Today I suggest you make peanut butter at home. This is a very tasty, aromatic and incredibly filling delicacy that can be used as a spread for toast and cookies. Peanut butter is good as a topping for ice cream; it can be added to homemade baked goods or simply eaten with a spoon - as you prefer.

The recipe for this nut butter is simple, because it is based on roasted peanuts - one of the most inexpensive and accessible types of nuts. Many people like peanut butter in its pure, so to speak, form - that is, just peanuts and nothing else. But for our family and for me personally, such a dessert turns out to be too bland, so I always add flavorings - sugar and salt. To obtain a smoother and more uniform consistency, homemade peanut butter also contains refined vegetable oil (it also increases the shelf life of the finished product).

Ingredients:

Cooking the dish step by step with photos:

To make homemade peanut butter, peanuts are a mandatory ingredient, but I highly recommend adding just a little refined vegetable oil, salt and sugar. As a sweetener, you can choose not only sugar, but also honey, molasses, and syrups.

Peanuts for pasta are suitable either raw or already roasted. In addition, you can use salted one - then there is no need to add salt to the pasta. The number of nuts can be absolutely any - I indicated the one I had at the time of preparation. You can roast peanuts in the oven, on the stove or in the microwave (my preference). It is important not to let the nuts burn, or even burn, otherwise the paste will turn out bitter. I microwave the peanuts on the highest setting for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure even cooking. In the oven, the nuts are dried at approximately 200 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

The next step in making homemade peanut butter is to shell the nuts. The thin skin of roasted peanuts can be removed quite quickly and without problems, but the most convenient way to peel a large number of nuts is not individually, but using a regular plastic bag. Let the nuts cool slightly, then transfer them to a bag and tie it.

Next we will need a blender or food processor - it must be powerful, otherwise it will take a long time to make the paste and it is not a fact that your device will not burn! Some cooks even use a coffee grinder, but then you will have to make peanut butter in small portions. We put some peanuts in the bowl, add a little vegetable oil (I used sunflower oil), salt and sugar (in the process you can adjust the taste to your personal preferences).

Let's start grinding the nuts - in the next steps I will show how the consistency of the contents of the bowl changes. First, you get fine nut crumbs.

Gradually, this dry crumb will begin to moisten (oil will be released from the peanuts) and clump together. Remove the lid and use a knife or fork to scrape the mixture off the sides of the bowl so that it returns to the bottom.

After a couple of minutes, the peanuts will turn into a paste. The mixture will heat up and even more oil will be released, making the mixture thinner and even more homogeneous. If your Kitchen Aid gets very hot while chopping (and you can be sure it will), turn it off and let it cool slightly. Then we continue to grind the nuts to the desired consistency.

Who among us, watching American films as a child, did not envy their heroes, who began each breakfast by generously spreading peanut butter on toast? This dish seemed simply unearthly, because it was simply unrealistic to get it in our stores. Today, of course, everything is the other way around - there is pasta for every taste, but you just don’t really want to buy it. The point, of course, is not the price, but the quality, because the composition leaves much to be desired. That’s why we decided to tell you how to make peanut butter yourself, especially since it’s very easy to do. The calorie content of the homemade version will not differ from the purchased one and will range from 550 to 600 kcal.

Recipe 1

Classical. This version of peanut butter will allow you to get as close as possible to the store-bought version at home. The taste will of course be different, because home the deliciousness will be devoid of such an unhealthy chemical component, but this is rather an additional incentive to prepare it yourself.

Ingredients:

  • Peanuts - 0.5 kg;
  • Salt - ½ teaspoon;
  • Honey/syrup - 1-2 tablespoons;
  • Vegetable oil - 2-3 tablespoons.

Cooking method:

  1. Wash raw, unpeeled peanuts thoroughly in cold water and remove excess moisture with a towel. Next we need to fry it. To do this, preheat the oven to 200 degrees, spread the peanuts in an even layer on a baking sheet and place in the oven. Frying will take approximately 10 minutes. We clean the finished browned peanuts. To make the peel come off easily, simply rub it with your palms and select the peeled nuts.
  2. Place the nuts in a blender. The quantity will depend on the volume of your blender bowl, so if the entire portion does not fit into it at once, do not forget to distribute all the other ingredients. Beat the peanuts for 2-3 minutes until crumbs form.
  3. Add salt, honey and 2 out of 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil (preferably peanut oil, but you can replace it with flaxseed, sunflower or any other oil that you can find on the farm).
  4. Beat until smooth. If this effect cannot be achieved, add the remaining oil and beat again.

To this paste you can add cocoa, flax or sesame seeds, cinnamon or vice versa, replace the sweet ingredients with spicy ones (garlic, wassabi and other spices) and get an excellent snack for beer.

Recipe 2

Dietary. Considering the calorie content of peanuts, linking them together with the word “dietary” seems quite arbitrary at first glance. On the contrary, it seems that pasta should be excluded from the diet in the first place. But we'll dig a little deeper. In addition to its calorie content, pasta is also very nutritious, so eating it in large quantities is not so easy (there are exceptions, of course). But the body, exhausting itself with a diet, simply needs to pamper itself with something tasty, and if it is also useful, then we are completely killing two birds with one stone. How does dietary pasta differ from non-dietary pasta? No, no, not just the quantity consumed. See for yourself.

