2019: Cooperation with SKB Kontur on the development of the direction "Fundamental Informatics and Information Technologies"

Under the agreement, the company will involve IT specialists in the development of educational courses and teaching at the university, provide financial support, and participate in the promotion of FIIT among applicants.

Within the framework of the digital economy national project, it is required to train millions of specialists. `Digit` is included in everyday life, and this requires qualified specialists. On the basis of the Ural Federal University, a partnership program of both bachelor's and master's degrees will be implemented. This once again confirms our fruitful cooperation and readiness to reach a higher level both in education and in applied research,

noted Viktor Koksharov

According to Koksharov, UrFU is turning into the largest IT specialist training center outside Moscow and St. Petersburg. If in 2019 the university accepts 900 people for budget places in IT, then in 2020 it is planned to have more than 1,300.

The FIIT program also assumes project-based training - solving problems close to workers, and internships for students with possible subsequent employment in SKB Kontur and other IT companies in Yekaterinburg.

We have been cooperating with the university for over 10 years. We conduct internships, industrial development schools, pay personal scholarships to promising students and grants for teachers, support competitions in sports programming and information security. And now cooperation is reaching a different level. Together, UrFU and SKB Kontur are reforming the direction of Fundamental Informatics and Information Technologies. This will allow us to train world-class developers who are so necessary for the economies of Russia and the Urals,

2018: Plans for opening of the SAP Next-Gen Lab laboratory

On July 9, 2018, SAP, TMK and the Ural Federal University (UrFU, Yekaterinburg) entered into an agreement in which they expressed their intention to open the SAP Next-Gen Lab innovation laboratory at the university. It is planned that student-teaching teams will develop and test solutions for metallurgical companies using advanced technologies: blockchain, industrial Internet of things, augmented reality, machine learning and computer vision. It is assumed that TMK will become the key task manager for laboratory projects.

SAP Next-Gen Lab is planning to work on several groups of promising industrial scenarios. The first direction is the development of projects based on video recognition in order to monitor product quality, product labeling, as well as work on industrial safety and labor protection. The second direction of projects is text recognition and analysis for intelligent reconciliation of accounts and forecasting liquidity. Third, projects based on the industrial Internet of things and augmented reality for creating digital twins and efficient maintenance and repair of equipment.

To work on projects, the laboratory is supposed to be equipped with the necessary technical equipment with the support of SAP. In addition, it is planned to provide access to SAP platform solutions for prototyping using advanced technologies on its basis. The format of student work provides for the holding of project seminars, hackathons, master classes, innodzhems, trainings, as well as access to an extensive library of SAP training materials.

SAP Next-Gen Lab is an initiative of the SAP University Alliance. Innovative laboratories are being created on the basis of universities, in which students work on real projects. The tasks for the teams are set by SAP customers and partners. More than 80 such laboratories have already been opened around the world, 8 of which are at Russian educational sites.

Low level of teachers. In algebra, complex variables are awful. Complex variables cannot be visited - the teacher is mistaken in every letter and number, does not hold attention - it sucks.

I went to a good school, my classmates went to other universities, but I was wrong.

If you want to be bullied by stupid losers, then go to the Physicotechnical Institute. They will not teach you anything, because they themselves do not know anything, but believe me, they will make fun of them in full. a nightmare.

I am a third year student at the Higher School of Economics and Management - I like everything. Teachers explain the studied material well, help write scientific articles that can then be published - this is a valuable practice for students. The timetable for couples is convenient - you can combine it with work or part-time work. Of the minuses - sometimes couples are put in a building at a different address, it is not always convenient - to travel to different places. The dean's office is always ready to help students with any questions. You can take ...

They just took and smashed a dream ... and faith in humanity and hope))
This university has long been my dream. For a long time I could not afford it, because ... it's expensive!
And now - I'm a student! So what? My, as it turned out, a fictional world has developed like a house of cards: shabby old, still Soviet walls ... broken furniture, everything is wretched, an utterly inflated bureaucratic machine, when two employees of one department cannot come to a common opinion ... they recruit so many people into groups, that there are not enough desks and chairs ... where does this money go? Training? no, couples about nothing, boring, stupid .... but, God, how much pathos .. and what particularly struck me was the teachers. Gray people with miserable faces ... is this my dream? what can these unfortunate people teach me? After all, I have something to compare with! This is not my first university! Where were the teachers whom I wanted to be like! Who shone and smiled, radiated kindness and sympathy towards the students, aroused a desire to study ... But I did not appreciate it then, I dreamed of UrFU ... How wrong I was ... -always move? !! Is THIS the best we have ?! Run! Only to run and not waste time and money tells me the mind ... but what about the dream, the heart asks quietly? .... I know the mind will win. always wins. But even a little bit will amuse yourself with a dream ... Yours faithfully, still a student.

