We analyzed their current performance for two years of study at the secondary general education level, including for control and other written work, exam results. Grades were looked at in class journals. We compared the performance in the 10th and 11th grades with the performance in the 7th and 9th grades, studied the protocols of teachers' councils, whose powers include admission of schoolchildren to the SIA.

And here there is just a reason for a certain disappointment. The Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science focuses on the fact that if a graduate is a medalist, then he simply does not have the right to demonstrate low results on the exam. But last year in our region we received a medal 875 graduates and only 30 % got an average of 75 credits (a worthy result for a medalist).

19 students have not scored more than 50 points (in Grayvoronsky, Novooskolsky, Rakityansky, Chernyansky, Borisovsky, Volokonovsky, Valuisky, Alekseevsky districts, Belgorod, Starooskolsky and Gubkinsky districts), which makes you seriously think about the price of the five in the certificate and the significance of the medal.

In the meantime, in some schools, these functions are performed formally. In the shortest possible time, this state of affairs will have to be overcome by joint efforts.

- And yet: what does a school medal give to a graduate?

The USE assignments allow to differentiate graduates according to the level of training. Graduates who received, for example, 40, 50 or 80 points according to the USE results, differ from each other not at all in the number of mistakes, but in the depth of knowledge and possession of methods of activity. This applies doubly to the medalists. Still, the medal gives its owners some advantages. For example, if two applicants have the same number of points, then preference will be given to the one who has a medal.

Many universities have recently begun to establish for medal winners extra points, and considerable - sometimes up to ten. And that already means something. The main thing is that the medal should be awarded to those who deserve it, and not just given out. So that the medalists can withstand the tests of exams and study at universities and that in such an important matter as awarding a medal, there is no patronage and giveaway game.
