Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Comprehensive Smartphone Series Comparison

Today we will have a very interesting article, because we will talk about the new series of smartphones from the company - Galaxy A 2019. We will compare seven smartphones, from the budget - Galaxy A10 to the flagship - Galaxy A70.

In fact, only three mobile devices are already available for sale - the Galaxy A10, A30 and A50. Other smartphones - Galaxy A20, A40, A60 and A70 - will be released next month in April 2019.

We decided to compare the technical characteristics of new smartphones and find out the main differences between them.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Specifications

In the table below, you can see the characteristics of all seven smartphones from the Samsung Galaxy A 2019 series.

I want to point out that the Galaxy A60 and A70 have not yet been officially announced, so some specs may be wrong. Anyway, we can get the big picture and find the main differences between these devices.

Let's talk about them in more detail.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Design

Smartphones from the Galaxy A 2019 series have a similar design. They all have a waterdrop notch above the display and plastic casing in different colors: black, white, red and blue.

Budget smartphones like the Galaxy A10, A20, A30, A40 have a dual camera on the back, while the Galaxy A50, A60 and A70 come with a triple camera. In addition, budget models have a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, while more expensive devices have an under-display fingerprint scanner.

All Samsung Galaxy A 2019 series smartphones have dual SIM cards and a dedicated microSD card slot. It's great that even the budget Galaxy A10 smartphone supports memory cards up to 512GB.

Only the Galaxy A10 and A20 have microUSB ports, while the other five smartphones come with the new USB Type-C.

Of course, smartphones come in different sizes because they all offer different screen sizes.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Display

As for the display, only the most budget smartphone - the Galaxy A10 - has an IPS LCD panel. Other devices in the Galaxy A series have received Super AMOLED panels.

You might think the Galaxy A10 has the smallest display, but it doesn't. In fact, the Galaxy A40 has the smallest display size at 5.9 inches. The Galaxy A10 has a 6.2-inch screen, while the Galaxy A70 has a 6.7-inch screen. The rest of the smartphones come with 6.4-inch screens.

In terms of resolution, only the Galaxy A10 and A20 come with HD +, while other smartphones come with Full HD +. I think this is not a surprise. Most budget smartphones have low screen resolutions.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Performance

As we already found out, the Galaxy A10 and Galaxy A20 are the most budget smartphones in the new Samsung series. They are powered by an Exynos 7884 processor. The smartphones achieve around 90,000 AnTuTu scores, which is a pretty good result.

The Galaxy A30 runs on the Exynos 7904, the Galaxy A40 has the Exynos 7885, and the Galaxy A50 comes with the Exynos 9610.

At the moment, we do not know the processors of the Galaxy A60 and A70, because the smartphones have not been officially announced.

In terms of storage, the Galaxy A10 only has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, the Galaxy A20 has 3GB of RAM, while other smartphones come with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. The Galaxy A70 also received a version with 8GB of RAM.

As I said, all devices support microSD cards up to 512GB.

Well, the Galaxy A10 has entry-level hardware and the Galaxy A70 is the most powerful smartphone in the lineup. The Galaxy A50 is a sweet spot because it comes with a 10nm Exynos 9610 processor.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Camera

As you might have guessed, the Galaxy A10 is the cheapest smartphone in the series, so it only has a single camera on the back. This is a 13 megapixel sensor. In front, it has a 5MP camera. In fact, I don't expect high quality photos from this smartphone.

The Galaxy A20 has dual rear cameras with 13MP and 5MP sensors. Front camera 8 MP.

It looks like the Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A40 have the same main cameras - 16 and 5 megapixels. On the other hand, the Galaxy A40 has a 25MP front camera while the A30 only has a 16MP.

The Galaxy A50, A60, and A70 look very impressive with a triple camera setup on the back. They all have similar photomodules with a 25MP main sensor, a second wide-angle lens and a third depth effect sensor. They also offer selfie cameras with 25 megapixels.

As you can imagine, the last three smartphones belong to the flagship category, and they will take high-quality photos. The Galaxy A30 and A40 are mid-range smartphones, but they can still take good pictures.

The Galaxy A20 is a budget smartphone, but it has a dual camera on the back, so portrait mode will be available.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Battery

The Galaxy A40 has the smallest display at 5.9 inches, so it has the smallest battery at just 3100 mAh. The ultra-budget Galaxy A10 smartphone is equipped with a 3400 mAh battery.

Galaxy A20, A30, A50 batteries have a capacity of 4000 mAh, while Galaxy A60 and A70 - 4500 mAh. In addition, the last two smartphones will support 25W fast charging.

Samsung Galaxy A 2019: Price

Finally, let's talk about price. I think you already figured out that the price is going up from the Galaxy A10 to the A70. You can see the approximate smartphone prices below:

  • Galaxy A10: $ 120
  • Galaxy A20: $ 205
  • Samsung Galaxy A30: $ 245
  • Samsung Galaxy A40: $ 260
  • Galaxy A50: $ 290
  • Galaxy A60: $ 405
  • Samsung Galaxy A70: $ 500

Output

So, we compared the specifications of all the Galaxy A 2019 series smartphones. As you can see, the Galaxy A10 is the cheapest smartphone with a 3400mAh battery and a single camera on the back. However, it has a modern design, a waterdrop notch, a large display, and pretty good performance.

