Today we will learn how to make autumn leaves from foamiran. The leaves turned out wonderful: bright, light and very similar to real ones. You will learn how to make such wonderful pins in my detailed master class.

To make leaves we will need foamiran in autumn shades. I took olive, burgundy, coffee, yellow and orange.

Cut out sketches of autumn leaves from paper. To do this, I collected different leaves from the Internet, adjusted them to size (so that they looked beautiful on children and were not huge), printed them and cut them out.

We distribute the sketches: which ones we will make from which foamiran.

Slowly and methodically trace all the leaves with a regular toothpick.

We cut out the blanks with scissors.

We additionally process some leaves with curly scissors.

We cut out complex leaves in layers, i.e. each component separately.

To imitate wind-worn, holey leaves, we will make several holes on our blanks.

The holes should not be even, so an awl will not work. I came up with the idea of making them with a broken toothpick (and the more crookedly it breaks, the better).

You can paint foamiran with anything. I like to do this with oil paint from Winzor&Newton, Winton and Artisan series (fine pigment, applied evenly, Artisan is a water-soluble oil, i.e. can be washed off your hands with plain water).

We will apply the oil with a regular sponge. A construction sponge for windows is very convenient (buy once and use for a lifetime).

We take leaves of a yellow base color.

We emphasize the edges with Indian red, in some places we tint them with green (we make sure to go over the holes to further emphasize them).

Don't forget about the back side (it also needs to be painted).

Option with burgundy, orange and brown.

Here are orange, brown and white.

Brown and burgundy.

And in this leaflet we combine warm shades with green.

Orange and burgundy.

Painted yellow blanks.

To make the edge more frayed. Let's set some parts of the leaves on fire with a lighter.

Be careful, the fom may catch fire, but the flame can be easily extinguished by simply blowing it out.

Similarly, we tint all the cut blanks. It's easy to select colors by looking at photographs of live leaves on the Internet.

We dilute the acrylic paint a little with water. Prepare the spray solution. I used acrylic in two colors - dark purple and green.

Using a toothbrush and your finger, spray the leaves.

Dry and repeat the same on the reverse side.

To make the leaves look like real ones, they need veins. To imitate them, we will need special molds.

Set the iron to maximum and turn off the steam. We take the mold in one hand, and the future sheet in the second. We apply the sheet to the hot surface of the iron aaaand...

...and immediately, without wasting a second, we apply hot foamiran to the mold, trying to align the central vein with the center of the sheet. Press with your fingers.
The mold in the photo is the most popular and most often used when working with foamiran. If you don't have one, be sure to buy it! I recommend!
This mold is called universal, because... with its help you can make not a specific leaf of a specific plant, but a lot of leaves. There are a lot of leaves with such a network of veins and you will definitely need it.

Almost finished birch leaf.

For leaves of this type, we apply each half-petal separately to the iron and print it separately on the mold. This is the only way to create a radial network of veins.

To make leaf cuttings we will need #22 floral wire. For complex leaves, the components of which we cut out separately, we will use thinner wire No. 28.

For each leaf, we separately try on the wire and use wire cutters to cut off the required length. In order for the pin to have a stiffening core, the wire will need to be glued from the very top of the leaf (if we were making leaves in a bouquet or wreath, the wire would not even reach the middle.

Using cyanoacrylate second glue, glue the pieces of wire to the leaves.

To do this, lubricate the wire with a toothpick and press it in the center along the sheet.

If you carefully coat the wire with glue, you can press it with your hands. But often glue appears out of nowhere and instantly glues your fingers together.

Therefore, it is still more convenient to press the wire to the sheet with a clean toothpick.

We bend the tail of the wire into a loop; it will help us imitate a thickening at the tip of the petiole.

Using permanent markers (you can just do this with acrylic) we mask the white paper braid, which stands out very brightly against the background of the colored sheet.

It is convenient to use markers with a brush, rather than regular ones with a rod.

To decorate the wire tails and turn them into almost real cuttings, we will use tape. We cut off a piece of tape, it is too wide for our purpose. To cut a long ribbon lengthwise and in half, roll it in several layers.

Using scissors, cut lengthwise.