Ingredients:

  • Peanuts - 500 grams;
  • Water - 3-4 tablespoons;
  • Salt - a pinch.

It is better to either avoid honey altogether or use a sweetener instead. You will be surprised, but even without sweetener the pasta will turn out very tasty.

Cooking method:

  1. To make your life easier and speed up the process significantly, let’s take initially peeled and roasted peanuts. And the really lazy ones can immediately buy salty ones.
  2. Place the peanuts in a blender bowl and grind for a couple of minutes until crumbly.
  3. Open the blender, mix, add salt and add about 1-2 tablespoons of water.
  4. After a minute, the other paste will begin to become more uniform and may stick to the sides and bottom of the bowl. Gently mix with a spoon and distribute evenly throughout the bowl. If the mixture does not begin to thicken, add more water.
  5. When you see a consistency that suits you, you can turn off the blender. We transfer it to a container convenient for storage and hide it away, taking it out no more than once a day.

And of course we monitor the quantity. Of course, without sweets and butter, pasta will not be as high in calories, but this does not mean that it can be consumed in unlimited quantities.

Recipe 3

No oil. Everything here is very simple. The most difficult ingredient (you really need a lot of it) is your patience. But let's not reveal all the cards at once.

Ingredients:

  • Peanuts - 1 cup;
  • Salt - a pinch;
  • Patience is unlimited.
  • Optional - 1 tablespoon of honey.

Cooking method:

  1. We will not discuss how to prepare peanuts, since this is covered in detail in previous recipes. Therefore, let's start from the moment when we have roasted peeled peanuts, a salt shaker and a blender on our table. We load our ingredients into it and vzhzhik! It would be possible to stop here, but it would be too simple. After 3 minutes of active whisking, we will see only crumbs. So now it's time for our last ingredient.
  2. Let's be patient. Open the blender and mix the resulting mass so that it does not stick to the walls and bottom of the bowl. And we continue to beat at turbo speed. After another couple of minutes, you will need to stir the rapidly thickening but still heterogeneous mass again. As soon as you feel that the blender is starting to overheat, give it a little rest and then get back to work. In order for the oil to begin to separate from the nuts, they need to be crushed for at least 10 minutes, and our paste will become homogeneous no earlier than after 15-20.
  3. If you are preparing a sweet version, then honey should be added at the stage of formation of nut crumbs.
  4. Place the finished pasta in a tightly sealed container.

The product is stored in the refrigerator or cabinet where it will not be exposed to sunlight. In the first case, the maximum shelf life is 2 months, in the second - half as much. After a while, you may see that the paste has separated, but this does not mean that it is hopelessly spoiled. Quite the contrary - this is an absolutely natural process for a natural product that does not contain artificial thickeners. Just mix everything with a spoon and you can safely eat further!

Like all products, peanut butter offered on the market varies in price and quality. Therefore, before purchasing, you need to carefully study the label - pay attention to the content of palm fat in the paste.

Palm fat is an edible fat obtained from palm oil. This product is now very popular, so many environmental scandals are associated with it, because tropical forests are being massively cut down to produce palm oil in Indonesia and Malaysia. However, palm oil is an essential ingredient in a good peanut butter; without it, it will be uneven and crumbly. If you bought a jar of peanut butter, but didn't find palm fat in the ingredients, don't worry - buy palm oil separately and add it to it.

Peanut butter is native to Africa, but it is most popular in America. In the United States, peanut butter has been a favorite treat for children and adults since the late 19th century. It is traditionally spread on toast and crackers, and eaten for breakfast with pancakes.

However, the scope of application of this product does not end there. We offer you three original recipes with peanut butter.

Quick Satay Sauce

In general, “Satay” (or “sate”) is a popular Malaysian and Indonesian dish, which consists of small kebabs on skewers. This dish is unthinkable without sauce, most often peanut sauce. That is why the latter was also called “Satay”. To make this sweet and spicy sauce you will need:

  • 2 tablespoons “crunchy” peanut butter (the longer the butter is mixed during production, the crunchier it becomes);
  • 2 tablespoons coconut milk;
  • 1 teaspoon chili pepper;
  • vinegar.

Mix the paste and coconut milk, heat the resulting mixture in a small saucepan, add pepper. Then remove from heat, let cool slightly, add salt and wine vinegar. Satay is ready.

Peanut butter icing can be used to coat donuts, cupcakes, and other baked goods. It is prepared very simply:

  • 450 grams peanut butter (“not crunchy”);
  • 200 grams of powdered sugar;
  • 250 grams of butter.

Melt the butter in a frying pan and soften the peanut butter a little in the microwave if it was previously stored in the refrigerator. Combine the paste and butter, and then add powdered sugar to them. Mix everything thoroughly and slowly. If it turns out too thick, you can add a little water. Cover the pastry until the glaze has thickened.

Peanut butter is rich in vitamin B and is an excellent source of energy. If you are short on time and hungry, there is a great option for a hearty and quick snack. Take carrots, celery and an apple, cut them into small pieces, and then eat them dipped in peanut butter. Pleasure guaranteed!