At the moment I am studying at this university. Promoted to the marrow of bones, UrFU, in fact, does not represent anything good from itself. The university was created stupidly in order to row grandmothers.
The level of training is the same as in a regular sharag.
Dormitories are given over to foreigners in order to maintain the rating of an international university. Nonresident students stupidly do not get rooms. Studying at 4 and 5 (mostly 5), playing for the team of the faculty and the institute, I have no chance of getting a place in a hostel and have to rent an apartment and plow at work.
If you are an applicant - do not poke your nose into this sharaga!

I would like to start by saying that I study in building No. 1, i.e. in the former USU. USU and UPI are still two different worlds, although they are now united in UrFU. Therefore, I do not presume to judge the UPI. I am writing only about USU.
The building is located in the center of Yekaterinburg - opposite the Opera and Ballet Theater, it is convenient to get there from anywhere in the city. Nearby there are many cafes, canteens, etc. True, all of them during the break (a long break from 13.50 to 14.30 - 40 minutes) are full of students, and it is often difficult to find a place or you need to queue for a long time, but nevertheless.
I am a 2nd year student, on a budgetary form of education.
As for studying at a university:

Pros (regarding only my faculty):
- Very qualified teachers
- Availability of media audiences
- Good renovation (offices, restrooms, main hall)
- Cleanliness at the faculty (they constantly wash the floors and clean them, while this does not bring any inconvenience)
- Availability of many scientific, artistic, etc. publications (library subscription, incredibly comfortable and cozy reading room with many sections and separate zones, equipped with computers with Internet access) (all this is located in the building next to, on Turgenev, 4, you can get there by the passage)
- There are also separate libraries ...
Show in full ...
and: cabinet of history, cabinet of art history, department of rare books, etc.
- Temperature in the building: always warm. We do not wear jackets in winter, but in summer we can ventilate the auditoriums. Comfortable.
- Presence of two guarded wardrobes
- There are no bribes (I think it is worth writing in the pros, because I see that many universities have such a problem). Never paid for a grade, and no one ever demanded it.
- I consider it a HUGE PLUS that for almost 2 years while I am studying here, I have never heard that any of the teachers, methodologists, assistants or other workers did not insult me \u200b\u200bor someone else, but even voices never did not raise! At the faculty, everyone treats each other with respect and warmth, and will always help with advice (for which special thanks to the inspector of the dean's office Ch.A.E., who has just incredible patience, endurance and a big sympathetic heart!)
- I consider the existing mentoring system ANOTHER IMPORTANT PLUS: senior students help freshmen to get comfortable at the university. A freshman who comes from school to university looks, as a rule, frightened, at least, nervous for sure. The mentor helps him in everything: introduces him to the group, explains where the auditoriums are, the restrooms, how to get to the library, how to find a teacher, what to do if he has lost his student and a lot of other things, and most importantly, the freshman sees a person next to him who has already gone through everything this, and therefore, is much less stressful. I had mentors who were very helpful. And this year I myself am a mentor and still support my freshmen.

Minuses:
- The point-rating system, by which we study (this means that all your works and answers will be evaluated by points; the system does not always work properly, but, as a rule, all the shortcomings are solved, and no problems eventually arise, but this takes away nerves and tires.In addition, in such a system the student's motivation is often not knowledge, but getting a high score)
- Dining room: long queues, sometimes you don't have time for a couple because of this. Therefore, most of the students in our stream bring yoghurts, apples, bars, etc. to the university.
- The building where physical education takes place is not in building 1, and not even nearby, but close to the building on the street. Mira (i.e. 6 stops go, almost in a straight line, but you still need to go).

General information: we have had separate physical education since last year, in sections. Those. there is an opportunity to go in for athletics, swimming, fitness, fitness gymnastics (who have health problems) (there are about 30 sections in total, if I am not mistaken). But not always (and even often) you do not get where you would like. But in principle, everyone gets used to it over time.