To activate the adhesive layer, the tape must be constantly stretched as you work. To make the tip sticky, simply tear off the edge of the tape.

We fix the end of the tape at the base of the sheet.

We carefully wrap the entire wire at an angle, making a thickening on the loop.

We tear off the tape and smooth the tail.

The neat cutting is ready.

To assemble a complex sheet, we glue a thin wire to each one, assemble them together and secure them with tape.

After this, all that remains is to straighten the composite leaves and bend the stalk a little.

In order for the sheet to turn into a pin, we glue such a fastener to each one.

Using a toothpick, coat the back side of the fastener with instant glue and press it against the back side of the sheet, along the wire.

We choose a place in the approximate center of gravity of the jewelry, so that when worn, the brooch does not protrude or sag on any side.

For different leaves we use pins of our appropriate size and preferably color (I did not have the opportunity to choose a color).

We admire the result!
Leaves can be worn on autumn hats and hats (products made from foamiran are not afraid of rain), leaves look wonderful on a coat and on a bag... and from such leaves (without fastenings) you can make a wonderful wreath or eternal bouquet...

Foamiran is a very plastic material, so decorations made from it are airy and weightless. Today I will tell you how to make leaves from foamiran using a template (mold) with your own hands.

We will need the following materials and tools:

  1. Foamiran;
  2. Scissors;
  3. Mold (template) of a leaf;
  4. Toothpick;
  5. Iron.

You will find some of what you need at home or in the nearest store. You can buy many materials for needlework in my store in the materials section.

Watch the video of the master class.

Description and order of work

Using foamiran leaves

And so, get acquainted with a new material for needlework - foamiran. Some have already heard about him, some have already worked with him, and some are seeing him for the first time. You can learn more about this unique material in the article “Plastic suede”.

The leaves will ideally complement any flower or berry arrangement. This could be a flower brooch or a headband with flowers, which can be viewed in my online store.

My jewelry with these leaves

A master class on foamiran leaves will be useful in creating many decorations. For inspiration, I suggest you look at some of my works in which I used this technique. This is not all where you can apply the acquired knowledge. I’m sure you can make very beautiful leaves that can’t be distinguished from real ones.

A peony made from plastic foamiran is a rather lush, beautiful bud that even a novice craftsman can make.

To carry out MK we will need the following types of materials:

  1. Porous foamiran. To make the craft as realistic as possible, purchase material with a thickness of no more than 1 mm. We will need dark green, dark pink and light pink canvas.
  2. Fixation tape, which can be light green or green.
  3. Water-based acrylic paints. To make the artificial flower interesting and as realistic as possible, purchase dark pink, marsh and yellow shades of paint.
  4. Volumetric thick wire that will bend well, with a diameter of 1-1.5 mm. It will be needed to form the stem. For the leaves you need a small piece of floral or thin wire.
  5. A set of art brushes, as well as foam rubber from which you need to make a small sponge (or sponge).
  6. Nail scissors and a standard glue gun. You can use any manicure tool that can easily cut foamiran.
  7. A beautiful mother-of-pearl stone, a voluminous bead or a piece of foil from which the core of the bud will be formed.

We also need a pattern that can be printed or hand drawn. With its help we will form the petals and components of our bud. When everything you need is on the table, you can begin to create a peony step by step.

  1. Cutting the component parts of the flower according to our pattern.
    - A – 10 light pink petals;
    - B – 10 petals of a light pink shade and 5 blanks of a dark pink color;
    - C – 10 parts of a light pink shade;
    - D – 5 dark pink petals;
    - E – 5 dark pink parts;
    - Z – 3 leaves of a dark green hue;
    - M – 6 sheets of dark green color;
    - K and L – 5 dark green sepals;
    - F – a blank in the form of a sun with rays, from which we will form an interesting core with imitation of stamens.

    We cut out a pattern from the existing image, transfer it to light pink foamiran and cut out a circle. After that, cut the rays with sharp ends.

  2. Tinting leaves and petals

    Using acrylic paint, we lightly tint the petals of our peony, trying to get the effect of a non-uniform color (either darker towards the edge of the petal, or darker closer to the base). To do this we need a small brush with which we paint all the petals on both sides.

