Tyumen State Oil and Gas University (TyumGNGU) (formerly Tyumen Industrial Institute (TII)) - higher educational institution of Tyumen, founded in 1956. Neftegaz is considered [ by whom?] one of the most prestigious technical educational institutions in Russia for oil and gas specialties.
History
The Tyumen State Oil and Gas University traces its pedigree from a training and consulting center opened in Tyumen in 1956, which later became part of the Tyumen Industrial Institute. This happened in 1963, when the rapid development of the wealth of Western Siberia began. In 1963, it was decided to create a specialized university in Tyumen, preparing specialists for the oil and gas complex of Siberia.

Tyumen Industrial Institute was founded in 1963. At first there were only 2 faculties. Today there are 8 of them. There are about 8 thousand students in hospital, evening and correspondence departments. The institute has 48 departments, theoretical courses. 595 professors are doing a lot of research work.
Since 1968, postgraduate studies have been opened at the institute. Students of the institute have the opportunity to study in three spacious rooms of the scientific library, which has 370 thousand books and magazines.
The educational television system operates at the institute, which allows broadcasting within the building of the institute, as well as broadcasting for part-time students.
A large-circulation newspaper “For engineering personnel” is published.

The number of students, taking into account all educational levels existing at the university, is about 39 thousand people. 1.5 thousand citizens from the countries of near and far abroad study at the university. TIU's cooperation with foreign partner universities is developing more and more actively through the mediation and financial support of interested foreign enterprises in the oil and gas sector of the economy. TIU fruitfully cooperates with universities in Germany, France, USA, Cuba, Asia-Pacific countries, and others.
The university has a developed infrastructure of the scientific and educational complex, modern equipment for the development of fundamental and applied research. The structure of the university: 7 institutes, 3 colleges, a general education lyceum, 4 branches located in the south of the Tyumen region, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, 14 research institutes and laboratories, the International Training and Training Center, the Center for Petroleum Geosciences, the Center for Distance Education, Library information center, Campus, comprising 17 dormitories.