I can say that on the whole I am very pleased with the university. Our faculty has a Center for Contemporary Culture, where various exhibitions are held (including by the students themselves). It is interesting! And it's very nice to see such an environment around you.

WHAT ABOUT HOSTELS.
I myself do not live in a hostel.
But two of my classmates are not local. They live in a hostel, nobody kicks out. They had to fill out some documents for renewal (I know all this, because the headman), everything was legal.

1) Hostels. As noted earlier, it is almost impossible to get a seat. But for some reason, no one talks about the main fun: a place is given only for a year. That is, even if by hook or by crook you achieve the coveted bed in a shabby hostel, with two showers (one for boys, the other for girls), in which the water does not drain and stands ankle-deep, as well as electronic stoves that work through time - then take the monatas 150 km away, where you come from there, and then come again, sit in a new room, buy again a refrigerator, if your old one is rested, as well as a cabinet, shelves and everything else. I had an attitude "after me, even a deluge", and others too. You can't leave anything in the room, because the commandant will throw everything away. Only foreigners are lucky (read Kazakhs, Dagestanis, Azerbaijanis and everyone else from the CIS).
In general, it is still not clear why foreigners live with Russians. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against them, but a new dorm was built for them. Especially for them! But nobody in this hostel, at least out of 10, was overpowered. And everyone says that there are no places, and foreigners have no right to be evicted.
At the same time, a girl wrote to me and asked to agitate the guys and ...

from my city to enter UrFu. Well, laughter and nothing more. There are no places in the hostel - just write. In my third year, I was forced to rent a house with the status of poor. Thanks a lot.
2) Education at a disgusting level. And yes, it's at the Physicotechnical Institute. Of course, there is no escape here, but neither is knowledge. Many teachers like their position, they just relish the fact that they are so smart and we depend on them. The load is unreasonably huge. I studied at the Lyceum, where the workload was also high. But there I was taught, and here ...
Almost all of my classmates have apathy, fatigue and depression. Most (myself included) want to quit school, because it only consumes time, and does not provide skills and does not provide employment.
In general, save your nerves.

What can I say about this university? One word comes to mind - sharaga.
I am a local and entered here, because the choice of universities in ECB is not great. But this establishment justified my worst fears. Let's get down to business. 1) Teachers. Most of them are women over 55 years old who clearly did not succeed in this life. Few of them have experience in the real sector and know their subject exclusively from books (despite the fact that the faculty is economics). There are even those who make students record lectures under dictation from slides, without bringing anything of their own.
2) Curriculum. It's a bunch of scattered items that go on for half a year. As a result of this approach, students do not delve into any subject. There are often repetitions of what has already passed.
3) Students are motley. There are both graduates of Yekaterinburg gymnasiums and people from the provinces whose education is not of high quality.
4) Session. During the 4 years that I have been studying here, only one person was expelled from our group. Credits and exams are given to everyone, you don't even have to learn anything.

This year, my daughter entered the Ural Federal University in the direction of Oriental and African studies. The passing score for the budget was high this year, my daughter lacked three points for the budget, so I had to go on a paid basis. As you can imagine, the paid basis is always a blow to the parents' wallet. We first found out the amount and were, to put it mildly, surprised: about 130 thousand per year of study. The amount is still not small. But! Many thanks to UrFU for such an innovation: if an applicant lacks 10 or less points, then a discount is provided, and this already pleases parents, since they will have to pay less. In my opinion, this is honest and fair, because the point is three points !!! It's a shame! UrFU, fortunately, has thought of everything in this regard, for which we, as parents, are very grateful! My daughter wanted precisely for this specialty, so we did not consider others where she would go on a budget. It is very important for me that the child himself likes his education, because otherwise the imposition of professions by dads and moms on their children can go sideways. There are so many cases when children drop out of institutions when they don't like it. And we are happy with everything, the university suits us in all respects. And the most important thing is the burning eyes of my daughter! She's interested! And we are calm! We would like to express our tremendous gratitude to the whole university for this!

I entered Urfa on a budget inspired by the fact that on the Internet I read about its prestige and coolness and just wanted to go to the ECB. Only later did I realize what the difference is in prestige or not. The main thing is that valuable knowledge is given and that students have an interest in learning, a desire to go to classes and listen to the teachers. Unfortunately, I did not feel any of this. The disregard for the whole staff .. There are also enough problems in the hostel (either the toilets are leaking, or the stoves in the kitchen are broken) I just spent half a year of my life and decided to enter another university.