    The second stage is the creation of “living” leaves. For this we also use the technique of manual tinting. We paint our foamiran leaves on one side only with darker green paint, and then draw the central veins in the center of the trefoil, distributing the paint from the center to the edges of the workpiece.

  3. Corrugation of leaves and petals

    The initial stage will be corrugating the petals B. We fold the workpiece in small folds according to the “accordion” principle.

  4. Flower assembly

    We prepare the base on which many peony petals will be fixed. To do this, we form a tight ball from foil, the diameter of which should not exceed 1.5 cm. If you decide to use a bead, make sure that it has a wide enough hole. We pierce a hole in the foil ball, pour glue into it and immediately thread the prepared wire into the hole.

    We string the workpiece G onto the wire and tie all the upper parts with a thread, placing them above the bead.

    We dip the tips of the stamens in yellow acrylic paint, and then attach 10 petals A to them using a glue gun.

    We fix the petals B, folded like an accordion at the base, so that small folds are obtained. In this way we secure 10 light pink and 5 dark pink petals.

    Next next to each other we glue 5 petals C, and behind them, in a checkerboard pattern, 5 more of the same blanks.

    The pre-final stage will be gluing five petals D in a checkerboard pattern in relation to the previous ones.

    And the creation of the final row of the 5 largest petals of E.

    We fix the sepals and begin to collect leaves as shown in the photo.

    Decorate the hairpin with a lush poppy

    A red foamiran poppy is a great way to decorate any hair accessory or diversify a flower bouquet consisting of wild plants.

    To create it we will need:

    • dense foamiran in black, green and red shades;
    • acrylic paint (red and white);
    • bright pastels and a sponge for tinting;
    • simple threads, a piece of foil, an iron and curly scissors;
    • automatic hairpin without decorations;
    • glue, a manicure stick or wooden toothpick, and phlox powder.

    When all the materials are ready, you can start the master class. To do this, follow the instructions below.

    We draw paper templates by hand in the amount of 8-16 pieces. We need 4 small blanks - 5.5 * 4.5 cm, as well as 4 large ones - 7.5 * 5.5 cm.

    We cut out a strip of black foamiran and process one side to create a fringe.

    We make the base from a ball of foil, the diameter of the workpiece is approximately 1.7-2 cm.

    We tint our petals on one side using a sponge.

    Smooth out sharp corners with curly scissors.

    Lightly touching our petal with a sponge, apply white paint on one side to the bottom of the petal.

    We cut out a circle from green foamiran, put a ball of foil in the middle and begin to form a poppy head. We tie the ball with thread as shown in the photo.

    Cut off the excess thread. We turn the ends over (turn them inside out) and glue them. You can lightly tint the core, first with red and then with white paint.

    We begin assembling the flower by gluing the fringe.

    We form poppy petals by heating the material on an iron set to “silk-wool” mode. We fold the warm pieces like an accordion, twist them and stretch out the middle a little. We do this with all the petals.

    We paint the fringe a little white. We begin to glue the petals overlapping, forming rows. First there are 4 petals in one row.

    Then we glue the large petals below the first row by about 1-2 mm, also slightly overlapping.

    We cut out the leaves and apply texture to them, tinting with paint and shading it with a sponge on both sides.

    Glue the leaves by sprinkling them with phlox powder.

    The flower is ready. Now all we have to do is glue it to the automatic hairpin using a hole punch or glue. You can do your hair!

Content

Today, needlewomen are given another type of creativity - compositions from foamiran (foam). This ornamental raw material is a new invention of the physical and chemical industry and is similar to foam rubber and plastic suede. If you are interested in this material, then study the instructions below on what is made from foamiran.

How to make flowers from foamiran with your own hands

The main area of application of foamiran is floral design. The material is used to make realistic compositions from field daisies, exquisite roses or other flowers. Various souvenirs and crafts are also made from foamiran, such as:

  • magnets;
  • dolls;
  • hair clips in the shape of flowers, butterflies, hearts, etc.;
  • gift packaging.

