Today I ordered a polyester cord for knitting the "Magnificent" carpet, found the patterns and description of this carpet, plus downloaded the video. In short, a little more and I will also have a great carpet 🙂

Magnificent "Legend"

By the way, do you know who the author of the “Magnificent” carpet is and why it has such a name? I can't say with 100% certainty, but it seems to me that this was the case.

Once, one of our craftswomen (and for some reason I am sure that the idea to knit a carpet from a cord using a knitted napkin pattern belongs to our needlewomen) saw books by Patricia Kristoffersen on the net. Her napkins are cute. Hamsters can restock with her books. Enter the request Patricia Kristoffersen on the site http://rutracker.org and get acquainted with the works of Patricia Kristoffersen, I think you will like them too.

But I don’t know the name of the craftswoman who first knitted such a carpet and posted photos on the Web. Now there are a lot of them, these knitted carpets, on the Internet and go and find out who was the pioneer here. A lot of video tutorials on knitting the "Magnificent" carpet are also offered. For example, you can knit this carpet using Anfisa Voroshilova's video tutorials:

The description of the carpet is also easy to find. I liked Rina's blog "Let's do it with our hands" the most. She prepared several master classes, where it describes knitting a carpet in rows, plus a video and many photos have been added to each lesson.

It seems to me that it was easier and more accessible to explain and show the knitting process to anyone. But needlewomen have few video tutorials, few descriptions, few primary sources, give them a diagram. In the comments every now and then you come across such entries:

✽ Can you send this pattern (Crochet “Splendid” Napkin) as a hand-drawn pattern, not a letter? I can't read letters :) Thanks in advance!!!

✽ I like this napkin, but I just can’t find the pattern. Do you happen to have one? According to the descriptions, I can’t stand knitting - it’s so sweet ... And I’m too lazy to make it myself

✽ it's a pity that there is no scheme. I don't know how to knit

✽ I am also crazy about this rug. But who knitted this beauty, please help with the scheme.

Schemes of the carpet "Magnificent"

I have not knitted this beauty yet, but I can help with the scheme. Moreover, I managed to find not even one, but three knitting patterns for the Splendid napkin, on the basis of which this carpet is knitted.

I came across such a scheme in the Spagetti Yarn group in Samara

This is the diagram from the site. I knit, I sew, I roll - I get up.

Choose any. I, when I get my polyester cord, will knit with the help of Rina. I will tie - I will brag. In the meantime, I'm doing village rounds.

How much does the "Magnificent" carpet cost?

If you don’t want or don’t know how to knit, but you like the carpet, then you can buy it. For example, at the Fair of Masters. Or on the site promtexural.ru, where I bought the cord today.

Expensive? I do not think so. One meter of cord costs three rubles, for a carpet you need 600 meters, plus shipping, plus labor. Still expensive? Then there is only one advice - learn to crochet and knit what you want!

A creative person is always experimenting, especially with various types needlework. Craftswomen are constantly finding new ways to occupy their golden hands: this and various ways embroidery, and knitting, and so on. Today, crocheting carpets from cord is becoming more and more popular, patterns and master classes for making such knitted carpets are widely available, and the description is quite accessible.

Today we will talk about making a stylish do-it-yourself crocheted cord rug.

Create a relief

This question is the main one for someone who starts crocheting a carpet. Often, needlewomen use improvised materials, which adversely affects the appearance of their rugs. After all, if you are planning to knit a carpet from a cord with your own hands, you probably plan to lay it in a conspicuous place, and therefore you want to get a beautiful and stylish carpet.

For knitting embossed carpets, two types of cord are used: cotton and polyester cords. Carpets look great from both materials, so it's impossible to compare them. The use of a certain type of cord is determined only by the goals that you are pursuing.

The polyester cord is made of a synthetic fiber that does not fade in the sun, and therefore does not lose its color. Also, polyester fiber is known for the fact that it practically does not collect dust. The cotton cord is made from 100% natural cotton, making carpets several kilograms heavier and more stable on the floor. After washing, a cotton carpet dries longer than a polyester one, but is it worth talking about the environmental friendliness of using natural materials.

Therefore, the choice of the cord from which you will make your carpet lies with you, both options are good for making carpets of any shape, be it a round, square or oval carpet.

Assistant at work

Patterns of all kinds of crocheted carpets are very popular today, many needlewomen look for them on the Internet, and more experienced ones create their own patterns. We invite you to familiarize yourself with some options for crocheting carpets from a cord.

The first scheme of the carpet called "Magnificent" is perhaps the most popular. This carpet is embossed, so you can knit it for your bedroom or bathroom, because it has a massage effect.

It takes about 2 skeins of cord for such a carpet, which equals 400 meters. The diameter of this carpet is 1 meter.

The next carpet is "Grand":

This oval-shaped carpet is knitted from polyester fiber, which allows it to be durable and moisture resistant, as well as keep its shape perfectly even after numerous washes. The scheme of his knitting is presented in the photo below. To make it, you will need 700 meters of polyester cord, diameter - 2-2.5 meters.

Carpet in the "Grand" technique is distinguished by the fact that it is very flexible and easy to transport and does not take up much space when folded in the closet.

Also, an oval carpet can be knitted as follows:

Rug "Sun" will look great in a bright bedroom or in the country. It will require a cotton cord.

You can also knit a Popcorn carpet and put it, for example, in a nursery - a embossed rug will not let the baby get bored, because he will ask to count the small balls! And what amazing tactile sensations your baby will experience, especially if you take cotton material.

Knitted carpets fit perfectly into any interior, if correctly selected in color and texture. You can also use crochet doily patterns to crochet a cord rug, these patterns are also suitable for this activity.

A grand carpet is knitted from a polyester cord with a core that consists of 100% polyester. The use of this material is explained by the main property of polyester, which has a springy fiber structure, which allows the finished product to return to its original position when compressed and stretched.

Despite the fact that the carpet will be made of synthetic raw materials, it will look like it was knitted from natural wool. Products made of polyester cord are distinguished by their durability, strength, moisture resistance and quality, they have a beautiful shape and a texture that is pleasant to the touch. Carpets Grand do not lose their shape over time, do not cause allergic reactions, do not get moldy and do not draw dust into themselves, they are easily washed in a typewriter with low temperatures, but it is necessary to dry them in a straightened form on a flat surface.

In addition, there are craftswomen who knit carpets using the technique of openwork napkins and from natural materials, for example, twisted cotton cord. By outward signs carpets made of polyester or cotton cords will not differ completely, further care for them is identical, it all depends on your choice and on the availability of a suitable cord for knitting in a specialized store.
