In this article, we will tell you which of the many existing options for Android is best to download for Xiaomi Mi Band 2 and why it is.

Classic Apps

Official app Mi Fit. It is downloaded from the Play Market for Android and has the most basic functionality you need: incoming call and SMS alerts, alarm clock, pedometer, heart rate monitor and more.

This version of the program is a modification Mi Fit and has some features, such as: improved translation of the interface that calls, the ability to save the program on the phone's SD card, an increase in the number of programs for notifications (up to 50), a message about the loss of connection between the bracelet and the phone, and much more.

Mi Fit from MIUI Russia. This is also a modified assembly with its own features. There is an adapted Russian and Ukrainian translation, the inclusion of information about the caller on the bracelet, as well as the function of a Russian-language voice assistant. In addition, the exact work of maps from Google is implemented here, there are additional fonts and icons for alerts. Unnecessary services from a Chinese developer are disabled in this version of the program, and the number of notifications from applications has been increased to 20. And this is only a part of the program's features and capabilities.

Mi Band 2 MC. A special program for controlling an audio player using a bracelet. Install and open the program. Next, click on the music play button at the bottom right and make sure that the bracelet is connected to the smartphone. Now you can control the music directly from the bracelet without taking out the phone: 1, 2 or 3 clicks immediately send an instruction to the phone to play music files.

Notify & Fitness for Mi Band

We recommend downloading this program in addition to the official Mi Band application, although you can use it separately. In general, this application was created for the 1st version of the fitness bracelet Mi Band, but with the second version it is also often used. There is an old free version and a new paid version of the app. It is mainly installed for regular heart rate monitoring and using the smart alarm function. Otherwise, Notify & Fitness for Mi Band is not very convenient.

To enable heart rate monitoring, do the following:

  • Run the application (for the first time a window will pop up, press "OK");
  • In the settings, allow access to notifications;
  • Return to the main window and go to the tab "Pulse";
  • Choose the interval to be used for measurements yourself;
  • After some time, you can enter the program and see the statistics of heart rate measurements.

A smart alarm clock on a bracelet in this program works even without regular synchronization of the tracker and phone, and it turns on in this way:

  • We go into the application and open the section "Miscellaneous";
  • Turn on the smart alarm function and set the interval for its work;
  • Put a tick in the box "Early Bird Notify" and adjust the vibration.

Outcome

Today we got acquainted with the most popular applications for managing a fitness bracelet. If you downloaded some other interesting programs that are worthy of attention, tell us about them in the comments.

Along with the fashion for a healthy lifestyle, gadgets that help monitor health have become popular. Among such electronics, fitness trackers are in the greatest demand. Xiaomi has released a line of "smart" bracelets that everyone can afford. All devices of this type are paired with a smartphone.

After purchase, the smart watch should be linked to the phone using the assistant program. In addition to the official application for Xiaomi Mi Band on Android, there are third-party solutions with their own characteristics. Let's take a look at each of the available options.

The easiest and most obvious choice is to download the official fitness bracelet linking app from the Play Market. What can the stock Mi Fit boast of:

  1. Pairing with four different Xiaomi gadgets at once. The supported list includes Amazfit watches, SmartScale scales, several types of smart running shoes and, of course, Mi Band of all generations.
  2. Collection of training statistics. Tracking outdoor runs and treadmill is available, as well as collecting data on cycling and hiking.
  3. Fitness Assistant advises you to run slower or faster, depending on your current heart rate. Based on the information from the smartphone's GPS module, a route is built, the speed and distance traveled, and elevation changes are calculated.
  4. 10 measurement programs are available for Mi Scale scales, including the calculation of the percentage of body fat. Mi Fit at the same time builds a training plan.
  5. Phone notifications, message sender view, silent alarm with vibration.
  6. "Sleep Assistant", which analyzes the depth, duration and ratio of sleep phases based on the heart rate monitor.

There are versions for iOS and are downloaded from the official App Store. There is no official version for Windows Phone. You can download only analogues of Russian developers, for example, Bind Mi Band.
The list of functions of the Chinese utility looks impressive. What forces third-party developers to create their own versions of the application, and why do users install non-standard software? Obviously, people lack the advanced functionality that Mi Fit analogues are ready to provide.

