Children are always delighted when they manage to make an interesting craft or toy with their own hands, and especially when the basis for such a product becomes a familiar and unremarkable object. Even crafts made from disposable cups for children will be incredibly interesting if you help them see something unusual in each cup.

We offer an interesting option for crafts made from disposable cups -.

Kids will be happy to use it in their games, and older children may find it useful on or off.

To begin work, we will need to make two small holes in the bottom of the cup. We use sharp scissors or a stationery knife for this purpose. You can also take a regular knife with a narrow blade if a stationery knife is not available.

Each hole will need to be slightly widened by turning the blade of a knife or scissors in it.

Next is the most dirty part of the work - we will need to cover the glass with paint. For this purpose we use gouache, acrylic, paint for painting or a can of paint aerosol. To avoid getting your hands dirty, wear rubber household gloves.

When the paint dries, apply a beautiful pattern to it. In our case, these will be stars, which we will draw with a golden marker. You can use the same gouache or acrylic to apply the pattern, as well as various varnishes and decorative nail polishes.

In addition to the pattern, we apply golden dots over the entire surface of the future bell.

We cover the base of the cup with the same golden paint.

We put a bell with a hole on a thick wire. You can buy it at a craft store.

Twist the wire several times.

We thread the ends of the wire into the holes. Do not insert the wire all the way. The bell should hang low enough (it should be slightly visible).

We intertwine them at the top.

And we fasten the ends of the lace or wire to each other so that a loop is formed.

Cover the base of the cup wall and its edge with PVA glue.

And sprinkle generously with decorative glitter.

To prevent glitter from scattering all over the table, sprinkle it over some container. You can pour glitter into a container and dip a glass in it. Shake off the excess.

Plastic cups can be cut, using scissors to give them the desired shape, pasted over with additional elements or glued together.

Specific methods of work depend on the chosen craft, for example, toys are usually made from one glass, decorated with eyes, ears, and flower petals are cut out of a glass and then used as separate parts to create buds.

Options for crafts from cups

From plastic cups you can create figures of any animals: dog, cat, lion, whale, tiger, as well as fairy-tale characters and little men, by gluing additional paper and cardboard parts to them, and using a glass as a base.

You can use it as the entire figure, or make a body from a second cup, cut from the bottom in the shape of paws.

Pencil cup

It will be interesting for kids to make such a craft, decorating it to their taste and using it as a stand for colored pencils, felt-tip pens or crayons.

The glass can be made in the shape of an animal, a snowman, or simply decorated with colorful patterns and pictures.

Draw the eyes, mouth and nose with gouache or acrylic paint, and cut out additional details from pieces of colored paper and cover the glass with them.

Snowman made from plastic cups

The toy will be quite large, so you can decorate your room or place the snowman near the Christmas tree.

Fold the base into a circle from plastic glasses, gluing them with their sides with their bottoms inward. You can also connect them using a stationery stapler.

The next links are placed on top until you get the first ball for the snowman.

To give it a rounded shape, you should reduce the number of cups on the top rows. The next two circles are made even smaller to make them look like a real snowman.

You can decorate the finished toy with a hat, a carrot, and cut out the eyes and mouth from colored paper and stick it on the face.

You can place a garland or LED lights inside the snowman - in this form the snowman will be even more festive and mesmerizing.

Blue whale

Cut the bottom of the plastic cup a few centimeters high, for example in the middle.

Glue a sheet of blue or blue colored paper to the outer surface. Place the workpiece bottom up. It can be sealed with a circle of paper or cardboard. Also cut out the tail and fins from paper or colored cardboard and stick them to the bottom surface of the cup.

Draw or cut out eyes and a large mouth with rectangular teeth. Wrap a piece of wire with blue thread or thin tinsel and roll it into curved streams of water.

Glue them in the whale's head or make a hole at the top and insert the blank in the center.

The result is a toy whale with splashing water splashes.

Octopus

Take a plastic glass and cover it with bright colored paper, for example orange.

From paper of the same color, cut out a circle with 8 stripes around it, in the form of rays.

Glue it to the bottom of the cup and use scissors to round off the ends of the tentacles.

Draw eyes and a nose on the toy or cut them out of paper of other shades.

Frog

A cup covered with green paper will be used as a base.

Cut out large green circles for the eyes from paper. Make smaller circles of white paper around them and glue them inside, these will be the whites of the frog’s eyes.

Draw black pupils in the center and glue the finished eyes onto the cup so that they protrude halfway on top of it.

Draw red lips on the frog and glue on a small crown from yellow cardstock.

To make the paws, place the cup on a sheet of green paper and trace it along the contour, adding a few millimeters. Draw two small paws in front and cut out a circle with the paws.

Glue it to the bottom of the frog. Draw the outlines of the membranes on the frog's legs.

Bunny

For this craft, prepare a colored or white opaque plastic cup.