If you want a compact smartphone then the Galaxy A40 is worth looking at. It has a 5.9-inch Full HD display, 25MP selfie camera, good performance, but only 3100mAh battery.

The Galaxy A50 is the sweet spot. It has good performance thanks to its 10nm Exynos 9610 processor, large storage, triple rear camera, 25MP front camera and 4000mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy A20, A30, A50 Video Review

The books of genius stand dozens of reprints. This is a rarity among smartphones, but if a series is “republished”, it only means that customers have highly appreciated it.

Samsung Galaxy J 2018 lineup review - read

Samsung has re-released the Galaxy J series. The new devices - from J1 mini to J7 - are budget branded smartphones with decent specs, traditionally flawless workmanship and an emphasized stylish lightweight design. Each of them will find their fans. Why, we will tell below.

Samsung Galaxy J1 mini is an entry-level universal smartphone.

Compact and inexpensive. At the same time, he received a very good "filling". It is based on a 1.2 GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC8830 processor, which is complemented by 750 MB of RAM. And this is the first reason for the low price of a smartphone.

Of course, now the "gold standard" for budget smartphones is 1 GB, but thanks to proprietary optimization technologies, a rare application on the J1 mini will slow down. And, to be honest, this is not the device that is bought for the coolest games like Asphalt 8. However, it runs light toys perfectly, as well as applications for social networks, instant messengers, fitness programs, etc. And the browser works fine.

The built-in memory of the J1 mini is 8 GB, if it seems a little, there is a slot for microSD cards up to 128 GB. There are two SIM card slots: one can be used for cheap internet, the other for inexpensive calls to numbers of all operators.

The main camera has a resolution of 5 megapixels, which is enough for shooting everyday scenes. Matrices in Samsung smartphones are traditionally sensitive, so the camera is ahead of many budget Chinese with 8 megapixels in quality. Front camera resolution - 0.3 MP. It's enough for Skype - cameras of the same resolution are usually installed in laptops.

The second reason for the low price is the screen. Its diagonal is only 4 inches, the resolution is 480x800 pixels, the matrix type is TFT. In general, the ratio of diagonal and resolution is excellent, individual points can be seen only from a distance of several centimeters, but the contrast of the display is lost in bright sun.

The smartphone is powered by a 1500 mAh battery. With such a processor and screen resolution, you don't need more, the charge lasts confidently all day. J1 mini comes preinstalled with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, supports connection to 3G, GPS and GLONASS networks.

Samsung Galaxy J1 is a full-size version of the J1 mini with improved technical characteristics.

A smartphone based on a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor includes 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of permanent memory (a microSD card slot is present). This means that in comparison with the mini-version it will be possible to run more applications at the same time, set higher settings in games. But the shell in both models does not slow down, standard applications run smoothly and do not freeze.

The smartphone screen has a diagonal of 4.5 inches. Close to ideal: for example, recent studies have shown that the most convenient screen diagonal, according to residents from around the world, is 4.7 inches. But the most important thing is that the display here is Super AMOLED: which means that neither the light of a huge chandelier, nor direct sunlight is afraid of it - you can even see the small print.

The smartphone can work on 4G / LTE networks, providing a stable high-speed internet connection. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and GLONASS are also supported.

The resolution of the main camera is the same 5 Mp, the front camera is 2 Mp. Selfies will be significantly better than the mini version!

The battery capacity of the Samsung Galaxy J1 is 2050 mAh - enough for a whole day of use, or for 9 hours of talking or surfing the Internet without interruption.

The thickness of the smartphone is only 8.9 mm! Slim, stylish and very harmonious, it is perfect for those users who do not buy a device for the latest games, but want a sleek workhorse for a reasonable price.

Samsung Galaxy J3 is a functional smartphone in an elegant body with good performance and LTE support.

A 4-core 1.5 GHz processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, a 5-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels - almost everything you need to be happy.

The device has 8 GB of permanent memory, but thanks to the microSD card slot, it can be expanded by another 128 GB. The battery capacity is 2600 mAh: this is up to 11 hours of Internet browsing or video playback. There is a power saving mode that allows you to significantly increase the battery life - very important on vacation!

One of the main differences between the Samsung Galaxy J3 and the J1 is the camera. The resolution of the main one is already quite serious 8 megapixels, the front one is 5 megapixels. You can get impressive photos in any conditions, as well as selfies that will collect hundreds of likes on social networks.

The smartphone supports GPS and GLONASS networks, 4G / LTE, Bluetooth 4.0. It will provide instant loading of applications, launching almost any game and comfortable switching between simultaneously running programs.

Samsung Galaxy J5 - It's super cool: powerful and stylish!

