Change the appearance of characters with Face Ripper and Fo4edit.
Many, including myself, do not like the appearance of some Fallout4 characters, it is for this reason that a huge number of replayer mods have appeared on the Internet that change either one or two NPCs (most often companions), or the entire population of the Commonwealth.
Below I will try to explain in an accessible form how to make such a mod on my own.

As an example, let's try to change the appearance of Piper, this lady, probably, more often than others becomes the object of cosmetic restyling.

In order to do this, we need to download and install two programs. Firstly, .

The preparation is over, you can begin to solve the main problem. Run Fo4edit, right-click in the Master/Plugin Selected window and select Select none from the drop-down menu, this operation will remove the "daws" from all files. We mark the Fallout4.esm file with a "daw" and press the OK button. When the download is completed, open this Fallout4.esm by double-clicking LMB and find the category Non-Player Character (Actor) in the list and open it too. In the Name column, click on the heading to sort the characters and creatures in alphabetical order, after which it will be quite easy for us to find Piper. There she is:

Right-click on Piper and select Copy as override into... from the drop-down menu. The program will ask if we really want to change something, we answer in the affirmative. After that, a window will appear where we will be asked to copy the entry from Piper to a new esp file (you need to check the box there), and in the next window, enter the name of the new file. I named it a1PiperRestyle:

Fo4edit will tell us that Fallout4.esm will be the parent master file for our esp, agree with this and close the program.

Now we need to create Piper's new appearance. To do this, we can either use the save already made by someone, on the Nexus website there is a fairly large selection of such files:
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/searchresults/?src_cat=32
or run the game and type slm player in the console, thus opening the character editor. We press the "B" key, and then "Escape" to be able to edit the face of our character, after which we create a new appearance for him, let's say this:

Save the game and exit it.

Now we need to port the character's appearance from the save to our esp file. Launch the Face Ripper program, press the Browse button next to the top window. A folder with saves will open, where we need to select the one we just made. After that, we press the Browse button next to the bottom window and look for our a1piperRestyle.esp in the Data folder (now there is only one entry in it, so there will be no problems finding the right character, but if we want to change the appearance of several NPCs, we will need to know their FormID, this information can be obtained by opening Fo4edit). Press the Transfer Face button, and then, when the Done message box appears, press OK

The deed is done, but there is one caveat: Face Ripper does not port the appearance to our esp, it creates a copy of it with a changed name, here it is, located in the Data folder:

We rename this copy to a1newPiper.esp, mark it with a "daw" in NMM and run the game to look at the result of our labors. That's what I did:

Using the method described above, you can change the appearance of any character in the game, using not only saves, but also esp files as an "appearance donor" if they contain NPCs whose appearance you like, and using Fo4edit you can also change the gender and race. If you are interested in how to do this, ask, I will try to answer.

Create a label Fo4edit.lnk and add -cp:utf-8 -l:ru in its properties with a space.

This mod adds over 1000 customizable settlers to Fallout 4. Of course, they already have their own appearance (a total of 56 options - 28 female and 28 male), but you yourself can completely change it through the console.

* If you are not satisfied with the appearance of the settler, or you want to change his hairstyle, then you can edit it through the console - slm 1 (verified)
* Not satisfied with the voice, no problem. Click on the settler and enter - acf "ObjectReference.SetOverrideVoiceType".
* The list of voice IDs is in the archive, there is also a batch file for voices (sound).
* Just replace XXXX in the batch file with the ID of the desired voice and in the game enter in the console - bat sound
* The height, muscles and weight of the settlers are now random (parameters are generated for each settler).

One of the advantages of this mod is that it is compatible with all mods for changing appearance, cells, etc. It doesn't change anything.

How to use:
If you have installed this mod for the first time, then a holodisk will be automatically added to you - "Mobile teleport of settlers".
If you already had it, then you will have to make this disk yourself on Khim. workbench.
We put a holodisk and select the settler you need (We look at the screenshots - each appearance has its own number)
After that, it is necessary to settle it in a particular settlement through the workshop menu.

Just in case, I added ghouls (80 pieces) to the mod, in order to add a hairstyle to them, at the beginning they must be turned into a person.
We call Ghoul through the console, move the cursor over it and click on it. Then we enter - setrace human, then we enter slm 1 and set the desired hairstyle for him.
After all the manipulations, we turn him back into a ghoul - setrace ghoul
I didn’t bother with the ghouls myself - I took the info from the forum.

Recommended mods:
Stylize Your Followers - change companions appearances at the press of a button
The name is long, but the mod is useful, it should be used in conjunction with the mod.
We put on the ring, make a temporary companion out of the settler and change his appearance, then send him home (does not work with ghouls - first the ghoul must be turned into a person, see above).
- names can only be given in manual renaming mode

Important:
Teleport settlers carefully - you can accidentally teleport a settler to you who is already busy with some kind of work.
If this happened - it’s not scary, he himself stomps back to the place of residence (nice bug - one of me drags trash into the settlement in this way)

Installation:
If you had the previous version of the mod - just replace the files (the appearance of the edited settlers will not suffer - in any case, I'm fine).
We take the files in the archive and throw them into the Data folder in the game, activate it in any way convenient for you - in the mod manager or in the Plugins.txt file, whichever is more convenient for you.
How to install mods read in

A new addition for , called Vault-Tec Workshop, added to the game, in addition to new items for arranging settlements, unique workstations. They will allow Hero to change their face and hairstyle absolutely free. And all that is required is to assign settlers to work and something else.

Please note that all items of the new addition can also be used on the surface in the Wasteland in any settlement, so it is not necessary to install workstations in Vault 88. You can, for example, go to the Sanctuary Hills and open there hairdressing and surgical.

In addition, now you don’t have to constantly run to Diamond City to change your appearance, and besides this city, there is no other way to change in the game. But the opportunity came with the release of the add-on Vault-Tec Workshop. And even a bonus will be issued.

Own hairdresser and surgeon in Fallout 4 Vault-Tec Workshop

New stations can be found in the workshop menu:

  • Resources -> Miscellaneous -> Operation Chair
  • Resources -> Miscellaneous -> Barber Chair

Barber chair additionally increases the happiness of the settlers, but only if a settler is assigned to the job. If you use the barber's chair, then Charisma bonus you will not receive immediately, but only after you select a new hairstyle and confirm it.

For new stations to work, you need to:

  1. Build barber/surgeon chairs
  2. Assign settlers to work.
  3. wait a while when the settler will stand at the station and only then will he take the form of a worker with a tablet in his hands. Make sure that there is plenty of space around the seats and that there is room for settlers to walk and stand freely.
  4. talk with the settlers and choose an option: change your hairstyle or change your appearance.
  5. Sit in a chair and choose a new nose, hairstyle, eyes, tattoos and more.

Important: If you move the station to another location, it is more convenient to reassign the settlers to work. It often happens that they do not return to their places, although at the station itself it is noted that the settler resource has been assigned.

To make sure that the surgeon and hairdresser have started their work, wait about 12 hours . Sleep or sit and wait, or take a walk. Stations are not activated immediately after assignment.

Only the Hero can change the hairstyle and appearance. Settlers are left with default faces and hair styles.