Graduated from the Institute of Physics and Technology this year. Four years of training passed like a week. The Institute left many impressions and emotions, and most importantly, knowledge. During training, I often caught myself thinking: why teach all this, if knowledge is not useful anywhere. After completing the internship, I realized that the university provides, firstly, a good base, and secondly, sufficient knowledge to cope with any task. Also, UrFU has a lot of opportunities for personal realization: a lot of creative teams, sports sections and scientific groups. In general, I can say that I will remember UrFU for my whole life, this is the merit of UrFU, the Institute of Physics and Technology, my native department of the FMPK and my favorite group.

This review will not be about studies, because it varies greatly from institute to institute. This review is about social work with students.
First and foremost: the hostel. The university attracts a huge number of freshmen with a sweet promise to "put everyone in the hostel!" But as soon as you finish the first year, you can say goodbye to the hostel and look for a rented apartment. Often times, no one will even give a damn about your income statement. Because mostly freshmen and foreigners are settled (the latter are settled even with hellish academic failure and hellish behavior, because foreigners are a rating), the rest of the places are mostly occupied by so-called activists. In short, if you settle down, but with a creak and not immediately. There are exceptions (a slight dependence on your institute), but a huge part of nonresident students, to put it mildly, remain on the street and beat all possible thresholds in pursuit of a place in a cozy student building.
This topic was raised many times, and it seemed that it was heard, but every time it hesitated, especially violent ones were pacified by handouts in the form of beds from the master's shoulder, but the problem remains and is aggravated every year.
At the same time, it is reliably known that the places occupied according to the documents are actually empty. For whom? And that's another story.

In short, if it is important for you to live in a hostel not only in your first year, choose another university. In terms of education, you will lose little by deleting UrFU from your list.

Good afternoon, I endured for a long time, but today I will share information with you. To begin with, while we were studying, everyone frankly didn't care that there were no desks and chairs on the floors. There is an auditorium for self-preparation, but it is always closed. Just not long ago, more or less renovation and a couple of chairs. But for what lavish banquets, career spring, scientific conferences. Out of 100 students at such a conference, 30% will show really useful and interesting (I'm not sure), but I am sure that this is all window dressing. I had a case in the 3rd year, I came to the GUK to prepare for the exam. I went to the reading room, they didn’t let me in outer clothes, I went to the cloakroom and there they told me today a conference and the rector’s decree not to accept clothes from students. And they tell me to bring the paper that you really go to the reader's room (who will give it to me) if they didn't even let me in. Swearing okay guards normal men understood the situation and helped.

Now, perhaps, about corruption, many teachers put three for a bubble of no tea. The main corrupt official is G ****. The cost of the exam is 10 kopecks. I was told that in the 90s and 2000s. He didn’t even give out to the student 500 rubles free of charge. I also want to say about M ******* when the head. Chairs direct text ...

om says that the university received money from the state for you. Now no one cares about you, is that okay for you? Many teachers do not even want to tell the material, but there was a case when I asked a question on the topic and they called me a fool. What do you see I ask stupid questions. What is it about this please tell me? I came to learn to learn from experience, once asking a stupid question, I will understand how to ask it correctly next time. Not every one of us is able to keep up with the team. But this does not mean that after graduation this student will be a poor specialist. To understand I exaggerate, there is one who understood the subject but was arrogant and did not listen. And the other does not understand, but he is interested and he tries. And who do you think will achieve the result.

I want to quote someone else's review so that the reader himself draws conclusions<<<Добрый день!

Well, perhaps about P ******, this man in pairs only laughed, gave the material without explanation and abbreviations. When he writes something on the board, he does not wait for people to write off. Explaining this by the fact that you should read it in books. Yes, I agree, but how then does this type of education differ from independent learning. Yes, if you come to the course you are interested in and study there for two weeks. You will glean more information than when everyone does not care at all, only grandmothers are needed and so that no one gets them, they spread rot with a bunch of tasks, without explanation. I came to the university not to guess riddles in someone else's head. An example is very simple when a specific task is described in the ticket. And at the time of delivery, additional conditions appear. The same is with the lecturer's abstract. If you gave the task to write an essay on a topic and say to use foreign literature, you must understand that the deadlines are tight and the knowledge of the language is different for everyone. 20 did not go anywhere either, but what killed me the most was that he only accepted information from certain sources. Just think about the student's nerves, whether they call for work or some kind of business trip. You have drawn up an abstract before the session, bring it, and after looking at only one page he says that this is not what he wanted to see. Well, be so kind as to form the task correctly. And then he sent to redo and did not give an explanation. I'm not the only one, this is a story with each group. And so every year.