The stock app is notorious for mediocre stability and poor optimization. Synchronization of gadgets takes a lot of time, crashes and errors are not uncommon. Some of the features, such as action labels, are obviously hastily added and do not work properly.

Modified Mi Fit Lolexmod

Modified Mi Fit by lolex from the w3bsit3-dns.com forum. The modification is very popular, contains a lot of minor fixes and nice new features. Lolexmod is recommended for installation instead of the standard Xiaomi utility. Consider how the Lolex variation differs from the regular version:

  • drawn and added notification icons for a lot of new programs;
  • removed irrelevant Chinese services, originally sewn into Mi Fit;
  • removed ads;
  • it became possible to install on an SD card to save memory;
  • in Russian, the name of the contact who calls or sent SMS is displayed;
  • translation fixes for better readability;
  • added Russian TTS-dubbing of training modes;
  • fixes for GPS with Google Maps, fixed the ability to contact the G-Fit account;
  • shortcuts to the desktop for the most popular functions and settings, start the training mode by holding the Home button.

The corrections are minor, but tangible. Usability and comfortable work with a smartphone consist of such simple trifles. Moved lines in the notification or typos in the translation sometimes discourage the desire to use the Mi Band in principle.

Modification from MIUI Russia

It does not radically differ from the previous version, you can safely use any of the two applications. The main fixes are the same - translation fixes, redrawn icons and icons. Improved display of some information, for example, Mi Band 3 shows warm and cold weather. The commentator of the training mode speaks in Russian. There is no version for iPhone.

Another feature that is interesting to a narrow circle of users is the support for flashed trackers. If you replace the bracelet firmware with a non-standard one, then you will not be able to use the official Mi Fit. The mod from the MIUI.su team solves the problem and works correctly.

An add-on that works both in conjunction with the standard Xiaomi program, and independently. The main purpose is to set up notifications on the bracelet, but the range of functions is wide.

  1. Display any text on the Band 2 display.
  2. Saving and analyzing training statistics - calories burned, steps or distance traveled, heart rate and GPS.
  3. Special actions of the smartphone on pressing the button of the bracelet. Function for the second version of the tracker. Touching the key switches music, unlocks the device or rejects an incoming call.
  4. New types of alarms, including "REM" (take a nap). Supports Sleep as Android.
  5. For each contact from the phone book, you can hang a special notification. Unwanted alerts can be completely disabled.
  6. Search for a phone through a bracelet.
  7. Loading firmware into the memory of a fitness watch. Requires caution, there is a risk of spoiling the gadget.
  8. Communication with task managers and support for time tracking programs (Evernote and others).

A premium mode with advanced features is available, you can download it for free from w3bsit3-dns.com.

Synchronization with "smart" scales in partial support mode is available. For the most part, Notify and Fitness is an application for Xiaomi Mi Band 2. The third version and 1S are compatible, but support is partially implemented.

A small shareware application that allows you to control music on your phone. Pressing the touch button of the bracelet switches songs. After the purchase, it becomes possible to bind any other action to the keystroke. For example, take a picture with the main camera of a smart phone.

There are no other options in the feature list. The functionality of Music & Camera Control is duplicated by Notify & Fitness.

Comparison, by reviews and popularity

Surveys of Mi Band owners say that the majority prefer to use Notify and Fitness, as its feature set is the widest. Among those who bought several types of electronics, the modified Mi Fit is more popular. The authorship of the mod does not really matter, the list of fixes is about the same.

Negative comments about the standard Xiaomi application. Among the shortcomings are slow work and a small space for customization. Sharply negative reviews about the Tools & Mi Band program. It is reported that the developer does not fix bugs and refuses to make contact with buyers.

The best choice for those who do not want to understand the intricacies of settings is the Lolex mod or MIUI.su. Advanced tracker owners will find interesting features at Notify & Fitness.

Our detailed instructions will help you set up and connect the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 fitness bracelet, as well as explain how to use it in tandem with the Mi Fit app.

This elegant sports bracelet is designed for sports enthusiasts and beginner fitness athletes. With it, you can track your heart rate, calories burned, distance covered, and sleep quality. All data can be synced with your phone and analyzed on the mobile app, helping you plan your exercise time and intensity.