TyumGNGU is the only university from the Urals to the Pacific Ocean that trains personnel of all levels across the entire spectrum of specialties strategically important for the country in the oil and gas industry. The number of students that the university prepares for the country's fuel and energy complex exceeds the total number of students enrolled in similar programs in other oil and gas educational institutions in Russia combined. According to expert data, 65-70% of university graduates who are employed in the oil and gas industry in the region are graduates TyumGNGU.
The University provides educational services in 5 specialties, 53 areas of bachelor's degree and 35 areas of master's degree. At TyumGNGU, three areas of specialization have been preserved, recognized as strategically important for Russia. These are: "Ground Vehicles", "Applied Geology" and "Geological Exploration Technologies". The university provides training in 140 professions and specialties of primary and secondary vocational education. To date, there are more than 560 educational programs at all levels of training in TyumSOGU - general secondary, primary, secondary and higher vocational education, postgraduate studies, doctoral studies, advanced training, blue-collar occupations, and additional educational services. The university also implements the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program (focused on training highly professional managers-practitioners who are able to effectively manage an organization in a business environment) and the President's program for training management personnel. The number of students in all forms of training is more than 60 thousand people.
Institutions of higher professional education of TyumSNGU are represented in Tyumen by seven institutions. These are: Technological Institute, Institute of Transport, Institute of Geology and Oil and Gas Production, Institute of Management and Business, Humanitarian Institute, Institute of Cybernetics, Informatics and Communications, Institute of Industrial Technologies and Engineering.
The structure of TyumGNGU has 11 branches located in the cities of the south of the Tyumen region: Zavodoukovsk, Yalutorovsk, Tobolsk; in the KhMAO: in Surgut, Nizhnevartovsk, Nefteyugansk, Kogalym; in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug: Nadym, Novy Urengoy, Noyabrsk, Muravlenko. Large branches of TyumGNGU have the status of institutes: Yamal Oil and Gas, Tobolsk Industrial, Surgut and Noyabrsk Oil and Gas Institutes.
15 departments of the university carry out training according to programs of primary and secondary vocational education in the regional center and in branches in Yalutorovsk, Tobolsk, Zavodoukovsk, Nadym and Surgut. The university has 19 research institutes, centers and laboratories, of which 4 were created jointly with the RAS. In 2009, on the basis of the university, the Center for Distance Education was created, where 17 specialties and 15 areas of higher education and 3 specialties of secondary vocational education are being implemented. A research and production innovation complex (NPIK) - Technopark is successfully operating in TyumGNGU, with the participation of which a number of large projects have been implemented to create electronic equipment and instruments for studying cryolithosphere processes, utilization of drilling waste, and developing energy-saving technologies. In the Technopark of the university, there are multipurpose laboratories, including for joint research with enterprises.
The University Library and Publishing Complex is a methodological center for the unification of libraries of 9 universities of the Tyumen region. The BIC has introduced new technologies for the use of library funds, which make it possible to quickly transform a collection of resources at the user's request into a printed publication or an electronic resource, as well as conduct automated issuance of literature. The library of TyumSNGU has access to the world's educational resources. Improving the quality of education at TyumSOGU is ensured through the implementation of systemic program measures aimed at introducing models of continuous professional education, a rating system for assessing student achievement, a quality management system, experimental activities on a credit-modular system of credits, which provides each student with the opportunity to form an individual educational trajectory - professional , career and personal growth; the introduction of new directions and specialties of training and professions that correspond to state educational standards, adequate to global trends and the needs of the labor market and the individual; implementation of new principles of organizing the systemic educational process on the basis of a competence-based approach using information, communication, activity, social-personal, pedagogical technologies.
When preparing a competitive graduate, the university involves future employers in the learning process and in assessing the quality of education. Students undergo practical training at partner enterprises, prepare graduation theses on materials and problems of a particular production.
The Alumni Association is successfully working in TyumGNGU. In July 2010, the Association was headed by the ex-governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, and now a member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Yuri Neelov.
As part of the modernization of higher education, the university is developing the cryological direction as a priority in scientific and educational activities. This approach has no analogues in the system of domestic higher professional education.
Modern material and technical base, including teaching and laboratory areas, telecommunication infrastructure, providing high-speed access for students and teachers to corporate, regional and global information resources, unique training centers, virtual laboratory complexes that simulate technological processes of oil and gas production and much more allows training sessions at a high level. Such services are provided to future specialists by the Institute of Further Education. The Center trains specialists and managers of the highest qualifications in accordance with national and international standards of business education, professional retraining, advanced training of specialists in a wide range of educational programs, management consulting for enterprises in the real sector of the economy, state and municipal authorities.
One of the largest centers of postgraduate education in Western Siberia is the Institute for Advanced Studies and Retraining of Personnel of TyumSOGU. The main activities of the institute are advanced training, professional retraining, pre-certification training and certification in the field of industrial safety of employees of organizations operating hazardous production facilities, training under a unified program of arbitration managers, short-term seminars, training and testing of knowledge on labor protection, pre-certification training in welding production , intensive training in foreign languages; training of management personnel for organizations of the national economy of the Russian Federation.
The institute has established strong partnerships with such large oil, gas and service companies as LLC LUKOIL - Western Siberia, LLC GazpromtransgazSurgut, OJSC Sibnefteprovod, LLC Gazpromdobycha Yamburg, OJSC Rosneft-Yuganskneftegaz, LLC Tyumenregiongaz and etc.
The number of students, taking into account all educational levels existing at the university, is more than 60 thousand people. The university has trained over 125 thousand specialists. Among the alumni are well-known politicians, ministers, governors, heads of the largest oil and gas companies in Russia.
TSOGU has a powerful scientific potential, which has been developing over several decades. Today, the scientific corps of TyumGNGU includes 225 doctors of sciences, professor, 787 candidates of sciences, associate professors. Among them there are 3 Academicians, 4 Corresponding Members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and more than 100 Full Members and Corresponding Members of the Academies of Sciences, Lenin Prize Laureate, 3 State Prize Laureates, 7 Honored Scientists and Technicians of the Russian Federation.
The previous generation of scientists is being replaced by their young talented students, who continue the work of their mentors with dignity. More than 600 graduate students and 200 applicants for the degree of candidate and doctor of sciences study at the university. The university has created all the conditions for the scientific activities of students, graduate students, doctoral students. The priority area in cooperation between the university and enterprises is the conclusion of long-term comprehensive contracts providing for the training of specialists with higher education, advanced training of employees of enterprises, holding company days, organizing student internships, and employing graduates. Partner enterprises provide great assistance to the university in updating and modernizing the educational and production base - this is the creation of laboratories equipped with the latest technology, classrooms, computer classes, training centers.
Thus, with the financial support of Transneft, in 2003, students and teachers of TyumGNGU received at their disposal a modern library and information center with a book fund of more than 1 million copies, a unique electronic catalog and excellent reading rooms. In 2006, the Lukoil-Western Siberia company reconstructed and equipped with modern multimedia equipment the assembly hall at the Institute of Geology and Oil and Gas Production of TyumGNGU. In the same year, Lukoil-West Siberia reconstructed a training and production complex, including a drilling rig (well depth 700 meters), a set of equipment for oil and gas production, mobile homes of the Kedr type and also auxiliary equipment. Here students and apprentices of blue-collar specialties practice their practical skills.
Another unique subarctic test site is located near the Medvezhye and Yubileinoe fields (NadymGazprom LLC). It is the only place in Russia where students of not only an oil and gas university, but also Moscow and foreign universities undergo geocryological practice.
In recent years, such transnational corporations as Schlumberger, TNK-BP, Halliburton, Deutag Drilling, Repsol and others have expanded the scale of their work with TyumGNGU.
The Halliburton Company, together with TyumGNGU and on its basis, has created and operates a training center, where retraining and advanced training of specialists is carried out for the company's branches located around the world.
The effective implementation of new program activities, models and content of lifelong education increase the academic mobility of students, graduates and teachers of Tyumen State University of Oil and Gas in the system of international lifelong education.
Currently, about 1.5 thousand citizens from neighboring countries (Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia, Tajikistan, Georgia, Turkmenistan) and distant (Great Britain, USA, Canada, Germany, China, France ) abroad.
The cooperation of TyumSOGU with foreign partner universities is developing more and more actively through the mediation and financial support of interested foreign enterprises of the oil and gas sector of the economy. These are the programs of "inclusive education" of the Institute of Geology and Oil and Gas Production of Tyum State Oil and Gas University and the Institute of Oil and Gas Engineering of the Technical University of Clausthal (Germany), and the Institute of Geology and Oil and Gas Production of the Tyumen State Oil and Gas University and the Institute of the Higher School of Mining of the University of Madrid (Spain).