Cut out the ears from cardboard of the same color, and in the center glue pieces of pink paper slightly smaller than the cardboard parts.

The nose and eyes can be drawn, cut out of paper, or used toy blanks, such as plastic eyes and a pompom nose.

Make antennae out of strings and glue them around the nose.

The head can be decorated with fluffy threads, tinsel, and a small fluffy tail can be glued to the back.

Vase made from a plastic cup

You can create a small vase from one plastic glass or several glued together.

The finished craft is decorated with colored paper, multi-colored paints, plasticine, beads and other decorative elements.

Fairy lights

If you connect several plastic cups on top using a thick thread or rope, you will get a beautiful New Year's garland.

You can make figurines of snowmen, animals, deer and other characters as elements of the garland by covering them with colored paper and drawing facial features on each cup.

Based on the technology of one craft, you can make many other similar products, coming up with your own images and details.

From this point of view, crafts made from plastic cups are very interesting. The material is cheap, bright, and easy to process. It provides a wide field for creative activity. Choose your favorite ways of working and souvenir options. Spend time with your children fun and usefully.

All such products can be divided into two groups:

  1. Made from one cup, maximum 2-3 pieces.
  2. Made from a large number of blanks.

The first type includes the following options:

  • animals;
  • birds;
  • flowers;
  • baskets and buckets;
  • bells.

These are miniature souvenir figurines that are obtained by adding parts made of paper, cardboard, plasticine, plastic, fabric and other materials to the main form.

The second group consists of large crafts made from plastic cups; they can even be called interior decorations. They are made from several dozen and even hundreds of units of plastic containers. The following products are made in this way:

  • Christmas trees;
  • snowmen;
  • balls, including lamps.

The size of each such souvenir can range from 30-40 cm to a meter. Particularly impressive are the “sculptures” of human height.

It is also worth noting that they work with plastic cups in two ways:

  1. By combining existing shapes into a new object.
  2. By obtaining a product by deformation, namely cutting the original container.

As you can see, there are really a lot of opportunities for creativity. You can combine different options and methods, add additional drawings, and add decor. This allows you to get very unusual things.

Materials and tools

To make interesting crafts from plastic cups, you will need the following:

  • the cups themselves (white, transparent, multi-colored);
  • stapler (for connecting elements together);
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • plasticine;
  • colored paper;
  • textile;
  • paints with a brush;
  • other decor (beads, rhinestones, stickers, tinsel, ribbons, bows, decorative tape, napkins with themed patterns).

All materials are readily available, and if you're into crafts and art, chances are you already have the supplies you need.

Fun plastic farm

Small children's crafts made from plastic cups, made in the form of figures of animals, birds or even fairy-tale characters, look very unusual and original. The easiest way to make stylized animals. If the glass has a suitable color (not transparent, but, for example, yellow or white), you can only supplement it with small elements that characterize a particular animal (beak, comb of a cockerel; ears, muzzle, spots of a Dalmatian). If your container is only white or transparent, it is easy to paint it in the desired shade, for example, acrylic paints. A clear varnish is ideal as a final coating, as it secures the paint layer and makes the appearance of the product more attractive.

Flowers and baskets

These items are made using scissors. The sequence of work is as follows:

  1. Cut the cup around the perimeter into strips (1-2 cm wide) or directly into petals.
  2. Twist them with scissors or a rod so that the workpieces acquire a curved shape.
  3. Connect several elements together (a basket and a handle) or place the resulting “flowers” on stems and add leaves.

Products made from colored transparent cups look very impressive, although any others will do. Ready-made souvenirs can be decorated with sparkles, beads, and centers made of beads.

New Year's crafts from plastic cups

For this holiday, beloved by all children, you can create both simple souvenir options and large-sized figures of winter characters, as well as unusual themed decorations for the interior. The following crafts are suitable for the New Year:

  • snowmen;
  • Christmas trees;
  • bells;
  • animal symbols of the coming year.

New Year's crafts made from plastic cups come in small sizes that are easy to put on festive table, hang on the Christmas tree or give as a souvenir, or large floor ones.

Beautiful bells

The easiest way to perform bells, and different execution techniques can be used:

  • decoupage;
  • stained glass;
  • decorative painting;
  • applique.

It is also permissible to combine several methods when making one craft. If the cups are transparent, the pattern on the surface of the product, made from children's art kits, acrylic paints, gels with glitter, or even regular nail polish, looks impressive.

White cups are pasted over with pictures cut out from table napkins with themed designs, covered with varnish, glitter or decorated in any way possible. This is a simplified version of decoupage.

Regardless of the technique used to make the craft, the product can be decorated along the bottom edge with tinsel, a bow with a loop can be placed at the top, from which the bell will be hung, and a “tongue” can be attached inside.

As you can see, crafts made from plastic cups can be very different. Even holiday decorations and gifts can be easily made from this cheap material. Use the ideas presented and refine them. Create with your children and have fun.