Thanks to the pliability of this ornamental material, even a novice craftswoman will be able to create something special from it, for example, a bouquet of flowers. Finished products, giant or very small, are distinguished by special realism and accuracy. The whole process of creating such crafts consists of drawing a stencil, followed by cutting out and shaping the petals of one flower. For beginning craftswomen, it is better to print ready-made templates. The list of necessary materials and tools for foamiran crafts includes the following:

  • floral wire;
  • cardboard;
  • iron;
  • glue gun;
  • pencil;
  • scissors;
  • foamiran in blue, yellow, white and other colors that are required in a particular master class;
  • thick needle;
  • foil;
  • satin ribbon;
  • additional decorative elements;
  • acrylic paints;
  • felt-tip pen;
  • toothpick.

Roses from foamiran

In this master class you will be able to create a bouquet of yellow tea roses with delicate green foliage. To do this, follow the following step-by-step instructions:

  1. Take a piece of cardboard or thick paper, draw on it diagrams of 4 petals of different sizes. Set the dimensions of the largest one depending on the size of the bouquet you want to make.
  2. Cut out the petals according to the template, then trace them with a thick needle on foamiran. There should be 10 of the smallest, and 8 of the rest.
  3. Form 5 drop-shaped pieces from foil. Then place them on cut floral wire.
  4. Warm up the iron and apply the petal to it for 2 seconds, then immediately twist it in 2 opposite directions. Next, straighten and gently stretch the center. Do this with all the petals.
  5. Glue the foil blank into the middle of the largest leaf, secure the upper part in the center with a corner. This will be an unopened bud. Using the same method, glue the second element; it should fit tightly to the foil. Next, attach the remaining parts, making them more open.
  6. Form all the remaining roses by completing unopened or already blossomed buds.
  7. Take another sheet of cardboard, draw sepals on it, cut them out, and then transfer them to a sheet of green foamiran. Cut the finished elements along the edges, repeating the fold lines.
  8. Twist the sepals and straighten them like the petals, then string them onto the same wire and glue them to the small buds.
  9. Assemble the bouquet by gluing individual buds, decorate it with leaves, wrap the remaining part of the wire with a green satin ribbon, securing it with glue.

Lily from foamiran

To create a lily, you need a form of white and green flowers. Additionally, you will need stamens, a pestle and a felt-tip pen. The sequence of creating such a craft from foamiran is as follows:

  1. Draw and cut out a lily petal from cardboard. The length of the part should be approximately 6 cm. Make 6 such blanks. Make 3 leaves from green.
  2. On both sides, darken the elements with felt-tip pens.
  3. Heat the parts with an iron, give them a more realistic shape, and use a toothpick to draw veins.
  4. Place a few dots at the base of the leaves with a brown felt-tip pen.
  5. Make pistils and stamens from wire and small pieces of fom, painted black. Collect them into a single composition.
  6. Glue the first row of 3 petals around the stamens. Then in a checkerboard order all the rest. Attach green leaves at the bottom.

Snowdrops from foamiran

It is very easy to make a craft from foamiran in the form of a bouquet of snowdrops. Templates for it are made like this: you need to draw a heart 1.5 cm high and a drop 2 cm high and remove their pointed ends. These will be the stencils for the main parts; all that remains is to cut them out of cardboard. Using an awl, needle or toothpick, trace the blanks onto the shape, making 3 pieces of each element. Further instructions for creating the craft are as follows:

  1. Heat the petals over a candle to give them volume.
  2. From a small rhombus, form 3 stamens, secure them to floral wire, previously cut into pieces.
  3. Color the top edge of the top size petals using pastels or green eye shadow. Glue them around the stamen.
  4. Then decorate the flower with large petals, aligning their edges with the small ones.
  5. Wrap the wire with green tape and secure it with glue.
  6. For the leaves, cut out pieces of arbitrary sizes from green fom, glue several to each flower, and then combine everything into a bouquet.

What can be made from foamiran

Foamiran flowers are used to decorate shoes, bags and clothes. They are also used to decorate the interior with paintings, panels or other interesting elements. Crafts from foamiran will be an interesting activity for any child. It can create appliques, toys, magnets and more. A separate area of using such material is scrapbooking. DIY foamiran hairpins look original. They are especially often used by brides, because ready-made flowers will not wither, unlike live ones.

