  • Pickles may or may not be present in the hodgepodge, depending on the chef’s preference.
  • Garlic can be squeezed into the finished soup to make it more flavorful.

The nuances of cooking in the Redmond and Polaris multicooker

To prepare a truly delicious dinner in a slow cooker, you should take a closer look at its model. They have some differences in software modes and functions. Although basically the equipment from both manufacturers is the same.

In order to fry vegetables in the Redmond multicooker, use the “Frying” function, while in Polaris the “Baking” program is best suited for this. Both models have a “Multi-cook” mode. In this case, the kitchen appliances themselves determine what temperature is most optimal for preparing a particular dish.

Anyone who doesn’t like hodgepodge simply hasn’t tried cooking it in a slow cooker. This is a quick soup, a strict classic, prepared from what is in the refrigerator. Fast, convenient, inexpensive.

Previously, it was believed that solyanka was a soup for bachelors that could be prepared quickly. You don't need to be fancy to cook something. If you have a multicooker and some food in the refrigerator, the ideal dish for the whole family is hodgepodge with sausages in a multicooker. We invite you to try cooking this dish with us, you will love it!

Ingredients for solyanka for 6 servings:

  • smoked sausages – 2 pcs.;
  • “Children’s” sausages – 200 g;
  • potato tubers, preferably young medium size - 3 pcs.;
  • onion head;
  • pickled cucumbers – 8 pcs., and if small – 10 pcs.;
  • olives (pitted) – 10 pcs.;
  • lemon – 1 pc.;
  • olive oil – 1 tbsp;
  • salt, seasonings - to taste;
  • tomato paste – 1 tbsp;
  • water – 2 l.

How to prepare the first course:

  1. Most of us are accustomed to preparing first courses exclusively with meat broth. In this recipe we will not adhere to this tradition and will prepare hodgepodge according to this express recipe.
  2. Let's start by making a kind of frying. You just need to remove both types of sausages from the casing and cut them into cubes. It is more convenient to first cut the products into plates, and then into strips, and then into cubes of the required size.
  3. Pour the specified amount of vegetable oil into the bowl of the device. Turn on the appliance, activating the “Frying” program. You need to fry the sausage for about 2 minutes. But for now, leave the device to warm up.
  4. And we recommend that you use the free time you receive to your advantage: you need to have time to peel the onion and chop it so that you get squares the same size as chopped sausages.
  5. Be sure to, as soon as the oil warms up, first fry the sausages, stirring, then add the chopped onion, continue frying until the onion acquires a beautiful golden hue.
  6. Now that the onion has become not only appetizing, but also very aromatic, you need to add a spoonful of tomato paste, mix the entire contents of the appliance bowl, and simmer a little for 2 minutes. The program does not need to be changed.
  7. Now you need to quickly peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes. You can even do this in parallel, without being distracted from cooking onions and sausages.
  8. Place the potato cubes with the ingredients in the multicooker bowl and pour in 2 liters of water. Water can be taken from the tap (it all depends on its quality), purified or boiled.
  9. That's it, you can lower the lid to select the desired cooking mode. In this case, the “Soup” or “Stew” program is ideal. Water boils fastest if you turn on the “Steam” mode. Cooking time is 30 minutes until the potatoes are soft.
  10. Let’s not relax, because there are still some very unusual foods left for the first course: cucumbers. They need to be doused with boiling water, but this rule does not always need to be followed. If these are not barrel cucumbers, but gherkins, then you can immediately start slicing.
  11. Cut the cucumbers into cubes, finely. You can use straws or, if the cucumbers are very small, then slices. They must be immediately, along with the released juice, carefully placed into the multicooker bowl, mixed and continued cooking for another 10 minutes.
  12. After the specified time, open the lid to add spices and add salt. Taste the dish before adding salt, because cucumbers are already salty, so you can add half the usual portion of salt or even less. Since it is also present in sausages.
  13. That’s it, the hodgepodge with sausages in the slow cooker is ready, right now pour the first dish into the broth and serve. And, most importantly, do not forget to cut the olives and lemon into thin slices. Place a slice of lemon on each plate and add some chopped olives. Bon appetit! You can enrich the taste of this already rich dish with chopped fresh herbs, a clove of garlic (chopped), and a spoonful of sour cream.