The second such friend is M *****, but at least on business he demands, probably one of the few honest university teachers. And ***** is also a great guy even wrote his manual so that students understand the material. I put my soul into it. And not as now they just send you to the Internet, go read, and then I'll think about whether you've read. For the university, the student must come first and the attitude must be human.

And the last thing: a hamlo is sitting at the physics department at the State University of Culture, which can simply show you an indecent gesture in your face. She did not want to work and was rude if a woman had any problems in her personal life. Give the person a vacation, if she is just such a person then conduct a conversation. And after I decided to contact the rector, I was sent to master and said such issues should be resolved at the department. That is, if a student is in a difficult situation, no one will ever help him. This woman slandered me and until I turned the conversation into another direction and said that if they did not resolve this issue, I would now go to court. Okay, I'm harmful if a girl of the first year and the village, for example, is naive, honest and modest, gets into such a situation. She will only have to cry into the pillow in the dorm.

P.S. I wanted to enter this university from the age of 6 for many years, I went to this, I tried to do the work myself, I learned the material. And then just such an attitude you are rubbish and others will come to your place. I hope this message will interest the necessary authorities and resolve the issue. Oh yes, the idea with part-time employees is complete nonsense, but perhaps these people are specialists in their field, only the majority of them either do not want to teach or do not know how. They have their own lives, children and dreams, they do not care about full-time students and correspondence students.

Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics

Hello. I completed the first course in mat-fur (as it is customary and customary to call it) in the direction of "Applied Informatics". It doesn't matter in which direction you study, the requirements for everyone are the same. In order not to be expelled, you will have to study, study and study again, enjoying what you are doing, because there is no other way. Be prepared for a huge amount of advanced mathematics, which is not always easy to learn, and programming, which takes a lot of time and sometimes freaks out, but helpful teachers are always ready to help, giving advice and answering your questions. Yes, you will have to plow a lot, and self-education takes a large place, but believe me, it's worth it. At the institute, all doors are open for the realization of their capabilities and self-development: numerous special courses, paid internships, schools of SKB-Kontur and Yandex, with which mat-mech works closely. You might think that the only thing students do here is study. You cannot even imagine how the local people love to have fun and rest. Throughout the year, various events are held, which are solemnly opened by the DPMM (Freshman Day Mat-Fur ...

a), which lasts two months, where various quests, trips to the camp site, etc. await you, followed by the Day of Pathos, after the winter session, the famous ZMSh (Winter Mathematical School) awaits you, where students have been gathering for more than 20 years and graduates of mat-fur of different years, and the main holiday of the institute is DMM (day of mathematicians and mechanics), which lasts a whole month and is rich in various events. In general, as our dean Magaz Orazkimovich says, it is necessary not only to learn, but also to live on mat-fur.

study, it is better to choose another direction. Sometimes the thought came to mind - why? .. But after two years from the moment of graduation, I know the answer for sure: to be an educated person (or at least a little closer to this loud title).

I studied from 2010 to 2014 at the Faculty of Philology of the Ural State University (RGF) (it was even before the merger at UrFU, no one invited us to enter the colorful events). In Yekaterinburg and the entire Urals, USU has a good reputation, absolutely deserved, we had no doubts where to go.

The first two years I studied at a paid department, after I was transferred to a budgetary place for excellent study (unfortunately, they could have been transferred after the first, but this was a year of joining the UPI, and the new rules came into force. It was insulting, but does not detract from reputation of the university).

All teachers of the Faculty of Philology are simply in love with their work. You can always come up after class, ask a question, come for a consultation, no one will ever refuse. It was really interesting. And this is a fundamental education that no one will take away from you (and you will be able to master all additional specializations after such education yourself).

i’m ready to learn, it’s better to choose another direction. Sometimes the thought came to mind - why? .. But after two years from the moment of graduation, I know the answer for sure: to be an educated person (or at least a little closer to this loud title).