Foamiran toys

One of the actively developing areas is the production of dolls from Thomas. It has nothing to do with the technology of creating flower arrangements. Judging by the reviews of needlewomen, beginners in this field should order raw materials from a Chinese manufacturer, because their products are denser and brighter. It is better suited for making dolls and other toy crafts.

Foamiran dolls

For one of the simple options for toy crafts, you will need sheets of black, flesh-colored and red color. Additionally, you need the same material, but with some kind of print. Also prepare 3 foam balls with a diameter of 40, 50 and 75 mm. The instructions for making crafts from foamiran sheets are as follows:

  1. Print out the pattern shown in the photo and cut out all the details according to it.
  2. Place the largest ball on the stand, then cover the top with a heated sheet of foam and pull the edges down to about half the ball. Remove the excess, repeat the same with flesh-colored sheets and glue both parts. Make a neat joint.
  3. Fold the body pattern into a cone, insert half of the smaller ball there, and cover it with the panty template.
  4. Cover 2 bamboo sticks with flesh-colored foil.
  5. For the shoes, glue the halves of the medium balls with the remains of the smallest ones, and also decorate them with flesh color. For the sole, glue black sheets of foam to the bottom and then cut along the contour of the shoe.
  6. Place the head on a toothpick, connect it to the body, glue the arms, dress, and attach the legs.
  7. Make a tail for the doll from black fom, add details to the craft, and draw a face.

Christmas tree for New Year

The next master class is also very simple, so even beginners can handle it. He describes the creation of a Christmas tree. The sequence of creating the craft is as follows:

  1. Cut the green foamiran leaf into 2 cm strips.
  2. Make a fringe out of them by making cuts, leaving 3-5 mm to the edge.
  3. Heat all strips with an iron.
  4. Roll the cardboard sheet into a cone, securing it with a stapler.
  5. Cover the craft with green fringe from bottom to top, then decorate the Christmas tree with red beads.

Foamiran jewelry

Floral crafts made from foamiran are used not only as substitutes for fresh flowers. They are also used to decorate hairpins, brooches or headbands. In general, almost any jewelry can be decorated with foamiran - a hair tie, ribbons, comb or crab will look great with this design. Check out some of the tutorials below and try to create one of the jewelry yourself.

Camellia brooch made of foamiran

A stylish and sophisticated accessory is a brooch. You can make it yourself in the form of a camellia flower, for which you will need foamiran in lemon and green shades. You need to take pastels of the same colors. Additionally, it is worth preparing the base for the brooch. The work is as follows:

  1. Draw and cut out patterns of leaves, taking an amount that is 2 times larger than indicated in the photo.
  2. Using a toothpick, transfer everything onto sheets of paper. Next, cut out all the parts.
  3. Tint each leaf with dry yellow pastel.
  4. For the core of the flower, cover a ball of foil with foamiran.
  5. Heat each petal with an iron and give it a realistic shape. Repeat the same with the leaves.
  6. Cover the core with small petals, and arrange the rest in a checkerboard pattern, more freely than the previous ones. Attach the last 2 with the convex part from the center.
  7. Glue the green leaves, then use a heat gun to secure the flower to the brooch base.

Foamiran hair decorations for hairpins or elastic bands

For any elastic band or hairpin, you can easily and quickly make an additional decoration in the form of a small flower. For example, take foamiran in soft purple and white colors, then use the following instructions:

  1. Cut 3 circles from purple sheets, making the diameter of each next one 5 mm smaller.
  2. Cut each element into 6 sectors, slightly short of the center.
  3. Heat the parts with an iron, give them a rounded shape, then glue them together, aligning the sheets in a checkerboard pattern.
  4. Cut out a small piece from white fom, make a fringe on it, glue it in the middle of the flower, and attach a bead on top.

Five minutes of black currant for the winter

Our kindergarten is actively preparing for the autumn holiday, and we, the parents, help it with this.
As a responsible parent, I volunteered to make pins for the children in the shape of autumn leaves so that our group would be the most beautiful at this holiday.
The leaves turned out wonderful: bright, light and very similar to real ones.

The fashion model is my beloved five-year-old son Temochka.