The Samsung Galaxy J5 is powered by the popular 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, which is a proven and economical battery saver. 2 GB of RAM is enough for "heavy" games like dynamic races, and there is no need to talk about the fact that it can simultaneously run several clients for social networks, a messenger and a browser - everything works without "brakes".

The permanent memory of the Samsung Galaxy J5 is 8 GB. If you need more, a microSD card slot up to 128GB is at your service.

The smartphone received a bright 5.2-inch Super AMOLED-screen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. Samsung screens are traditionally considered one of the best: rich colors, maintaining brightness and contrast in any conditions, wide viewing angles, tempered protective glass - that's the secret of success!

The cameras are also decent: the front resolution is 5 megapixels, the main one is 13 megapixels. Selfie quality will not disappoint you!

Of course, Samsung Galaxy J5 supports 4G / LTE networks, connects via Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS and Wi-Fi - everything you need is at your fingertips. The battery capacity of the smartphone is 3100 mAh - up to 13 hours of video or surfing the Internet.

In general, for this smartphone Samsung gets a solid "five" - \u200b\u200ba cool model is relatively inexpensive, while objectively it has no shortcomings.

Samsung Galaxy J7 - The most powerful smartphone in the lineup.

Galaxy J7 received a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED-screen with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels and a design that is very similar to last year's flagship Samsung Galaxy S6. By the way, the body of the Samsung Galaxy J7 is metal, which is a rarity for budget smartphones.

Samsung is one of the few consumer electronics companies that has chosen not to compromise. In the model line of this company there are the most powerful and largest smartphones, which are also recognized as the most stylish. In general, there are probably two main series of devices from the Korean company - the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note. There is a significant difference between them, because the Note line is positioned as full-fledged phablets, and the Galaxy S as productive smartphones. A phablet is essentially a smaller tablet computer that can be conveniently used like a phone. The diagonal of phablets is from 5 to 7 inches, which makes it very comfortable to read news, print text and work with documents. But unfortunately in the electronic world, the criterion "the more, the better" does not always work. Many users are simply uncomfortable holding such a large unit as a phablet in their hand.

The line of devices Galaxy Note to date has already received four generations, exactly the same as the Galaxy S. At the same time smartphones were released to the market in 2010, and phablets a year later. The size of the Galaxy Note has grown over the years from 5.3 to 5.7 inches, while the S series has grown from 4 to 5 inches.

In terms of performance, this is where phablets undoubtedly benefit. For example, the latest Galaxy Note has 3 GB of RAM, which is comparable to a full-fledged PC, while the Galaxy S 4 has 2 GB of RAM. But on the other hand, the smartphone is equipped with an eight-core processor, and a quad-core phablet, which also has an impact on performance.

The camera resolution of the two competing devices was almost always the same. The latest models of phablets and smartphones have a 13MP main camera and a 2MP front camera. At the same time, at the very beginning of the development of devices, the resolution of their cameras was 8 megapixels, which is a lot even today.

All Samsung devices are equipped with Super AMOLED, which provides excellent color reproduction and image clarity. Also, all devices work under the Android operating system, which has already become a tradition. Additionally, the Samsung phablet is always equipped with an original stylus for convenient work with applications.

In terms of battery capacity, the Galaxy Note will undoubtedly have a more powerful battery, but this is only due to the larger display, which requires more resources.

What to choose - a Galaxy S smartphone or a Galaxy Note phablet is just a matter of taste. By and large, the difference is only in size, and the reliability of these two devices is at the same level.

It is the world's most popular smartphone brand, from flagship and super-expensive to more modest and more affordable workhorses. Sometimes, the devices of the middle and lower lines of this manufacturer are so close in parameters that it is difficult to choose one model. And this is where our selection comes to the rescue.

Best Samsung Smartphone

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus

Samsung has flagships and is slightly cheaper - these are the S8 and S8 Plus models, as well as the rather interesting Samsung Galaxy S8 Active model. All Galaxy S phones are dust and water resistant, but the Active is the most rugged.

Honorable Mentions:

Samsung Galaxy Note 8

After a difficult and controversial 2016, the Samsung Galaxy Note line has evened out its positions and even improved them. High-end specs, beautiful design, dual cameras and new software have made the Galaxy Note 8 one of the best Android smartphones around.

The nearly bezel-less 6.3-inch Quad HD + Infinity display with an 18.5: 9 aspect ratio is one of the brightest impressions of this unit. It may seem large, but due to the form factor it fits comfortably in the hand. The new App Pairing function provided in this smartphone allows you to work in multi-window mode with two applications at once, and the S Pen stylus will also delight you with new features.

The dual camera with an additional 12MP sensor and OIS allows you to take clean and sharp photos and portraits with bokeh effect in almost any light.

The disadvantages include only the inconvenient location of the fingerprint scanner and the high price.

Traditionally, a new Galaxy S5 model was released in early 2014. Changes have been made to design, performance and camera. The highlight was the addition of a fingerprint scanner and a heart rate sensor. An additional bonus was the compliance of the smartphone with the IP67 certificate (dust and moisture resistance).

For the first time in the past few years, the company decided to release its flagship only on its Exynos 7420 processor.