How to assemble

The assembly is nothing complicated. You need to insert the module into the silicone strap. The company in its instructions recommends doing this from the back of the bracelet. Otherwise, you will stretch the cell, as a result of which the tracker will eventually fall out of it during active hand movements.

How to enable/disable

Turns on Mi Band 2 by pressing a single button on the display. Since the tracker understands gestures, to view the data on the screen, it is enough to raise it. You need to configure this function through the Mi Fit mobile application (see how to connect).

Go to the Profile menu, select from the Mi Band 2 devices, then move the slider to activate in the "Click Efficiency" item. In this case, the item "View information" must be activated.

By default, when unpacking the product, the tracker is already enabled. But if this is not the case, you need to put it on charge. The display will turn on automatically.

There is no way to turn off Mi Band 2. Some users wait until the gadget is completely discharged to turn it off. Remember that the complete discharge of the gadget leads to a subsequent deterioration of its battery. Try to charge it without allowing the discharge to zero.

How to charge

You can charge the bracelet from a computer using the charger that is offered in the kit. To do this, you need to remove the tracker from the bracelet and firmly install it in a special cell on the cable.

HOW TO CONNECT XIAOMI MI BAND 2 TO ANDROID SMARTPHONE OR iPhone

The bracelet itself will not work. It is connected to a PC, tablet, and most often to a smartphone through the Mi Fit application.

If you are a Windows Phone owner, you need to deal with the Bind Mi Band mobile program. But we will talk about a program that is suitable for Android or iOS smartphones.

Android 4.4 or iOS 7 system and newer versions will work fine. There must also be a Bluetooth 4.0 LE module to connect the smartphone to the tracker.

In our instructions, we used the Mi Fit 3.0.1 application.

Download the Mi Fit App

This is the official app for Mi Band 2. Android device users need to launch the Google Play Store and find the app.

iPhone iOS users can get from the Apple store.

Login to your Mi Account

After successfully installing the software, you need to run it. Here you will see a pop-up asking you to access your sports tracker data. Click "Allow" and choose which data you want to allow the program to use in the following interface. You then need to accept the terms of use and privacy policy in order to continue.

Click "Login" and enter your Mi account credentials. If you don't have it, you need to create it.

What is a Mi account and what is it for?

All Xiaomi services are available through a Mi account so that customers can use any Mi service. The user can use this account when logging in to applications that Xiaomi devices work with, as well as to the cloud storage and Mi Cloud, to the MIUI forum, to the store Mi Market to purchase products and goods of this company.

Registration in Mi account

4. Create a password and confirm it. Enter the characters from the picture. Click the Submit button.

Login to the Mi Fit App

After logging in with your Mi account, you need to provide personal information, including Nickname, Date of Birth, Gender, Height, Activity Goals, etc. By doing this, your profile will be installed successfully.

Connecting Mi Fit with a smart bracelet

Upon completion of the above step, the software will prompt you to open Bluetooth on the device and pair with the tracker. So, open the context menu on Android (the top "curtain"), and iOS users need to drag it from the bottom, and turn on the Bluetooth connection.

In the profile interface, you need to click "Add device". Here you will find which Xiaomi products can be connected to the software. Since this is a Mi Band 2, you need to select the "Band" option.

Mi Fit automatically searches for your tracker using a Bluetooth connection. As soon as it is detected, the module will vibrate and you will see an image on the display asking you to press the button. Just press the round button on the device display to complete the pairing process.

Confirm if it is compatible with Android/iOS phone

To check whether the smart bracelet is successfully connected to the mobile device, go to the profile interface and find the Mi Band 2 in the "My Devices" list.

MI FIT APP. SETUP GUIDE

After installing and connecting the Mi Fit software to your phone, you can make the available settings to use the full functionality of the fitness bracelet. Consider the main menu items in the software interface.

At the bottom of the main page are the menu tabs Statistics, Activity and Profile and the first tab is open by default.

Important! The bracelet collects all statistics based on the data of your actions: activity, sleep, load, etc., which it recognizes automatically. There are no settings for the type of pedometer, time and sleep in the tracker. For more accurate indicators, you can manually start some of the physical activities, which will be discussed below.