As for student events, we simply did not have time for this. But there were internal, faculty, which were released from pairs. They are even better.

There is a possibility of exchange trips to Budapest (so far only for the master's program, but the faculty continues to strengthen cooperation).

Students constantly participate in conferences, competitions for additional scholarships. Within the faculty there are annual competitions for the best literary translations, competitions for reading in a foreign language. Therefore, it was always possible to prove oneself, if there was a desire.

Invited lecturers from Great Britain and other countries came to our faculty, a writer from the USA gave a lecture.

The classrooms are not well equipped with technology, but there are several specialized classrooms with computers and headphones. Such audiences, of course, are not enough for the department of foreign languages, but I hope that the management of the university will pay attention. But the opportunity to present your report on a projector and through speakers was always there.

The canteen in the main building on Lenin Street was always treated with suspicion, but there is a wonderful dining room on Turgenev Street, where not only students come, but also people working nearby.

And yes, the main thing for a philologist is the library! Ural State University has an excellent fund of foreign literature and periodicals. We always took the latest numbers, for example, Time. There are books not only in English, but also in French and German.

I can't say anything about hostels. Previously, the plaster fell on the third floor, but recently entered the alma mater - everything was repaired.

The only thing that always upset was the impossibility of changing courses of the general cycle, such as sociology, economics, political science, in which neither students show interest, nor the teachers have an incentive to tell for an uninterested audience. BUT this is not a question of the university, but of the education system in Russia!

I'll tell you about the Faculty of Chemistry of UrFU (IEN, Faculty of Chemistry) (more precisely, the Ural State University, since it is still felt that the Ural State University and the UPI are different universities and, to be honest, our teachers sometimes do not miss the opportunity to criticize the UPI).
The study is moderately difficult, sometimes they ask a lot, but it is quite possible to cope with the tasks. Teachers (not all, of course, there are unpleasant exceptions) are responsive, if you come up and ask something, they will help and explain. If you like chemistry, it will be interesting, if not, then no :)
So quality education, professional and responsive teachers are here.
Quite a large percentage of droppings, so tune in to study. There are always two retakes, you can agree and retake more, but it is difficult, the dean's office is rather unresponsive to those who study poorly.
Now the building on Kuibyshev is being renovated, but most of the premises have already been repaired, so it is pleasant to study (and warm! Previously there were old windows and it was terribly cold in the classrooms, now there is none).
If this is important for someone - there is a good canteen with normal prices, you can eat normally for 100-150 rubles, you can just eat for 50 rubles.
Of the minuses - you have to go to the fizra in another place (on Mira), as well as a hellish and insane medical unit, which each student will have to visit at least twice to undergo a medical examination.

Urfu has too many negative reviews here.
What can I say.
- Firstly, a lot of money is still pouring in here. Renovation, new equipment, appliances, infrastructure (cool canteens, libraries), and the like. All this really is what makes URFU stand out from hundreds of sharags, which are interrupted by pennies from the very scoop.
- Secondly, some faculties (and departments at them) can really give you a decent education. Cool teachers, worthy scientific work, perspectives, etc. At HTI, this is the Department of Organics, the Physico-Technical Institute is also very good. For the rest I will not say, but the list can be continued a little if desired, and in general, there are much more good (and even amazing) teachers than bad and "none".
In general, the quality of education is at least average, although at some faculties it sags.

There are also problems, in particular with the hostels, which has already been written about here. But most of the problems are problems common to all universities in Russia.

Summing up: the university is not the best, not the top 5 in the Russian Federation, and maybe not even the top 10 (it strongly depends on the faculty you will enter, ChemTech, for example, is definitely top 5), but still the place is pretty good.
And, of course, keep in mind that in the end, what kind of specialist you become depends more than 50% on you, and not on the university, wherever you go.

I am very glad that I chose such an educational institution as Urfa to receive my education: high-quality knowledge, interesting presentation of material, responsive and kind teachers. Separately, I would like to highlight the Institute of the Higher School of Economics and Management: this is a place for creative, original and creative people) students receive here not only all the theoretical knowledge necessary for future professional activities, but also a lot of practical skills (I was especially lucky with practice after the 2nd year - in a large bank). Interactive classes with students are constantly held, where they get acquainted with what they will need to do in real life at their workplace. Regular scientific conferences held by the leadership of the university, as well as departments, exhibitions, trips abroad and within the country, student internship programs are far from all that UrFU students can offer) In general, I am satisfied with this university. She graduated from it in 2018 in the direction of international management. I work for an international company and my employers are satisfied with my knowledge and skills obtained in Urfa.

