk fragmentation increases, and so on. Below we will try to analyze the most common defects.

Why is my laptop loading slowly and what should I do?

All reasons can be divided into two large categories: hardware, which are associated with hardware and software. Accordingly, the last ones represent negative aspects in the software.

If you notice that the bottom surface of the case starts to get very hot, and the noise from the fan increases, then this case is difficult. The fact is that when a critical temperature point is reached, the system automatically works, which is responsible for protection against overheating. Therefore, at the same time, it is necessary to disconnect the equipment from the power supply, then disassemble it and clean it from small particles and dust.

Virus attack

Indeed, there is a certain type of virus that can long time do not show itself, but slow down the performance of the laptop. In this case, it is recommended to pay attention to anti-virus programs. To run it, follow these steps:

  • To get started, open the main window and go to the "scanning hard drives" section.
  • Now you can select "deep scan" and click on the devices you want to check.
  • In the process, the platform will automatically detect files that are in doubt. Depending on your desire, you can delete it, skip it, clean it up and move it to quarantine.

Attention! If the above manipulations did not help, then you will have to eliminate the file yourself.

It makes sense to periodically clean the windows boot, thereby removing unnecessary programs. To do this, you will directly need the combination: "Ctrl + Shift + Esc". After that, a tab should open, in it you need to click on "startup". It is also worth leaving only those that are important to you.

Not enough space on the system drive

The information that is in it can be fragmented over time. That is, some sections should be ordered and sorted. But first it makes sense to check by following the steps below:

  • First you need to go to "my computer". Then right-click on the disk, and then on the "properties" line.
  • Then open the "service" tab and point to "optimize".
  • In the tab that will be available, you will see a list of media. Accordingly, you have to click on "analyze". As a result, the result will be issued. If the percentage is greater than 10, then defragmentation should be performed. This will be discussed at the end of the article.

Cluttered registry

Slow loading provokes a large number of available programs. Specialized utilities will help with the solution. For example, it is advisable to download WinHacker 95. It is able to change icons and eliminate utility folders. And Registry Search, in turn, can change the parameters in the registry, while the work will be carried out both from a local PC and from a remote one.

Not enough RAM

Of course, after a certain period of time, the memory is saturated to the point of impossibility, which causes problems. There is a pattern: the more programs installed and running at the same time, the more likely the formation of problems and failures. Therefore, it is recommended that you regularly use resources that comprehensively maintain the registry. The most reliable category includes Reg Organizer. It is he who compresses and cleans the OS. In addition, with its help it is possible to reproduce a complete removal of the software.

Checking and defragmenting the disk

This utility checks the properties, finds out if there are errors in the system or not. Also, if there are bad areas, then she will be able to restore or fix them.

  • You should first go to the "service" through the properties and perform a check.
  • To carry out the main process, a specialized program is required. To do this, open "start" and type "disk defragmenter".
  • After that, in the "current state" tab, it is important to select the required component.
  • In conclusion, it remains to click on "defragment" and wait for a while.

Reference! It may be that you need to enter a password and confirm. To achieve the result, it is still worth agreeing and providing the code. So, periodically it is necessary to carry out the described plan.

It is better to avoid this procedure in relation to SSD and various cards memory.