STATISTICS

Statistics is a large section, where in each of the items you are provided with detailed information in digital form or in graph format for a certain period of your activity.

At the top of the page there is a large circle, the so-called status, in the center of which the number of steps you have taken, as well as the distance and calories burned, is displayed. By clicking on it, you will be taken to a detailed overview of this data: statistics for today and the last 30 days.

The Statistics section itself provides the following information.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that the smart bracelet can distinguish between sleep phases, the company has deprived its users of waking up with a smart alarm clock. It's not in the tracker. But with the help of third-party software it can be installed.

How to measure the pulse on Xiaomi Mi Band 2

There is no automatic heart rate measurement in Mi Band 2. To read the heart rate, you need to call the required menu item with the touch button, and also try to be stationary for more accurate data. The tracker screen will display the number of beats per minute, but the indicators will not be saved. In this case, you need to use the Mi Fit application and the path Statistics -> Pulse -> Measure. Indicators of the number of heart contractions can be memorized.

During running and intense training, you will not be able to measure the pulse. Only in a static position and during sleep by turning on the Sleep Assistant function.

Smartphone camera control

With Mi Band 2, controlling the camera on your smartphone becomes even easier. In order to take a selfie using the gadget button on your hand, you need to use two applications preinstalled on your phone.

The first is through which you need to shoot, and the second is Mi Band 2 Selfie, which allows the wearable device to use its button as a remote control for the camera of a mobile device.

When starting the latter, you need to enter the MAC, then click the "connect" button. In this case, the "disconnect" button should appear: it means that the connection was successful and the smart bracelet will vibrate.

Open Free Camera on your phone and press the button on Mi Band 2.

If the software does not work for some reason, you need to turn Bluetooth off and on again on your phone. Some users get to connect their gadget not the first time. You may have to do this up to 3-4 times.

Mi Band 2 can also switch music on your smartphone's player. This feature is available thanks to the free Mi Band 2 Func Button application from the Google Play store, which you can download to your mobile gadget.

This software will give you access to various additional functions that are activated by pressing once, twice and three times on the button of the bracelet, as well as by turning the brush. And among these additions is music player control, including switching tracks, pausing, selecting and starting music.

As the name of the program suggests, it deals with the many functions associated with pressing a button on a wearable device on your wrist. It has a lot of settings related not only to music, but also to the timer, vibration, reset and acceptance of an incoming call, alarm sound and volume control.

The interface is intuitive, the main thing is to take the time to figure out what's what.

Conclusion

For a fitness band at such a low price, this is a very comprehensive device with the ability to pair with a smartphone to provide more detailed information.

Beautiful, lightweight and comfortable to wear with a huge selection of interchangeable straps in a variety of colors, this bracelet is IP67 dust and water resistant so you don't have to take it off every time you wash your hands or take a shower. And the function of displaying various information on its screen is one of the useful features for users who do not want to miss a single notification from social networks or email, but at the same time do not take their smartphone out of their bag.

We hope that our instructions helped you set up the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 correctly. If you have something to add, write in the comments. Feedback and experience with this inexpensive yet feature-packed device is also welcome.

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is a modern “smart” bracelet that can count steps, calories, distance traveled, as well as record the pulse of its owner. For those who have just bought or are going to buy this gadget, it will be useful to know what it is capable of and how it all works.

What's in the box?

Switching between screens is carried out by pressing the touch key located under the display.

The information on the screen alternates in the following order:

  • current time;
  • the number of steps taken;
  • distance traveled;
  • the number of calories burned;
  • pulse;
  • remaining battery charge.

In order for the information to start showing on the display, you must do the following:

Register Mi account

Install the Mi Fit app

The Mi Fit application allows you to fully interact with the Mi Band 2 smart bracelet. To connect it, you can use not only Android devices, but also Apple products with some restrictions:

  • operating system Android 4.3 or higher with the presence of a Bluetooth 4.0 module;
  • operating system from version iOS 7.0 and a smartphone no older than the iPhone 4S.

For Android smartphones, the application can be downloaded from Google Play, download Mi Fit in Russian or install a modified version, and for iOS you will need to find it in the AppStore app store.