P.S. If everything is good with foreign languages, then VSEM organizes various exchange programs in other countries, I think that this is very, very cool !!!

I dropped out of UrFU after the first semester, which is why I'm glad. Let's fast forward to another sad reality for a couple of minutes. At UrFU.
It all started with admission. I sent documents from another city, there was not much time left, and it was at that moment that the site stopped working due to the large number of applicants. The problems didn't end there. There is no actual information on the site directly during training. The schedule changed for several months, information about this was posted on the board in the main building.
You did not have time to take a seat in the elongated and narrow audience, which was loaded with more than a hundred people? Look for a bench and write on your knees in the hallway. You can sit on the floor. With such an anomalous length of the room, nothing could be heard in the middle rows. The equipment of the university is not suitable for teaching. As a matter of fact, what can we talk about if the projector transmits the image to a corner under the ceiling so that the pictures and lines of text are bent at any possible angle? It doesn't matter, however, even the most difficult subject, the anatomy of the central nervous system, had to be passed purely formally: they got themselves an album, redrawn the diagrams of the structure of the brain and showed them on the exam. Beauty. Most of all m ...

i was impressed by the teacher in the history of psychology, he also taught general psychology, which was taught by someone else, you get the idea. This man, by the name of B *****, as it turned out, several years ago taught the subject at faculties, which only needed to know that the brain is in the head. Well, at his lectures we heard about the Strugatskys, Tolstoy, hieroglyphs and "warm atoms". I'm not sure that this is the case in our reality. You listen and forget that you came to teach psychology.
The teacher on the obsession-woman, who always suspected us that we offend her, put pressure on pride, trying to convince that only ignoramuses could succumb to Navalny's manipulations. As if this is the main danger to life.
There was another teacher with a focus on business training. In short, she taught us how to study at UrFU. To be honest, in the end I stopped going to pairs with complete confidence that no one would move. And so it happened.
Due to the specifics of the faculty, it was necessary to work in a team a lot. However, the students quickly realized that in this place, under the lying stone, the water flows well, and I did a project that was not preceded by any theoretical basis, alone. The topic of work became the only one that I figured out during my entire study there.
At the seminars, we played, participated in competitions for pouring balls, and so on. It was an invaluable experience and now I can definitely become the host of children's parties.
The dormitories at UrFU are average, as throughout Russia, the stump is clear, the buildings are not the ones whose photos are on the official website (they are for foreigners, as I understood), but ordinary five-story buildings, wooden floors, linoleum in places. If you make repairs, expenses are reimbursed. The floors are clean.

Named after Yeltsin (modern UrFU, former USTU, UPI) is a large educational institution in Russia, located in Yekaterinburg. Today it has about 40 thousand students, 2 thousand teachers. The university has a rich history. It started in 1920. Let's take a closer look at what events the current university has experienced.

At the origins of creation

The need for qualified specialists in the mining business arose in the Urals in the 18th century before the abolition of serfdom in the country. Industry was concentrated in this area. Some of the workers working here included foreigners. To eliminate the shortage of personnel, a mining school was opened in St. Petersburg towards the end of the 18th century. It trained engineers for factories and mines in the Urals. We solved the problem with the specialists, but noticed one drawback - the personnel were trained in isolation from the production practice.

In the 19th century, several mining schools were opened in the Urals, and at the end of the century they began to discuss proposals to open a technical university. Several projects were put forward, but none of them was implemented. At the beginning of the 20th century, the economic crisis negatively affected the mining industry of the Urals. Due to the difficult situation, factories were closed, new construction was stopped.

The economic boom came in 1910. The industry began to recover, the number of proposals to create a technical university in the Urals increased. The event associated with the founding of the educational institution took place in 1920. An educational organization began to function, from which the Ural State Technical University (UPI) was to grow in the future.

Formation of the university in the period from 1920 to 1940

The first years of the educational institution were rather difficult. One of the main problems was financial difficulties. The Soviet government did not have the means to develop higher education. In the 1920s, measures were taken to rationalize the network of educational institutions. As a result, only technical specialties and faculties remained at the university. For this reason, the university was renamed into the Ural Technical Institute in 1925.