Solyanka with sausages and chicken in a slow cooker

And this dish is prepared very simply. If there is a little bit of everything left in the refrigerator: a little chicken, sausages, smoked sausages and other types of sausage, it’s time to please your family with a very bright-tasting first course. Cooking in a multicooker is an absolute pleasure, not like on the stove: you don’t need to specifically monitor the process, you just need to set the desired mode and load all the products in the given sequence.

More information about what you need to prepare:

  • sausages – 200 g;
  • hunting sausages – 2 pcs.;
  • smoked chicken – 200 g;
  • tomato paste – 1 tbsp;
  • potatoes – 4 pcs.;
  • onions, carrots - 1 pc.;
  • medium-sized pickled cucumbers – 3 pcs.;
  • oil for frying – 1 tbsp;
  • salt, ground pepper and peas - to taste;
  • water – 2 l.

Prepare hodgepodge with sausages in a slow cooker together step by step:

  1. Let's prepare all the vegetables at once, so as not to be distracted later. We remove the onion and carrot from the shell and chop it in a convenient way. Traditionally, we chop the onion so that it turns out finely and grate the carrots, using the side with wide notches.
  2. Pour frying oil into the bowl of the device and turn on the “Frying” program. We are waiting for the oil to warm up a little.
  3. We don’t stop, quickly peel 4 potatoes, rinse under running water, and cut into cubes. For now, put it in a bowl, fill it with water so that the potatoes do not darken and just lose excess starch.
  4. The oil is hot, first lower the onion, fry, stirring occasionally for 2 minutes, then add the carrots, don’t forget to stir.
  5. You should have a few free minutes to have time to cut the sausage and chicken into cubes (remove the skin immediately - it is not needed).
  6. While the onions and carrots are being fried, you need to chop the cucumbers or simply grate them on a coarse grater and immediately place them in the multicooker bowl to fry.
  7. After a few minutes, add a spoonful of tomato paste, stir, cook for about 4 minutes, then add the potatoes (the water must be drained).
  8. Next, send the sausages and chicken, cover everything with water. If you want the taste of the hodgepodge to be more intense, pour literally 50 ml of cucumber brine. You don’t need to add spices and salt yet, that’s all later.
  9. Now you need to close the lid and select a program. In a multicooker, it is most convenient to cook in the “Soup”, “Steamer” or “Stew” mode. First you need to wait for the boiling stage, then switch the device to the “Quenching” mode. You need the multicooker to cook this dish slowly, then you’ll get just the perfect hodgepodge!
  10. As soon as you hear the long-awaited signal, it’s time to set the table, having first prepared everything you need for this dish. For example, a plate of fresh vegetables or salad, sour cream, chopped herbs, lemon slices and pitted olives. All that remains is to pour this aromatic dish into appropriately sized plates and start eating right away. Bon Appetit everyone!

  5. In heated vegetable oil, fry the products in the following order: first onions (3 minutes), then carrots (3 minutes), then sausages - all together for 5 minutes.
  6. In a separate small cup, dilute the tomato paste, add 2 spoons, add 4 tablespoons of water or broth, mix, pour the paste over the vegetables and sausages. Mix again, cook further in the “Stew” mode for literally 5 minutes.

  9. This chic and aromatic dish should be served with a slice of lemon, chopped fresh herbs (dill) and a spoonful of sour cream. Bon appetit!

Solyanka is my favorite first course. It is nourishing, tasty, thick, and warms well in winter. Solyanka with sausage in a slow cooker is a simplified version of solyanka (without meat), but also very tasty. Try it!

This recipe for hodgepodge with sausage in a slow cooker is very simple. I call it on duty, since it is prepared from the remains of various sausages and does not require special preparation. Solyanka turns out tasty and rich, although the recipe does not include meat or meat broth. But due to the fact that the hodgepodge with sausage takes a long time to prepare in a slow cooker, it kind of simmers for three hours and infuses. Be sure to add lemon and olives, as well as sour cream to the prepared hodgepodge. Good luck and bon appetit!