When you launch the program for the first time, you will be required to log in using the previously registered Mi account and enter information about yourself:

  • date of birth;
  • growth;
  • daily goal (desired number of steps taken per day).

This is necessary for more accurate calculations, as the system calculates the distance traveled and calories burned, taking into account the approximate step width.

After entering personal data from the list of selected devices, select “Bracelet”.

Some problems may occur during the connection. In the event that Mi Fit does not see Mi Band 2, try to find a solution in these articles:

If everything went well, using a Bluetooth connection, the smartphone updates the Mi Band 2 firmware and the set system time appears on the tracker display, and the countdown of steps and other parameters also starts.

If desired, the list of displayed information can be changed by going to the fitness bracelet settings.

Xiaomi Mi Fit

Since the Mi Fit application in Russian is installed by default, it will not be difficult to deal with it, but we will still consider the main features of the program.

The application consists of main windows: status, notifications and profile.

In the upper left corner of the “Status” window there is a button that switches devices to running mode.

Thanks to him, you can keep a constant record of your heartbeat while jogging, fix the route, distance, calories burned, step frequency, average pace and other parameters.

Status

The main indicators are displayed, including: sleep information, weight (set automatically or measured using Xiaomi Mi Smart Scale), heart rate, as well as the results of achieving a daily goal. You can go into each of the indicators and study the statistics in more detail.

Sleep statistics allows you to find out how long it lasted and in what periods it was deep or light. The moments of awakening are also fixed. The application allows you to view daily data, as well as weekly and monthly data.

The weight tracking section will be of interest to those who want to lose weight or gain weight. If you do not have a smart scale that can sync with Mi Fit, you will have to periodically enter data manually.

As for the heart rate measurement, the Mi Band 2 heart rate monitor is able to work both in automatic mode (by pressing the touch button, calling the corresponding menu item) and through the Mi Fit application. The difference is that when called through the application, the measurements will go to the database, and by pressing the tracker button, they will simply be displayed on the bracelet display.

Notifications

In the notification section, you can set up events at which the bracelet will vibrate or display informational messages.

Challenges

In this item, you can configure informing about incoming calls and displaying the name of the caller on the bracelet screen.

Alarm

The ability to configure vibration when the alarm goes off.

Each of the alarms can be set to a specific time and a specific period of operation - once, daily or on certain days of the week.

Applications

Vibration of the smartphone when notifications of certain programs.

The list of programs is configured individually.

Inaction

Vibration of Mi Band 2 if the user sits without moving for more than an hour.

There is an opportunity to set the start and end time of the wakeful period. At other times, the bracelet will not bother you with reminders to walk a little.

Messages

Vibration alerts for short text messages.

You can set to display the name or number of the sender.

Do not disturb

Setting the period during which the vibration does not work.

The system itself is able to track that you are sleeping and automatically turn off the vibration.

Communication loss

Vibration notification in case of loss of connection with the smartphone.

When entering the Bluetooth range, the bracelet will automatically connect to the smartphone.

Screen unlock

The ability to unlock the smartphone without the need to enter a password or pattern when the bracelet is close to the mobile device.

Visibility

Allows other devices to see the bracelet.

Synchronization with Google Fit

Synchronization of data with a service from Google, which is designed to collect and store data on the user's physical activity.

Behavior labels

In this section, you can mark the periods of performing various physical exercises.

It is assumed that in this case the device learns itself and adapts to the rhythm of life of its owner.

Profile

This section is for setting goals, finding and adding friends, turning on activity and sleep notifications, as well as finding friends, setting up and operating the bracelet.

Here you can also untie the bracelet from your account or find it if you lost it among the things in the room.

Cautions

  • Fitness tracker Xiaomi Mi Band 2 has IP67 protection, which allows you to use it in the rain or shower. You should not wear a gadget while swimming in a pool, river, and especially in salty sea water.
  • In some cases, there may be a loosening of the stiffness of the strap, which can lead to the loss of the tracker. You can fix this problem by purchasing a new bracelet.
  • It is recommended to charge Mi Band 2 with a charger with a current of no more than 1A. Modern chargers with a current of 2A can damage the gadget.

In one of the previous articles, I was asked - is it possible to control the player on a smartphone using Xiaomi Mi Band for $ 20? I answer: you can.