In 1930, the educational institution was divided into 10 small highly specialized institutes, close to certain enterprises. This was done in order to improve the training of personnel, but this plan failed. The technical colleges (as these educational institutions were called at that time) had a weak material base. In 1934, some of them were merged into an industrial institute. It became a multidisciplinary educational institution in which there were 7 faculties, 31 specialties.

War years

The future Ural State Technical University (UPI), which was called an industrial institute in the pre-war years, built the main buildings in the 30s and equipped laboratories. At the beginning of the 40s, the institution was already considered one of the largest technical educational organizations in the country, a forge of engineering personnel for Siberia and the Urals. All this was canceled out in an instant by the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War. The university found itself in difficult conditions. At first, the institute created units of general military training, organized courses for the training of nurses and female soldiers.

In the future, the university set a goal for itself - to implement high-quality and accelerated training of specialists who needed the rear, factories involved in the production of ammunition, tanks. The study was difficult:

  • four-shift classes were introduced, which were conducted in poorly heated buildings;
  • the duration of vacations was reduced;
  • abolished correspondence and evening education.

The end of the war and the post-war period

The Ural State Technical University (UPI, Yekaterinburg), which was called an industrial institute, coped with all the tests. In 1945, the Great Patriotic War ended with the victory of the USSR. The news of the defeat of the enemy burst into the educational institution with a burst of joy. This event served as the starting point for a new period in the history of the institution.

In the postwar years, the country began to rise out of ruin. The restoration and construction of enterprises began, the demand for qualified specialists increased. In 1948, the Ural Industrial Institute was renamed into the Polytechnic University named after V.I. Kirov. This event defined the profile of an existing institution. In subsequent years, the university developed, new faculties, departments, specialties were opened.

Entering the list of the leading universities in the country

Around the 60s of the previous century, the Ural Polytechnic Institute became one of the leading higher educational institutions in the country. The number of people willing to study here has increased. Several people applied for the 1st place. Admission to graduate school has also increased. In connection with the changes taking place in life, disciplines and the educational process were improved, technical teaching aids and programmed control began to be introduced.

In 1969, the Ural Polytechnic Institute established a working faculty. Preparatory courses were opened at the institute. Also, correspondence courses, a correspondence physics and mathematics school on a voluntary basis were created. Educational television has also begun to take root. It became one of the main forms of teaching in the first three courses of correspondence and evening studies.

New period in development

An important event that marked the beginning of a new period in the history of the university took place in 1992. The educational institution has changed its status and name. The institute became known as the State Technical University (USTU). Various specialties were opened. There have appeared such as "World Economy", "Technology of Artistic Processing of Materials", "Rational Use of Natural Resources and Protection of the Environment", etc.

Since the change in status, the Ural State Technical University (UPI) has begun a gradual transition to a multi-level education system. This means that some faculties have begun to train bachelors and masters. Several more important events date back to 2008 and 2010. In 2008, the educational organization was named after the first President of the Russian Federation. In 2010, the Ural State Technical University (UPI) named after B. N. Yeltsin merged with the university named after I. A. M. Gorky. As a result, UrFU was formed.

Modern period

UrFU, which currently exists, is one of the best universities in our country. The educational organization occupies high positions in national ratings. A huge number of Russian and foreign students study there. There are about 400 educational programs, and over 7 thousand budget places.

UrFU does not plan to stop at what has been achieved. In the future, he intends to create a scientific, educational and innovation center in the Ural Federal District. The core of all this will be the university. This will allow us to gain leadership in many areas and become one of the leading educational centers in the world.

Specialties at the university

UrFU (former Ural State Technical University, UPI), in accordance with the current certificate of state accreditation, conducts activities in 37 large groups of professions, areas of training for bachelor's degree. Here are some of them:

  • mechanics and mathematics;
  • information and computer science;
  • astronomy and physics;
  • architecture;
  • radio engineering, electronics and communication systems;
  • chemical technology;
  • nanomaterials and nanotechnology;
  • management and economics;
  • psychological sciences, etc.

In conclusion, it should be noted that UrFU (former USTU, UPI) is now a university that the Urals and all of Russia can be proud of. The educational organization has several branches in different Russian cities that implement higher education programs. There is also the Nizhniy Tagil Engineering Technical School in the structure of the university. It trains students under secondary vocational education programs.
