Compote of pomegranate and apples with honey

It is better not to put this compote in jars, because it can be prepared in winter.

Ingredients:

  • grenades – 3 pcs.;
  • apples (sour) – 2 pcs.;
  • lemon – 1 pc.;
  • water – 3 l.;
  • honey – 100 gr.;
  • cardamom.

Preparation:

  1. Wash the apples, peel and seeds, cut into small pieces.
  2. Place in a saucepan.
  3. Wash the lemon thoroughly and dry with a towel.
  4. Remove the zest from it using a fine grater, and then squeeze the juice directly onto the apples.
  5. Fill with water and add cardamom.
  6. Place on the fire, let it boil and cook on low heat for ten minutes.
  7. While the drink is brewing, peel the pomegranate seeds and remove the membranes.
  8. Place in a bowl and add liquid honey.
  9. Stir thoroughly with a spoon so that some of the grains burst and release juice.
  10. Remove the pan from the heat, cover with a lid and let sit for a while.
  11. Place a tablespoon of the honey-pomegranate mixture in a cup and pour over the hot compote from the pan.

  • 2 liters of drinking water;
  • half a pomegranate fruit;
  • a couple of apples;
  • lunch spoon of sugar.

It is necessary to cook compote taking into account the following step-by-step recommendations.

  1. The fruits are washed thoroughly.
  2. Apples are cut into quarters or into 8 parts. A piece of core and seeds are removed from each slice. Usually compote is made from sweet varieties of apples, but if sour fruits were used in the preparation process, the amount of sugar should be increased in the future.
  3. Fruit pieces are transferred to a saucepan.
  4. The grains are removed from the pomegranate so that there are no partitions in the resulting mass.
  5. Pomegranate kernels are poured into apple slices, everything is filled with water and set on low heat.
  6. After the liquid boils, reduce the heat and cook the compote for another 5 minutes.

  5. 250 milliliters of the resulting juice is mixed with granulated sugar. The mixture is brought to a boil and cooked for about 5 minutes until all the sugar is completely dissolved.
  6. Then the syrup is given time to cool, and after that pomegranate kernels are poured into it.
  7. Place the future jam on the fire and cook for 5-7 minutes. Then the treat should be allowed to cool slightly.
  8. The cooking and cooling procedure is repeated 2-3 more times. This approach to cooking allows you to determine in time the beginning of the thickening process of the brew. Otherwise, the overcooked treat becomes too viscous and dark.

The shelf life of pomegranate drink varies depending on its preparation method. So, you can store a store-bought drink for 2-3 days after opening the package. Unopened store-bought juice is stored for the period of time indicated on the package.

If you squeeze pomegranate juice at home, you should consume it immediately after squeezing. If it was not possible to consume the fresh drink immediately, it can be stored in the refrigerator for 24 hours. If the pomegranate juice was sterilized and rolled during the preparation process, it can be left for the winter. However, the opened product should be consumed as soon as possible - within 24 hours.