Now I will tell you how to do it, what are the limitations. And general impressions of the new functionality.

Teaching Mi Band 2 and Amazfit to control music

ATTENTION: the described method is relevant only for owners of smartphones, tablets, computers and portable audio players running Android. Not all of our readers use only Apple operating systems - this material is written for them. Please refrain from toxic behavior. For iPhone users, analogues are not known to me.

To use Xiaomi fitness bracelets as a music player, you will need to install a third-party application.

If you want to avoid installing additional programs, or use the gadget to its fullest with the iPhone, the only way out is to buy Amazfit Pace.

In the latest English-language firmware, the device was able to control the playback of content on a smartphone / tablet.

Install, set up, use. Workable options are:

Mi Band 2 Function Button

Allows you to customize the preset functions on the button of Mi Band 2, supporting single, double, triple tap and rotate brush gesture.

The following functions are available: switch music (Forward/Reverse/Pause/Play), timer (Start/Stop), reset, accept and mute an incoming call, start vibration on the phone, start the alarm sound on the phone, adjust the volume.

A good multifunctional application that suffers from unnecessary add-ons: the implementation of working with a button is such that you have to refuse to work with a button in order to see the pulse.

A similar problem applies to a constantly running service - the Mi Band will have to work according to standard algorithms, or additional functions are required, such as music control using a button.

Mi Band 2 Music Control

The application is specially designed to control music using the Mi Band 2 button, but it works exactly with any other devices that use synchronization via Mi Fit.

An extremely simple application that nevertheless requires Mi Fit pre-installed. It works quickly, does not offer extra functions - everything that is there concerns only the management of players.

Works with any running video and audio players. Unlike colleagues in the shop, it suffers from only one “sore” - some devices require you to start the program manually after a long pause in listening.

Mi Band Master

Designed specifically for Mi Band of any version (including 1 and 3) to expand the standard set of functions.

Completely replaces Mi Fit, offering its own algorithms for calculating steps, processing heart rate, heart rate monitor, sleep analysis. There is a smart alarm clock, settings for displaying information on the screen of a fitness gadget and button press reactions.

He doesn't like the Cyrillic alphabet, requires firmware for a fitness accessory for the smart alarm clock to work, and suffers from many minor childhood illnesses. It does not affect the quality of work, but sometimes you have to install several times.

Coming soon for iOS version.

Mi Bandage

Companion app for Mi Fit and Mi Band 3, 2, HRX and Amazfit Arc, Bip, Cor. Doesn't work with Pace.

Able to set up notifications, interactions using a button (music, calls, launching applications, search assistance, Tasker), alarm clocks, timer / stopwatch. It has its own algorithms for measuring heart rate and processing / outputting data from sensors, including the presentation of interaction logs, heart rate graphs, walking and sleep.

Works only with players that use standard Android commands to control (which can be set as default programs for playing content). This feature has just been released and is being tested.

Personal experience and my choice of application

I chose the simplest application - Mi Band Music Control. It is simpler, works a little more stable and does not contain additional features that are not needed. [to me personally] in my main Amazfit Bip.

The principle of operation of this program is exactly the same as that of others.

  1. You need to go to Mi Fit with a linked accessory and find the MAC address of the device connected via Bluetooth.
  2. Enter the address in the corresponding field of Mi Band Music Control and click Connect.
  3. Make settings to your liking. Done, you can use it.

Switching works at the touch of a button and, accordingly, only works on those Xiaomi fitness gadgets that have it. With accessories from other manufacturers, respectively, the feint will not work.

The main problem of all such programs is frequent disconnects. For rooted devices, it is treated by Bluetooth timeout settings.

There are also certain problems for those using Xiaomi smartphones, as they can block access and set the native Mi Fit application to an overpriority.

P.S.: Why don't you need Mi Band

Unfortunately, before the release of Mi Band Master for iOS, it is impossible to control music on iPhone using Mi Band or other Xiaomi wrist accessory.

The only option is to use the right gadget: either the native Apple Watch or the advanced Amazfit Pace/Pace 2 Stratos smartwatch.

With the first everything is clear. Pace and Straros allow you to control music through their firmware and do not require additional applications - they do not even use a smartphone for this function to work (and in general they work well offline).
